Gimme the Sweets

Wednesday 8/14/2024I randomly found this spot when I was driving around VA beach and after looking at some pictures of the items, I was interested. My main interest came from seeing cinnamon rolls in a few pictures. I arrived the next day and unfortunately they didn't have any cinnamon rolls but they did have various cakes, cheesecakes, and others. I couldn't leave empty handed so I decided to get the strawberry shortcake cheesecake $9.I'm not really crazy about cheesecake in general but this one was pretty good and I'd prolly give it a rating of a 8.1/10. Overall, I ended up having a decent experience and I would definitely be open to coming back so I can try their sweet potato cheesecake which looked really good.

The owner is really nice. When we walked in she greeted us right away , she was baking goodies. It smelled good in there. Like Mmmm mmm good!! Its a cute little bakery with cheesecakes, pies, pound cakes, brownies, lemonade, pasta and chicken salad, and more. Her menu changes so call ahead if your looking for something in particular. She also does special orders for customized cakes.I got the caramel pound cake, lemon pound cake, and red velvet cakes today. They're a good portion size. I wasn't a fan of the caramel cake. It was a weird after taste. But it looked really good. The lemon cake was pretty good with a nice glaze. The red velvet cake was ok, the frosting was very light. I wasn't a fan of it cold, but it came together once i heated it up. My sister got the oreo cheesecake and it was yummy!! Lots of cookies inside...The prices are reasonable and there's a good variety of baked goods. Her cheesecakes looked very good in the fridge. Check them out!!

Stop what you are doing right now. Get in the car and drive as fast as you can to GIMME THE SWEETS. Lie, steal, you might even have rob Peter to pay Paul...do whatever you have to do to get that banana pudding! Yes, it really is ALL THAT. They even give you a fork when you order it because you won't even make it out the parking lot before you break the seal. And honey child, I will sit right here while you take that first bite...Go ahead...I'll wait...See? I told you! The crunch of that cookie with that delicious pudding slides over your taste buds like a sensual dance. When someone coined the phrase "this is heavenly" they MUST have been talking about this banana pudding.But why stop at the BP? Grab a slice of that homemade, taste-like-grandmama-endorsed-the-recipe, lemon pound cake. Each slice is individually packaged and the icing is added AFTER the cake is cut. That means a bite of lemony glaze with every bite. We grabbed the vanilla pound cake while we were there and if it couldn't get any better, they had a POP UP SHOP event and D'Lish catering was there with what should be his WORLD FAMOUS seafood salad and hot crab dip! MIND BLOWING! We bought one serving; took one bite and went BACK INSIDE to grab another one of those crab dips. I suspect D'Lish will have a food truck or a brick and mortar restaurant very soon. I found Gimme the Sweets on Instagram; but now that I know they are in Va Beach,I am going to be a "regular" now!

Gimme The Sweet's is a very cute little dessert shop. You can purchase something's if you like to bake at home as well. We went just trying a few places we've not been yet. Okay so I went in and seen that she had two types of cheesecake one was strawberry crunch the only reason I didn't try that one was because the bottoms where the sauce runs made the bottoms look soggy. So my pick was her Oreo cheesecake and yum! That is so good. I also tried her Carmel toffee pound cake. This to me was not all that great not the worst that I've had. I would even buy it again and just freak it myself just to see maybe it was an off day. The owner is nice, answer's all question's you have just a really nice lady. I hope her shop continues to excel. Now I will say I tasted my sister's lemon glaze pound cake and that was damn good. Gimme Sweet's does a bit of everything cupcakes, cookies, pastas, strawberry and regular lemonade by the half gallon I believe. Her ref velvet cake could use a few tweaks her cream cheese frosting is a little bit to light and airy All of the red velvets I've tried all had that thick sweet creamy cream cheese frosting. But I guess some folks like that airy kinda frosting. Just not how I prefer mine to be. Over all a very cute simple sweet shop. Check her out that Oreo cheesecake and that lemon glaze is so good.

Oh my goodness! Out of all of the bakeries I've been to in the area, this one takes the cake! No pun intended LOL My boyfriend and I came in last weekend, and got a slice of strawberry shortcake cheesecake and some strawberry brownies! The cheesecake was delicious, but those brownies...CHANGED MY LIFE! I took the brownies home and warmed them up in the microwave for 15 seconds and I felt my soul leave my body! The customer service delivered by the staff was excellent. I was greeted upon entry, thanked for my patronage, and told to have a good day. The whole ambiance in this bakery was pleasant and welcoming. I would definitely recommend and make Gimme the Sweets part of my dessert routine! I do hope they come out with some non-dairy options soon!

If I see a bakery sign I will stop. This didn't disappoint. New locally owned bakery. The pecan cinnamon roll was really good. Can wait to go back and try more. The owner is very friendly and welcoming.

This place is super good! I love their dessert selection, it gives you some of your favorites like sweet Potato pie, banana pudding, lemon pound cake, and more! I have a video review on my insta @stormyeats so you can see videos of their desserts! Definitely check this place out.

First time customer, had no expectations, but loove me some sweets. First impression upon walking in was how homey and inviting this place is. I'd like to add that the place is spotless, which is always an indicator of the people and the pride they take in their products. We were greeted immediately with smiles by the owner. She was so accommodating and nice, we tried many things and none of them disappointed. My favorite was the banana pudding, omg. Their oatmeal cookies are addictive, incredibly tasty and moist. I would give more than 5 stars if I could. Will most definitely be back and recommend 100%!

This sweet little mom and pop bakery does not disappoint. They keep a smaller menu and do everything well. We enjoy everything from their sweets to their lemonades
