I had been to this place a few times before seeing another stylist that turned out to be the owner. I scheduled appointments for myself and my 2 daughters. I very specifically said wash and cut for all of us. My daughters were done first and as they were being done I was called. The owner... was my stylist. I felt like I was a comedy roast when I left! She made fun of the length of my hair, the amount of time between cuts, the color or lack of, the amount of gray, the volume of my hair, how my hair wasn't thick like my daughters, she couldn't grasp that I didn't have my glasses on to see, she got upset that I didn't like the smell of the products being put in my hair, so she used less then her taste of products and made that very clear, she was annoyed that I wanted my hair blown dry. I have curly hair. I do not go to a "salon" to walk out with curly hair. She should know she has curly hair so she said. They didn't wash my daughters hair at all. We weren't local enough for her. We hadn't lived here long enough... 11 years..but ok. I'm not sure the owner knew that she was treating me so disrespectfully. Making fun of me. I don't think she cared. I don't think her staff knew that we were all there for a wash and cut. The prices are great! Cheap. You get what you pay for though. I had to wash my hair only 3 hours later because of the products used that gave me a headache. I more then try to support local business but I'm not local enough.

I've been looking for a hair stylist for awhile now and am so glad I came to Hair Kingdom. Ashley is the Queen! She repermed/textured my hair and cut it into an a-line bob. It looks exactly as I wanted it to. Pricing was very reasonable and the front desk gal was very friendly. The salon is cute and clean. I will be going to Ashley and this salon for all my future hair needs.

It was a wonderful time. I am a working mom of 3 and I don't get to do much for myself.. I came in looking for something fresh and new. Liven up my look and make me feel new again! I thought a cut and a perm for the Marine Ball. Now any stylist could have just said OK let's go but instead Sarah got to know me. She said she would do what I ask but a perm was going to stink and I may not want that. I told her can we color and with excitement she said Yes! I gave her free reign and had the best time. She made me feel so welcome and the time went by so fast! I absolutely love my hair!!! She did an amazing job and I will be back!!

I am so picky about who does my hair. I mean there's got to be the proper balance of someone dealing with my fickle hair and being personable. My typical stylist is no longer to be found and his replacement at my usual salon left me wanting for more. After some recommendations, I tried this place out on a whim since they had an opening while I had gotten off work early. The sign of the place is a bit misleading since I think the it makes the place look dated. Once inside, I was proven wrong. It's definitely a place that is modern on the inside without going over the top. I was greeted by the receptionist and led to my stylist, Catrina. She got to my hair and did her analysis of how to "attack" my hair. My hair has a weird wave to it so there has to be some thought on how you cut it or I end up looking more like a lion. She cut my hair and made it feel tons lighter without making it too short. I also went a bit daring with her suggestion of styling my hair with mousse and gel. Usually, this style doesn't work since my hair has been so heavy or I didn't have the right product. Catrina had the right thing in mind and showed me how easy it was to do it myself.I got tons of compliments on my hair when I left the salon and when I recreated the hairdo myself... it was close enough to what Catrina had done that I had hope of styling my hair other than using flat irons, curling irons, etc.So happy with the results, I have found my new salon! =)

This location does not take debit or credit cards and has no problem with not telling you that before they cut your hair. The manager refused to accept Pay Pal or any other method besides cash causing my husband to have to leave his ID and drive over an hour round trip. She was rude and obviously too cheap to enroll in any type of credit service or even a free account through Pay Pal or other method.

The worst haircut ever had. The salonist was so busy talking about herself she forgot to finish the cut!! I had to tell her! Awful awful awful. I've never left a bad review but have to warn people. Very tacky salon. And I only needed a trim. Now I can't do a thing with my hair......

It was my first time at Hair Kingdom and I made an appointment with Gloria. She was recommended by the receptionist when I called to describe that I needed a good haircut by someone who was very experienced. The shop called me the day before with a reminder of my appointment. When I arrived (on time) the receptionist at the desk proceeded to tell me that Gloria was with a client and my choices would be to let someone else cut it (random hairdresser) or wait. My appointment was for 4:30 and the shop closes at 5:00. I would have waited, but Gloria still had a lot of work to do on the client she was working with. I told them they should have called me to let me know what was going on BEFORE I arrived so and I could either reschedule or see someone else. I left with uncut hair. Very bad customer relations if you are trying to gain a new client. Still looking for a good hair dresser in Chesapeake...

I had several problems with this salon. First, the décor is not impressive. It's rather tacky amateurish and cheap-looking. But since it's a hair salon I will base my rating on the experience and services received:-The girl that took care of me was busy gossiping with the front desk girl the entire time- They didn't listen to what I wanted at all, they pushed and pushed whatever they wanted to do on me-I was very unhappy with the results. The highlights were barely noticeable and not well executed.-They seem to be all about hiding the problem, NOT fixing it.-The girl left my hair wet in some parts in the back. I was so unhappy I didn't bother to complain I just wanted to leave ASAP! -Then she handed me her business card and I saw "Hair kingdom, where your treated like royalty." It said 'your' .... Seriously? Did these people even graduate high school?Conclusion: DO NOT go to this place, especially if you have a Groupon.
