Our family came down on vacation from New Hampshire to visit the Williamsburg, VA area. We emailed the Hampton Roads Charter on our drive down after finding them on a Google search to reserve spots. Their reply was quick and courteous and we easily reserved our spots for the afternoon (12:30p-5:30p) charter. We arrived a bit early, boarded a few minutes before departure, and set off right on time. Our crew was awesome! Our Captain, Brett, and the Mate, Camilla, were extremely personable, and great to talk to. Camilla was super helpful with everything from bait to detangling line and unhooking fish for everyone on board. The Mate works for tips only, so be sure to tip them well.To top it off, the fishing was fantastic. We fished for about four hours, and I lost count of the fish I caught, mostly "croakers", well over 20 to be sure. We also saw some dolphins and a sea turtle as an additional bonus. All in all, we had a fantastic afternoon fishing, and I highly recommend this company!

Came over for the fishing trip... caught about 6 croaker each... good time .. but only thing that boat is set up for is croaker fishing only... if you expect to catch something big and meaty, you need to go farther out.Asked the captain about getting the fish cleaned prior to departure, he said the mate would do it if we had time. Asked the mate prior to going back to shore and he mentioned it would mean he had to clean the station before the next trip (too much work). He said this after I gave him a 35 dollar tip. Never again. The mate was good and friendly -- and did a great job until this point. This was the only disappointing part about his actions. Other than that this is an inshore croaker fishing trip--- good for drinking beer with your friends and putting a few poles in the water...Next time we will try for something different unless we want a night trip.

My boyfriend and I took the Ocean Eagle out on a night fishing trip July 6, 2024. I had never tried fishing so I didn't think I'd have much fun but I truly enjoyed my time. We caught about 25 croakers(?) but people around us caught many more, someone even caught a shark.Ryan and Nick the first mates were really knowledgeable and personable. They helped us identify fish, cut our bait, and chatted with us throughout the night. They both helped make this fishing experience amazing. The Captain introduced himself and the boat at the start, communicated with us as the night went on and most importantly kept us level when the currents got a little rough. There were about 20 people fishing with us so the only downfall of this trip was some of our lines kept getting tangled which was likely user error. We will definitely be back to try out the early morning fishing trip.

Had a fantastic time. Caught over 175 fish, mostly croaker, a few trout, a shark, some rockfsh between 3 people. Captain took us to a bunch of spots, and staff on board were extremely helpful and fun. They were patient with the kids on board and responsive to everyone, quickly taking fish off hooks if needed, and even helping to bait hooks. Boat was clean and had plenty of room for everyone. Highly recommend.

I went in this charter to have fun with my daughter and to bring some much needed fish back to Ohio with us. We caught A LOT of croakers 6-8 inches which where great for my daughter and I to have constant action. As we filled the cooler to the top along with my daughters cooler, I asked the mate where the cleaning table was when we returned to the dock. She replied we have one but customers are not allowed to use it because it's for Cornella W boat which is there smaller boat for the same company? I then asked if she would clean the fish for a larger tip! She stated she was going to be there until 7:30 pm already and was not interested in cleaning the fish we just spent 75.00 and 5 hours to catch. And I should go buy a cutting board and clean the fish in the 92 degree heat on the back of my wife's truck? So I ended up having to donate over 75 croakers to a family that owned their own restaurant. So if you want to catch a lot of smaller fish but not get to clean them and take them home to eat this is the boat for you. If your on vacation like us and want to clean your catch to eat go somewhere else.

I was so excited to experience this charter boat with confidence that the captain knew where to find spot, croaker, and trout. My dad and I had decided to call before our arrival and we were told the folks from earlier that day had caught hundreds of fish. Say no more, I'm on my way! We were onboard from 12:30-5:30pm on a Saturday. The day left me highly disappointed. Only a hand full of fish had been caught on the boat among 16 people. I'm pretty sure my dad & I had the most (certainly no more than 10 fish). $40 bucks down the drain! The captain moved his boat several times but it only got worst. We kept catching baby bass and yucky ugly toadfish. Someone on the boat mentioned that the captain took a different route than earlier that day (where all the fish were). I really hoped that he would allow us more time fish into the evening hours considering there wasn't another group fishing afterwards. Besides, we spent entirely too much of our time moving around until we ended up in very deep waters. Eventually, nothing came up but a hook with dangling bait. NO FISH! Either the first group snatched them all or we got the okie doke. Would've been much better off fishing from the pier.Pros: Relaxing water and time spent with dad

I currently live in PA and was last living in Hampton when I was serving in the USAF. I recently secured a fishing trip for me and 10 of my friends, some of which served with me. After about 2 weeks I was told that my trip was cancelled due to someone paying well in advance and wanting the same day I selected. Payment in advance was not required to secure my trio but was used to cancel my small vacation. I was told I could receive a 80 dollar discount for my troubles, however I will not attempt to make such plans with a place that doesn't keep their word.

Started out years ago fishing this boat and we always caught bigger fish and the captain would search for them. Not so much now. I guess they are conserving gas. We fished before with 6oz. weights on the rentals rods, now they use 5oz. and there are a lot more tangles with other fisherman. I wasted slot of time getting tangles out. One good thing is they're not far from good fishing grounds but they gotta be willing to move around to search for bigger fish
