Guapo's is a really excellent Mexican restaurant. It looks authentic and the food is very authentic and delicious. Service was excellent as well.We started with margaritas. I had the mango blended margarita and it was just perfect. They also had nachos with the best bean dip and salsa. It is a huge menu, wider than most Mexican restaurants. For the main course, I had the mixed fajitas. These were outstanding. The tortillas were nice and fresh. The chicken and beef were both seasoned and cooked perfectly. The vegetables were great as well.Everyone loved their meals as well. It is absolutely worth a visit.

Very good salsa, bean dip and chips brought to the table when you sit down. We had the quesaburria Tacos (fantastic!) and a breakfast burrito with bacon (also fantastic!). The burrito was huge (wish I'd gotten a photo of it).

Nothing like a good mexican restaurant in the coastal area! We came here while it was busy and service was a little slow, so we were a little bit more patient and had to wait a while for our food and drinks. The ambiance of the restaurant was welcoming and fun! The pricing of the dishes were fair. I'm very picky with lengua and their lengua taco was amazing! The drinks were a little heavy but there are no complaints there :) Carne asada plate was delicious and there were no leftovers to take home!

I LOVE THIS PLACE! I think this has to be my favorite Mexican restaurant in the hampton/Newport News area. If you blink, you'll miss spot because it's literally hidden in a small shopping center. My friend Brittany took me here and I've been obsessed ever since. You can tell this is a family owned/close knit restaurant because there's not many staff and you see the same workers no matter when you go. However, they're extremely nice. I think the only downside is because they have 1 or 2 ppl who double as hostess, servers and bartenders at the same time, you have to be patient. Once seated, they give you this awesome salsa, but the start of the show are these refried beans (or something much better lol) to dip your homemade chips in. I love the chorizqueso which is pretty much the same as queso fundido (REAL melted cheese with chorizo on top)... OUT OF THIS WORLD... so flavorful. But the star of the show is the aguachiles, which is shrimp & a type of green sauce (possibly a well blended salsa verde sans tomatoes) topped with cucumbers and onions. It's flavorful, has a definite spicy kick and just awesome!I literally thought about it all week and made myself get up and go get it on Saturday. My friend ordered the oysters topped with ceviche... it's a lot of food and worth the price. Bottom line: go here! You won't be disappointed.

Sadly, the service was subpar at best. The establishment needs to decide whether they are catering to the night life crowd or restaurant patrons. Hostess was slow and our waiter was slow even though the occupancy was low for a Friday night. The Music was way too loud, bathrooms weren't clean, lighting was more club night than dinner setting. The only bright side to the place was that the food was good and authentic. I'll say that if the food wasn't good the place would likely be closed

I've been eyeing this place for a couple weeks. We couldn't make it last time since there was car issues. Fortunately for us it was open on New Year's Eve. The signage for the restaurant can be easily missed. The exterior looks somewhat rundown, but guys don't judge a book by it's cover. There is plenty of parking as it's located in a outdoor shopping center near food Lion. The hubs and I walked in and realized we were the only ones. A young woman greeted us from the end of the restaurant with a warm smile, and brought us to a booth with menus. It was around 12pm which was opening time for them. There were complimentary chips, salsa, and a queso dip offered once seated. Nice touch! My better half decided to start the table with Ostiones Montados (a half dozen raw oysters topped with ceviche). The menu differs online for takeout for what is offered for lunch and for their standard menu. I was hankering for fajitas and it was mixed with steak and chicken. The hubs opted for the Al pastor burrito. The raw oysters were brought to the table in a timely manner. They were sitting on ice and filled nicely with fresh ceviche. I had one and the hubs ate the rest. I'm not one for raw lol. Within a few minutes all our food started to come. My fajitas was left in the middle side of the table. I had to bring it myself so that it was in front of me. The fresh tortilla made in house was amazing. It was handmade with love. The rice and beans were standard. The cast iron grill gave the chicken and steak a smoky flavor. The steak was tough, but the chicken was tender. My better half Al pastor burrito was filled more with rice and tomato than the meat. It had bits of pineapple giving the sweet and savory components. Unfortunately, the Al pastor was tough as well.Overall, it was a good dining experience. We would be back to try their other offerings:)

The food was not bad. I got chicken enchiladas with rice and beans, it was ok. My friend got taco burrita (not sure if the name) it was a fried taco with a jus dipping sauce. She gets it at most Mexican restaurants. She really disliked it. The surface wasn't that great we asked for water with no lemon, she brought water with lemon, at least the lemons were fresh. When our server took my friend's credit card to cash her out, she brought back the original receipt and not a slip to sign and tip. That was weird. We had to ask for a manager and she brought the correct receipt to tip and sign. The manager was very nice. Their decor is odd. It's a mix of rustic and ultra modern with all kinds of LED lighting the music was a little loud and there was a large table of people playing some kind of game and they were really loud. They seemed like they were having fun though. We probably won't be going back might've just caught them on an off day.

I'm in town visiting my daughter and she knows I'm always on the hunt for good Mexican food. Not Tex Mex. I checked reviews and KNEW once I saw Southern California Mexican food I had to try it. We ordered the mixed fajita plate, empanadas both chicken and beef and shrimp cocktail. Let me start w our drinks. The michelada was HUGE!! They also served the large beer in that mug as well. We expected drinks to be $15-20 each. Michelada was $11 and the beer was $5!!! Amazing price. Now for the food. The fajitas were good. Good flavor, good balance of meat and veggies. Empanadas were amazing. The broth that comes with it was flavorful and the garnished on top were a fresh compliment. We also enjoyed the shrimp cocktail which came with tostada shells. Big shrimp I wish they would cut into bite size pieces which would be easier to manage but it was really good so I would def order again. I would order all of it again. Very clean, music playing, bright and colorful decor. They have some large tables for big parties too. Servicers were so nice and attentive. Definitely a must try!!
