Golden City II Chinese Restaurant

I just had the Cajun wings and they were perfect. Service is always with a smile and sunny disposition. The store is cleaner than it ever was. The people that own this store are very friendly and sweet.

I've lived in and visited this area very often and I always make my way back to Golden City II. The restaurant is very small inside, but the small family running the business are fantastic! You can immediately see how much they care about the care and preparation that goes into the food...just watch the woman who works the front desk keep her eye on every dish being prepared while also manning the phone, the register, the delivery people, wiping down tables, etc. I've eaten 50% of their menu and taken at least a dozen people there and never had a person say a single bad word. Bottom-line: it's exemplary hole-in-the-wall authentic Chinese food!

Currently staying on Naval Station Norfolk for training and was with a friend in my hotel looking for some Chinese food that can deliver on base.I noticed the reviews for this place were decent, so we thought we'd give it a try. And we were pleasantly surprised! The food arrived about 40-50 minutes after we ordered. The driver was very kind and smiled and told us to enjoy the food and have a nice day (sometimes it's the small things!).The food was delicious. We ordered general tso's chicken, chow mein, hot and sour soup, egg rolls, wontons, and teriyaki chicken (yes, we went a little overboard haha). Everything was fantastic and the portions were very hearty! I must say the hot and sour soup was my favorite! Very flavorful and the perfect consistency. We have all heard, don't judge a book by it's cover, same with Golden City II and it's location. (Admin note: my fotos contain most up to date menu as of June 2023.) As soon as you walk in, you can ascertain they have a large delivery business. The working parts of the restaurant is a really large kitchen with a small to medium size dining area. The place is clean. The tables, chairs are clean, the garage can is clean, restroom is clean. Upon entering I had to wait a few minutes to order but that's because the woman working the telephone, register, packing up pick up orders, deliveries, essentially anything other than cooking was very patiently dealing with an large order on the phone, explaining dishes, changing their order, adding and subtracting dishes.I was pleased with the food. I wish I received more beef in my beef and broccoli, but such is life. I liked she packed the sauce in a separate container. That way you aren't eating something drowning in sauce. Egg foo young was...ok to good. Egg drop soup had a good flavor with lots of egg. The broth was very thick, thicker than I'm accustomed to...I will order from here again. They have a huge menu selection to choose from on the next visit.

We stopped on our way out of Norfolk. The general tsos was an unknown meat. The egg roll was so tiny. We would not recommend this Chinese restaurant.

Chinese fast food is a seldom pleasure! Occasionally, I think you just crave it! This has been the most decent tasting local Chinese fast food I've found during my time here in VA. Especially, as I've seen a lot of them are closing shop in the Norfolk area. The store looks like it's kept clean and the people taking orders are friendly. The food is not as expensive as most and still they have found a way to deliver quality. Good on them!

Super fast takeout!! Great price for the quality of their food. Not a crazy fancy restaurant but definitely get you filled without hurting your wallet. Thanks!!

Always fresh food. Even with the delivery it's still piping hot and delicious. We eat here about once a week. The lemonade is fire too.

Why this place only has three stars is beyond me. My husband and I were driving past, and we both said "oh that place looks like it would be good as hell" and boy lemme tell you It did NOT disappoint!!Some of the best Lo Mein I have ever had. Hubby got the orange chicken, and when I asked him to describe how it was to me he said "I don't know, it was just good!" My sweet and sour chicken was absolutely amazing as well. The lady working the front desk was so sweet and super nice. She wasn't there to mess around though, definitely there to get her job done. The kitchen looked clean, but definitely well used so you know they get business. Overall, don't skip this place. It was absolutely amazing and we will definitely be visiting again.

They knowingly have a pest problem and instead of taken the appropriate measures and caring for the health of the customers they serve, they continue to serve customers food risking their health. I was served shrimp fried rice with bugs in it. When I drove back to the restaurant with my full order from my home 23 minutes away, a female employee said "sorry we have pest control come"; looked inside the box then showed me and asked me where the bugs was at. Like to show her. How respectful can you be...serve me bugs and tell me prove it. I lost all meals within a 24 hour period for the past 20+ minutes trying to drive back over and can barely even talk to ask for a refund from my throat being irritated all to basically be smacked in the face for you to basically tell me prove it.
