Used to Love this place when Jackie still owned it.Ever since he sold it to the new owners, i couldnt be bothered to ever go back.Food was poor quality, not even sure it was the right meat. Smells funny in there. My Star Rating System, since there cant be a 0 stars, I rank my decisions to eat somewhere again as:1 star - if someone else buys it I won't eat it, I would rather go hungry.2 star - if I'm hungry, no other options are open and someone buys it - I would consider eating it3 star - I'm ok with eating it as long as someone else pays4 star - I will eat again and pay for it and be a semi-regular customer5 star - I will travel for good food and pay good money and be back on a regular basis and maybe even pay for yours just so we can go

Got the teriyaki wings! Flavorful, even though the presentation has changed a bit over the years. Was able to use the website to order for pickup and the order was ready 10 minutes after I arrived.Service is prompt as always and the relaxed atmosphere while you wait for a takeout order is a nice touch. All menu items are very good and I recommend a visit next time you're in the area.

This week I had the pork fried rice. Now, for me, this is a staple of Chinese food. It was really nice. Tons of pork, onion, carrot, egg. We enjoyed it, and later added some grilled meat to it as leftovers.

AVOID THIS PLACE LIKE THE PLAUGEI am a Hampton native and go above and beyond to support local businesses over franchises for the sake of keeping mom and pop spots up and running in my city. This is what I do know, and the reason I'm even posting this review to begin with. I work on the Air Force Base and my children both work very very hard as well, and as we all know food and nothing else for that matter is cheap these days so on a Friday night when the only thing I ate today was a week old piece of birthday cake that was left in the fridge at work because we were so busy, I don't find it unreasonable to order some Chinese food. Even though Good Fortune is more expensive than a lot of other Chinese places I used to frequent there during prior ownership, and it was soooo worth the money when you wanted to splurge. I make it a point to not be too hard on folks that work their butts off for a living because my family knows the feeling. That being said we work very hard for the money we make and if we want a Friday night where we pick up some Chinese food and relax, I feel like it's warranted, and should be respected as such. My son went to pick up the food. He ordered the shrimp dumplings, which he said were so rank he wasn't able to eat them, he said the chicken on the stick was tolerable at best, and the lo mein tasted of nothing. I was a little bit sketched out by my food by the looks alone, so I waited until he formed his own opinion before I said anything about my food on the off chance that he liked it, but my food was deplorable and he reported to me the same without my influence. I ordered the hibachi steak and chicken with vegetables. It comes with zucchini, broccoli, and there's a little bit of onions in there, and the fried rice is literally just fried rice, there's no vegetables or anything in it. It's just it looks like brown rice. The steak was undercooked, and I don't mean undercooked like rare, it was over tenderized, in a process called "velveting" to where it didn't even have a steak texture anymore. It's just like a blob of fat chewing on it. The chicken, which, ordinarily, I expect to be a little bit overcooked just for the whole due diligence of public safety thing that I don't necessarily mind, it was the same texture as the steak. There was no meat texture there to the protein and I spit the first couple pieces out. The vegetables were undercooked and I don't mind cutting up my food. but ordinarily when I get something like hibachi, I don't expect to need a steak knife to cut it up. The size of the vegetables were huge (I don't mean portion, I mean, not even taking the time to cut them into bite sized pieces to eat), and honestly after the cooking of the meat, I was afraid to eat any more of the vegetables in the event of raw chicken and cross contamination. The broccoli and the zucchini were still completely raw. Icing on the cake, for my son and I the total came to over $50 and I called Good Fortune and told them ( so nicely it was almost apologetic) that my son was able to eat the chicken on the stick and some lo mein but I wasn't able to eat the 15- $20 hibachi container of stuff that I got, the shrimp dumplings were so rotten fishy my son couldn't eat them and the spring rolls although they were vegetable spring rolls, tasted like straight fish. Check out the photos, my hibachi dish was 17.50 before taxes alone. I told them that I was willing to pay for the items that we took more than a couple bites of but wanted to return the food we could not eat. I wanted to return for a refund and was willing to drive the food back up there. A Gentleman answered the phone and as soon as I stated what was happening, he immediately handed me off to a female who stated her name (after I asked) was Aimee or Amy ..,And she was "polite" enough to just tell me that we ordered the food online we took the food home (uh- isn't that how Takeout works?!) and that I just shouldn't come back for a couple months. If ever. Her words, not mine. No refund and don't come back. Raw meat, raw vegetables, food that is not supposed to taste like fish but does, and charging an arm and a leg for complete crap food at the cost of people that are living paycheck to paycheck and just wanted a nice Friday night off before the holidays. Good Fortune can kick rocks. I'd been going to the original Good Fortune for 20 years. These folks should be ashamed of themselves not just because the food was trash but because their customer service was deplorable.Ordinarily, I probably would've slept on this before. I posted a review of this magnitude, but I also want documentation in the event that I'm sick tomorrow and wind up in the hospital from food poisoning.Happy holidays while I eat my PB&J.

