What amazing history! I feel as if I learned so much during my time here. You will too, if you take advantage of all of the information presented in each exhibit as opposed to just quickly walking through. I learned a lot about the Vietnam War and the video accounts of those who were prisoners of war were quite harrowing. If you're in the area, you should definitely include this museum on your agenda. The museum entrance fee also included a tour of the battleship. We totally enjoyed touring this USS Wisconsin. We parked in a nearby parking garage and crossed an intersection in order to enter the museum.

Very nice museum focusing on Hampton Roads naval history, which as you can imagine is quite extensive. It's inside the Nauticus complex on the second floor.Lots of good models, displays, photos, all well organized by subject matter.Note that the Hampton Roads Naval Museum is an official museum of the US Navy. It's separate from the larger Nauticus Museum within which it resides. According to the HRNM website, the naval museum also helps to train docents for the battleship, which is part of Nauticus.

I enjoyed my visit to this free museum located on the second floor inside Nauticus. It is an interesting museum of US naval history with dioramas, scale models, pictures and artifacts. I would recommend budgeting about 1 hour to go through it. It is located next to the gangway leading to the Wisconsin which does charge a fee to visit. This museum is worth your time when visiting Norfolk.

We loved the museum and all the exhibits that came with it. I enjoyed learning about the Vietnam war for the navy and the USS Wisconsin. My husband loved being able to walk around the ship and getting to see the mess hall and the office rooms and racks are like. Overall I will definitely take my family here to give them a sense of what the navy is like and the history it has been it.

This museum was so much better than I ever expected a naval museum could be (considering I wasn't interested in the navy when I entered). There are very impressive and interesting naval related exhibits including stories about the beginning of the US Navy, the various famous fleets throughout our history, the purpose of the fleets and their adventures, different naval traditions, the transformation of ship style and structure, and much more. Then there are all the exhibits about our waterways, the environment and health of our seas and a touch and feel exhibit of marine life - which was by far my favorite. You get to learn about mermaid purses, skates, sharks, stingrays and horseshoe crabs. You can touch real life versions of them. Once you get tired of playing with the sea life, you can walk aboard the huge SS Wisconsin - one of the boats in the Gulf War. This boat, its size, facilities, purpose and strength and the stories about the lives of the crews that lived aboard will amaze you. Don't miss stopping into this very interesting and diverse museum.

Very well organized showing various aspects of navy life throughout its history. This part is free admission. The cost is if you want to see the USS Wisconsin destroyer. This place is also very close to the Armed Forces Memorial and not far from General MacArthur Museum
