Hammer & Stain is worth a try! Established in 2020, they seem to be going strong. Me and four friends celebrated a birthday on a Saturday afternoon. We were greeted by Kathy the owner along w/ her husband who does all of the woodwork. Such a sweet couple and so accommodating. We were allowed to bring snacks so we had a charcuterie board, cooler w/ drinks, and a birthday cake! We were the only people booked for this day which was perfect. I'm pretty sure we overstayed our welcome but Kathy and her husband were totally chill. We all had such a great time and loved that we were able to take our crafts with us. With the husband doing all the wood work, they accommodate custom orders. I certainly plan on returning.

I first saw Hammer & Stain as it is located in the Timberlake shopping center where my family typically watches the mt. Trashmore fireworks on July 4th. While waiting for traffic to die down to get out of the parking lot, I saw the store and googled it and kept it in mind as an activity to do with my mom as she loves to do crafting activities. My mom and I came in today as an early birthday present for her and we had so much fun! We ended up unexpectedly having the whole place to ourselves which made for a nice intimate activity. The owner was very, very sweet and helpful and so much fun to talk to while we painted our plant stand and wine cooler that we selected as our projects. She gave us great advice on paint and stain colors, and walked us step by step through how to properly stain and use the stencil. My mom and I already know we want to come back again and bring some of our family members as it is such a great activity and you get to walk out with a product you can immediately use. And since you select what project you want to do ahead of time you already know you're going to love it! I have my eye on coming back for sure during the holidays as the fall and Christmas decor were so adorable! Definitely stop by Hammer & Stain and support a great local business and it's great owners! We will definitely be back again!

#31/2020Seems like DIY Arts & Crafts shops are all the rage these days and I. Am. Loving. It! I came across this cute business on Instagram and they showcased wine coolers/chillers as a project so I couldn't resist asking some of my girlfriends if they'd like to participate. So glad a couple of them obliged. It was such a fun and unique project that differed from the usual hanging wooden signs with catchy phrases. I mean, we still chose a catchy phrase for our chiller though, lol! "Everyday Is Winesday" Signing up was fairly easy and user friendly on their website. I found that it wasn't as complicated as another DIY's website when registering. They offer many projects but to me, it wasn't so overwhelming that I had to take a good chunk of time to peruse each and every project. One particular item I would love to do is coir doorstep mat. You pay with credit card when registering but pay attention to the fine print should you need to cancel. There's some rules there! After successfully registering, you will receive a welcome email from Cathy. She (and her husband) is absolutely adorable and super friendly. I loved that she plucked off all the lettering for us on the vinyl decal so that all we had to do was apply it on our medium. Another place made us pluck off each and every letter, number, and design in general. It is very time consuming yet cathartic but when you're on a time crunch, ehhh. Cathy was kind enough to do it ahead of time! Her husband built and sanded the wooden cooler that will house the plastic tub to hold our wine bottles and ice once we're finished. All we had to do was choose a stain and paint color for the design! They had about 14 stains and about 36 paint colors so choose wisely! Just remember to keep it fun and think outside the box sometimes! Really enjoyed my time there with my girlfriends. We arrived early so we could settle in and get to know the owner. They've only been opened a month and the place is really cute. Can't wait to see more things they will display! They had a great playlist going and Cathy walked around to help us if we got stumped on color choices or if we had any issues. She was there to rescue or lend a hand. You can also bring your own beverage: beer, wine, champagne, whatever. But my friends and I? We brought iced Vietnamese coffee -- LOL! Hey, we had dinner beforehand and tryptophan was kicking in so we needed to wake up! Hammer & Stain is located in the Timberlake Shopping Center a couple doors down from Blink Fitness and because of that there's plenty of parking!!! It's a lot closer to me than the other two DIY places I've been to and I foresee myself coming here more so because of it. Very convenient with a few restaurants in the area. Highly recommend if you're wanting something fun to do on a rainy day, which is what we did! You can create one-of-a-kind, unique, handmade gifts for loved ones or yourself. Just keep in mind it does cost a bit depending on the project but it is what it is. Find them on Instagram/Facebook or click here http://www.hammerandstainvb.com/
