This review is based only on the pool for which I have been to over a dozen times. This is a six lane competition pool with two bump outs. One of the area's is bumped out for a slide, the other for a diving board during Summer months. You must pay a membership in order to use this facility.Currently the pool has a bubble over it and is heated for Winter swim meets. ODAC runs it's USA 8&U circuit meets out of this facility once a month until February. The bubble will be taken off in Spring and will return to an outdoor pool. Then the reverse occurs in the Fall with the bubble being put back up. Practices for year around USA swimming club Old Dominion Aquatic Club, or ODAC are conducted at this pool in the morning and evening. There is a very large concrete deck which is very nice and one of the bigger assets the pool has. The facility has always been kept in good shape every time I have seen it. However, there is nothing really special here. Parking is an extreme challenge during events. This is a nice functioning pool that serves the area well and for that it is A-OK.

I've only been here to watch my daughter's swim competitions, but my younger kids have been swimming here with friends in the summer. They say that the water is freezing- even in July. The parking are is small. If you park on the main road, make sure all four wheels of your car are in the grass. We were warned that you will get ticketed if they're not. The air inside the bubble felt warm to me, but I was dry. The restrooms and shower areas were clean and well stocked with paper towels, tp, etc. They have metal bleachers set up for spectators, but I'd bring a cushion for the long meets. There are also some tables and chairs scattered around, but you can't see the action from that area. There was a concession stand, as well. Bring cash!

This is a great pool, and a fantastic place to bring the family. During the summer, they hold Groovy Hours on most Fridays. Groovy Hours are themed fun evenings for members and their children. For instance, on Parrothead night they serve cheeseburgers (in paradise), kosher dills, Heinz 57, side dishes, and all while enjoying Jimmy Buffet music. There's also wing night, Mexican night, etc. These events are hosted by members who volunteer their time to plan the details. GBSRC also hosts Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Veteran's Day cookouts. In response to Katie I., the parking is limited during swim meets when there may be 200+ cars present. Otherwise, parking is more than substantial for the membership. By the way, GBSRC is home of the Piranhas swim team; best coaches in town. The water is not cold in July unless we have a few days of no sun, no different than a backyard pool. The pool is member-owned with a volunteer Board. Fees are kept at a minimum for affordability, so members pull weeds, plant flowers, and donate the occasional umbrella to THEIR pool. Being a member is like having your own backyard pool...with lifeguards, but without the concern of the routine maintenance. Never overcrowded like the other pools in the area. There is a huge slide and a diving board in the 10' deep end, (6) 25 meter lanes, and a roped off shallow area for the little ones that starts at about 2'. It's not unusual for a group of kids to get up a game of Sharks and Minnows. It's a great place to be a member.
