As beginners the Flameworked Beads class the Chrysler Museum was focused on how to melt colorful glass sticks with a torch, spin the glass around metal rods, and form it into beads. Also, the instructor introduced us to the tools used to manipulate the shape of the beads and color application techniques to create unique designs and patterns. The class was small and intimate; there was only seven students. We had a fabulous instructor who was extremely patient. The instructor answered everyone's questions and provided assistance as we all attempted to apply the techniques he shared with us. After our beads cooled off; we removed them from the metal rods and took them home the same day. Several of my beads broke or didn't want to come off the medal rod; so, the instructor gave me a few of his. The instructor provided us with a necklace to place our beads on.Note: I purchased a museum membership and received a 20% discount on the course. If you plan to attend other museum activities or take additional glassmaking courses I recommend the membership.

Had a fun Mother's Day visit to the Chrysler Art Museum's Glass Studio. A great demonstration of glass blowing and quite educational too! Highly recommend a visit during their demonstration times.

I attendee the gallery during the Glass after Dark event. It was packed house of enthusiasts witnessing the art of blowing glass. The host was very engaging while he introduced the team and informed us of the classes conducted throughout the week, which I have been eager to experience . There was also a DJ providing an artsy vibe the entire night. With the mood set the audience mingled over beverages and lights snacks while the team put their sweat and strength into a sculpture that resembled a human with a horn.

I've been wanting to check out a glass blowing class for a while now but the price is usually a bit steep. My job put together a charity event here and the price was reasonable so I decided to give it a go. First, I can't rave enough about the staff!! They worked with our team to accommodate a larger group since it was so well received. Our coworkers brought friends, family, and kids and all were welcomed and had a blast. For this event, we were making a candy dish. The staff walked each person through the process and included us as much as possible! You get to handle the rod with the molten glass, dip the glass into the coloring chips, rotate the rod inside the furnace, and use a blow tube to shape the glass. The staff is right by you every step of the way, helping you adjust and providing suggestions for various effects. It was a great experience. They were also very safety conscious, which alleviated concerns for the kids that joined us. It is definitely suitable for kids aged 6+. I was notified today that my glass dish is ready for pickup, so I'm super excited to see how it turned out. I'll be checking out other classes and hope to bring some of the family this time!

I purchased my husband a $250.00 gift certificate for a private glass blowing session, which was about two months before his birthday. He attempted to schedule - left six messages on their voice mail but nobody called him back so he couldn't use the certificate.Myself and my daughter both tried calling as well but nobody answered the phone or called us back. The certificate is good for one year otherwise it is voided....so we decided to go all four of us to a starfish glass blowing workshop using the certificate. For that we just walked in on a Sunday, registered, paid with the certificate and participated in the workshop. The studio was supposed to call us to arrange a pick-up time for the four glass starfish but nobody did(?) and again when we attempted to call, nobody answered the phone or returned our calls. What happened to our four starfish that we created? I wanted an answer so I called the main museum and left a message to three different managers but none returned my phone calls. Shameful.

Wow did we have fun at the candy dish class. Karl was wonderful, and worked with both the children and adults helping us maximize what we could do towards making our bowls. Love how it turned out, the process and everything about it.

I was in town for work for a couple days, and in looking for things to do stumbled upon the Glass Studio after leaving the Chrysler Museum. I went in at the right time as they were just beginning their noon time demo. The instructors explain the various processes for creating different types of glass work. They then did a demonstration, and on the day I was there they were made a glass globe for what would eventually be a Magic 8 Ball for a local artist.I enjoyed the demo so much I decided to take a glass blowing class later that day. The class was designed to be very welcoming, and there were young kids as well as grandparents in attendance. Most people seems to be either on a family trip or a date, but I was still comfortable being the only person there on my own. In the class we each made a candy dish, and got to choose which color glass we wanted to create. It was a great hands on experience, and a great intro to glass blowing.

I LOVED my experience here. I came on a weekday with my grandmother to see the glass demo. The woman performing was very detailed. She was vocal with every step she took & why she took it. I found this not only intriguing but helpful because I know NOTHING about making glass. I would recommend this experience to anyone curious & ready to learn something new. Very nice & friendly staff. Loved, loved LOVED. I will be returning.

I stopped by this museum to do a glass blowing glass and it was very fun and interesting. We made Christmas ball ornaments for the tree. To start they let you pick up to two colors for your ornament. I was actually surprised at how hands on the class was given that you will be working with hot glass at extreme temperatures. The instructors gathered the hot glass from the fire and the student got to dip the glass in the two colors that you picked and roll the glass around, then we moved to the fire pit and got to cook the glass in the fire until the colors melted into the glass. After that the instructor took control to shape the glass into the ornament while the student blows into the glass from the other end with a tube to expand the glass. Once that is completed the instructor melts and shape the hook into place on the ornament and is taken to the back to cool for a few days. This was a lot of fun and definitely a fun family idea. I would love to go back and do some of their other classes to make different things.

Lovely experience. I tagged along with my husband for a glass blowing class just to watch. This place is well laid out to see what people are doing and on the floor for those working. The staff was so incredibly friendly, professional and safety was their first and foremost concern. They were like the comforting elementary school teacher who shows you and guides you just enough in the class. I will definitely recommend anyone coming for a class, a date or just to watch!
