Bottom Line: A family owned business offering popular brands and quality clothing for the entire family along with some beach souvenirs.Gray's Department Store is one of the nicest clothing stores on the Outer Banks and it has been in business for many decades. The store features mostly clothes for men and women and they sell brands like Tommy Bahama, Olukai, Sperry and Vera Bradley. In addition to beachy clothes and resort ware they have some shoes, handbags and accessories for adults. They also have some items for children like stuffed toys, books and such. Aside from nicer name-brand clothing, they also have some Outer Banks gear. They definitely have a higher quality selection of tshirts, sweatshirts and fleece jackets than any other store. Other items they carry include cards, puzzles and I think even taffy. The store is clean and well organized but a bit picked over in October, as should be expected.

This was a decent shop to visit in the Timbuck II shopping center in Corolla. It had a good variety of clothing, swimwear, and OBX-themed souvenirs. Additionally, it carried sunscreen, lotions, and other health items. I have to say though, the prices weren't that amazing in comparison to some of the other shops nearby. A couple places had two for 10 deals on t-shirts, a wider variety of clothing, more gifts and toys, and other sorts of things to buy at Timbuck II. Regardless, the staff was very nice and friendly, and made pleasant conversation while I was checking out. Additionally, they pointed me to the clearance area in the back, where I was able to find some discount greeting cards. I'd say this place is okay, but definitely explore the other shops nearby!

Of all the stores in Timbuck II that sell clothing, Gray's is definitely... one of them. I'm convinced most of the clothing stores here have the same exact inventory.

If you had asked me a few months ago what I felt about Gray's, I would have given it five stars, but my last purchase was a huge disappointment.I've been purchasing from Gray's for 2006 and I have watched while the quality of their clothing has dropped. I usually get a T-shirt from them each year, but I've noticed each year their T-shirt vendor changes and the quality of the fabric gets worse and worse. From 2006, the vendor used a thick high thread count fabric and now in 2011 it is fabric is thread bare and thin. Furthermore, my latest purchase, a T-shirt, had a huge tear in the fabric under the arm! Cheaper fabric, but prices stay high. Sorry Gray's you lost a customer.