Giving 5 stars for my review update! I went to lunch here yesterday and found the restaurant very peaceful, clean and quiet. No loud music, yay! I was seated promptly by the server and ordered hot sour soup and hunan string beans. Let me tell you that soup was so hot, fresh and delicious! By far the best I've ever had, 10 stars!!! String beans were good too! Service was prompt. The only negative thing I have to say is my server was young and very socially awkward but that won't detain me from returning for that stellar soup!

This used to be my favorite restaurant a few years ago. The last time I visited the area which was in 2019/2020 the guard was excellent. I was in the area for a convention and was looking forward to enjoying a meal here. The host/owner whoever she was had a nasty attitude. I was barely in the r restaurant two minutes when she approached us in a badgering manner asking what we wanted to drink without even giving is time to settle in. I ignored her attitude and asked her to give us a few moments. Upon her return we ordered sodas and egg drop soup. The soup actually looked like they just literally cracked raw eggs and dropped it in like warm water. I should have taken a photo, but just looking at it made me nauseas. Told her we did not want it and I inquired was the establishment under new management and if so when did the change occur. Because I did not understand her, I repeated my question. Her response was, "I told you three years." Once again her attitude was horrible. Because I knew the reputation of the establishment of the previous owner, and I was looking forward to having a good meal (based on previous experience), once again I tuned out her attitude and placed my order. However, after placing our order, it sounded like her and the chef were in a full blown argument-not sure of it was because the soup was returned, but after a while we decided to leave. Long story short. I'll "NEVER STEP FOOT IN THIS PLACE AGAIN". They deserve 1/4 of a star. Greatly disappointed in this place. This confirmed my belief of never supporting a business when the parking spaces are empty. I would not take a mutt of the street to this establishment. I'm not exaggerating. Not sure if the previous owner is still alive, but if he is, he more than likely regrets selling that business along with its name to the current owner. I'll highly recommend boycotting this place and will advise you to take your business somewhere else.

TERRIBLE customer service! Owner called me and told me to 'fuck off' because I didn't pick up my food within 5 minutes. They called me from different numbers, 8 different times. THEY WILL HARASS YOU AND IF YOU DON'T PICK UP THEY WILL KEEP CALLING. PLEASE do not ignore the bad reviews. This place deserves to have no customers whatsoever.

The food, EXCEPTIONAL. The staff, horrible. Staff does the bare minimum. The food however, makes up for all the staffs excuse me can I have do you have a containers specifically for the gravy and a top for this short comings. They're not "nasty," or mean, just inattentive once you order, and while you're eating. Because every time I've patronized this establishment, the food has been good, the staff's shortcomings are over looked. Perfect example... I've eaten, set my food aside, found this site after I'd eaten, fount the restaurant on the site, wrote, edited and posted this review, and not ONCE, have I seen my waiter. So, it plummeted after the bill came, when I asked for gravy and fried rice to accommodate the egg foo yung pattie's I didn't eat. An up charge. No big deal. No one asked for peas and carrots in the plain fried rice. This is the FIRST TIME I have ever not left a tip. Star bump for sure. Tragic that the service level doesn't match the food level and quality.
