Beautiful shady walking trail in Williamsburg. Saw several neat insects, lots of ducks, tadpoles, some turtles and a heron. We also spied at deer! I do wish the trail was marked more clearly when you're on the boardwalk bridge but overall a good experience.

This was overall a great hike. It was a nice nature break during our vacation. It had beautiful fall foliage and the paths were clearly marked. Lots of picture opportunities - in fact, I remember the city park's website promoting some photo contest for their trails. We only expected to be among the woods until we found the asphalt trail that borders a vast field. We took that path and took more pictures. We saw hawks circling the field but none took a land dive. I was happy to see it all and then return to the woods for more cold air. It was really enjoyable and I would recommend the trek. We were out there at least 2 hours. Restrooms were port-a-potties.

Guys.. I only made it one mile in on the Powhatan Creek Trail on a knee scooter in the heat. Those elevations and ups and downs on the trail and the heat wore me out. The Powhatan Creek TRail is an ADA trail which means people with wheelchairs or strollers or wheels can access this trail. The Powhatan creek trail is paved which is a total of 2.05 miles, but not all ADA trails have to be paved as long as they are hard and stable- it can be packed gravel. The gravel near the church was maneuverable on a knee scooter. I did my research ahead of time to find ADA trails so that I would be able to join my husband on a walk. He wanted to walk somewhere we have never been and I wouldn't be able to join him unless I could wheel around on my knee scooter since I'm not walking long distances in the community yet. We opted to park at Clara Byrd Elementary which has four parking spaces near the trail head. The one mile of Powhatan Creek Trail we explored was nice and shaded. We crossed over two long bridges, which had a small creek below it. The trail meanders behind neighborhoods. Although the trail is paved, there are some cracks and buckled pavement due to uprooting from trees. Off the Powhatan Creek Trail, you will pass by some historical sites, such as the battle of Green Spring and an old main church CC 1750 or rather remnants.I would like to further explore the rest of this trail and the many other trails they have to offer when able to walk again and am fully recovered. There are so many trails and this area also leads to parts of the Capital bike trail as well. Definitely bring a hat, some sunscreen and water during the summer months.Bug spray and a first aid kit is also ideals.A bee stung my husband but thankfully he's not allergic. Fortunately, I did have my epi pen on me. Bottom line, just make sure you have a first aid kit available for emergencies like this. Just be aware that the hills on this path can be quite arduous, so make sure you are adequately physically fit to embark on this trail.

My friend and I decided to venture out around this trail because it was the closest to Williamsburg Outlet. The address is to a school, but if you past it, you will def see the parking spot to hike along this trail. It's pretty flat when you start out and behind people's houses, but it has a lot of history stops for you to check out and read. The trail was clean and it as GORGEOUS this past weekend. Got some fresh air and enjoyed the 5 mile stroll (because we slightly got lost). It was nice and reminded me a lot like the trail that I had by my old house in NOVA. Def worth exploring at least once!

This is one of a number of trails that make up the fabulous network of James City County trails.I had been by this trail many times, but had never actually run ON it until yesterday, and it was longer than I realized. By combining the "Main Loop" with "Loop B" you can expect to get about 3 miles. What's nice is that it's also adjacent to the paved Capital Bike Trail and Powhatan Creek Trail, so you can mix things up if you wanna get in a longer run and don't feel like doing multiple loops. There are also a few neighborhoods that can be accessed by taking a spur trail. It's a cool retreat from the largely unshaded Capital Bike Trail, which is what lead me to check it out during a steamy marathon training run. I was nervous that it would be hilly, but it was perfectly flat and heavily forested. The pea gravel surface makes footing easy and is good on the knees. It's basically the flat cousin of the Warhill Sports Complex's multiuse trail. I wish it were a bit closer to my apartment, but I'll no doubt be back.

This is a nice trail through a mostly heavily wooded area. On a portion of the main loop (about two miles in length), you're close to a residential area, but it's not too bad. There are some really excellent wooden bridges and raised wooden walkways. I thought of how much work must've gone into those as I walked them. It was a fantastic job. A special thanks to whomever built those if you read this. Please know how much those were appreciated and how much better they made the trail.

This is a hidden gem for joggers, bikers, walkers, hikers, and nature lovers of all stripes. A short drive from Williamsburg and within a few miles of Jamestown island, the Greensprings Greenway is a wonderful place to experience history, watch ospreys, observe turtles, beavers, muskrats, deer, owls, and much more. The 3 mile loop is just the right size for a morning stroll, afternoon adventure, or evening animal-spotting. I would not have enjoyed my year-long stay in Williamsburg nearly as much had it not been for this silent sanctuary, popular with locals who treat it (respectfully) like their own backyard.

This is a beautiful walking area with a diversity of wild life. However do to lack of stewardship and accountability by James City County Parks, James City County Board of Supervisors, Virginia DOT AND Virginia Department of Natural Resources beaver dams have not been controlled. Over 20000 trees many between 100 and 200 years old have died off. It is projected that 70% of the old forest on the east end of the area will die off in the next 12 month due to rising waters from beaver dams. An estimated 20000 additional trees in the East end of the park are flooded by recent rains. The Legacy of these governmentsl groups will be "We killed Greensprings Interpretive Trail Forest. " SAVE GREENSPRINGS INTERPRETIVE TRAIL FOREST"

Great place to walk and see birds, deer, turtles, and, oh yes, snakes. (We saw harmless black snakes sunning themselves.)
