I order chicken wings and beef fried rice. The Beef was spoiled, and had a rotton smell. The chicken was also meeting expiration however it was edible. When I return to explain the situation, and what I experience the lady was very rude and uncerned with that fact that she was serving spoiled meat to the public.I suggest you take a vitamin C before eating at this restaurant....

With my wife being of Chinese heritage and also being a VERY busy physics teacher we decided to celebrate the lunar new year by ordering American style Chinese take out for dinner.With our local favorite having closed last year we are still searching for a new place that provides delivery since I'm a disabled veteran and picking up food is a bit difficult.So throwing caution to the wind we ordered from Golden City and we were pleasantly surprised! Overlooking, the expected delivery delay (1 hour, due to many orders and 1 delivery driver). Plus the unexpected but based on previously posted reviews wrong order item; (fried dumplings instead of steamed dumplings). The entire experience was great!We all ordered combination plates. I kept it simple and went for the Pepper Steak. The order arrived still hot and aromatic. The scent of 5 spice mixture was easily detected. The red and green bell peppers were firm but tender to the bite. The steak was tender and flavorful as was the sauce. The onions were perfectly cooked as well. The only detractor was the lack of vegetables in the fried rice. Other than peas, there was nothing else besides the spices to set this effort apart from any other. My wifes order of cashew chicken was perfect. The pieces were perfectly diced and tender all the way through. Her substitution of steamed rice was not an issue and was handled perfectly. My stepson had the vegetable lomein. The noodles were perfectly aldenté, with the right amount of bite to them. The sauce was flavorful and the vegetables were crisp and fresh.As for our sides, the egg rolls. They were perfect. The wrappers were crisp and warm and far from greasy. The stuffing was fresh as well. These by far were the best take out egg rolls we have had in 18 months! The fried dumplings were equally delicious. The meat filling was fresh and flavorful. The "red sauce" provided for dipping was also a nice change of pace. It wasn't the overly sickly sweet Kool Aid type sauce that most places serve. This was actually slightly sweet and and savory. All in all this was a great order and we will order from them again! Even when I called the restaurant to check on our order, the woman I spoke with was quite pleasant. Besides the 2 minor glitches, we were happy with our experience overall and can highly recommend this establishment!

I'm here in Norfolk for my son-in-law's arrival from a deployment with the Navy. His fave thing is Gen Tso chicken and he has gone five long months with no Chinese food so this is #1 on the agenda. Golden city came recommended by the hotel staff and after I checked the yelp reviews I was hesitant but then my daughter checked the reviews on grub hub and they were amazing so we decided to give it a try and so glad we did!! Food came to our hotel room piping hot, wonton soup full of flavor and the best beef teriyaki I have ever had!! Lunch orders were so huge we have leftovers for tomorrow. Not sure what is wrong the my fellow yelpers but this place deserves a higher rating.

The food that is served here is delicious. Lunch/dinner prices are always reasonable and it's always packed. I would not eat in the dining area. The dining area isn't always the cleanest and I've had multiple people sit in there while you wait for your to be made. If you do decide to order here...take yours to go. They offer coupons through mail, which is a plus. One other thing they could work on is the parking lot as well. Parking is terrible, lines aren't painted, and there are plenty of big holes for your car tires to hit.

Okay so POSITIVES first haha. The delivery is quick, they said it would take 30 mins and it took about 15! The lady that delivered it would not leave her car making us reach in, which whatever, no big deal, just seemed lazy! Anyway we are eating it currently and are very disappointed. Everything taste old. My General Tzos taste like General Hunts Ketchup and it's way over cooked. The rice is okay, but it seems to have one of those bags of vegetable you get in the frozen isle tossed in it. My boyfriend is eating the Bourbon Chicken and he said "It taste like a used boot after the person ran through an onion feild." He usually eats alot when we had chinese and he's finished after 4 bites. On the brightside we got 3 orders of white rice we didn't order or want but it taste normal! I just hope we weren't charged extra for it.On an side note, I could have gotten 4 meals at Chipotle for the price.UPDATE: FOREVER SHITTING

Ok I am not going to say this place is good nor bad because I respect any family owned business but I believe they have had so many bad experiences with customers that they unfortunately treat all of US the same which I try to overlook. I have had awesome food from this place more than I've had bad food but unfortunately this was the 2nd time I've had an issue with my food and they acted like it my fault or something. I asked for them to remake it and they did of course with an attitude which is hard to understand when I was very polite and even said thank you after. This location is close to my home so I may or may not order from them again based on the location being convenient. So definitely a hit or miss is all I can say.

This particular Chinese restaurant is great if you are planning on doing a luncheon or something for school or business. They do big orders quickly and they can deliver everything (on time I might add). If you speak Chinese, they can understand/speak Mandarin and understand Cantonese (supposedly, but I have never been a witness to this). They have some great deal for lunches where you can get a meal and soda for a ridiculous price of $4 or $5. Their menu appears to be more extensive than most other places (even though in general it's about the same). For example, they have oyster sauce beef which they don't have at other places. They have sit down... and a drive thru! Yes, a Chinese restaurant with a drive thru!

My order was so hot when I got it I would've thought I was outside the kitchen. The lemonade was perfect. I highly recommend, I'm not ordering from anyone else !! We order chicken lo mein, chicken wings, crab Rangoon and sweet and sour chicken. My friends wanted me to order again after they finished lol, thank you so much!
