Game's Farmers Market was one of the places we stopped in the search for a certain candy introduced to us after dinner at a nearby Thai restaurant in Newport News, VA. It seemed promising when we walked in as it looked esoteric compared to the others markets we checked. No cigar, but we were intrigued by the huge quantities of touchable fresh local produce, meats, spices, candies, etc. They had a lot of unusual stuff, too, but not that hard sucking coffee candy from Indonesia. Still worth the time to see what was going on. The place is housed in a barn-like warehouse. The aisles are narrow, and the lighting less than ideal for reading labels. Both could stand some improvement, but there were plenty of people shopping there for the obvious values available and the freshness of their inventory. If we lived around here, I can see us coming to Game's for our green grocery needs and sometime bakery or butcher products, and the more modern supermarkets for canned or packaged goods that have less demanding sell by dates.

I was very disappointed when I oven baked a slab of pork spareribs I purchased last week. It came out dry and tasted just like a pork butt instead of spareribs. I know how to cook them been doing it for 50 years

Don't be fooled by the exterior - looks like a real farmers market with its barn style building but it's like a cross between Asian food market and typical grocery store. Something different are the baseball jerseys of hung overhead above where the cashiers are so you can have a view when you're in line to pay. They have a section with big sign just for cheese. The had crepe mix which was the only item I bought.

Was on my way to do some errands when I ran across this Farmer's market. So I decided to pop in and give it a look see...One of the first things I noticed was the large selection of pre cut and packaged fresh veggies. Talk about easy to use and easy to see the quality of food in the bags. This place was awesome with the rows of fresh and frozen veggies they offered. As I continued down the isles, I ran across what seemed like endless containers of "old school" candies, gummies, and chocolates... It was like being transported back in time to an old school candy store. So many options, but I broke down and snagged a container of Austrailian red licorice. This store has everything you could want. From house cleaning products, cooking products, storage products, candy, and beer to fresh produce and meats...they even have a massive spice isle full of beautiful spices. Swing by and check out the goods! I know this place is on my grocery stop simply for the cheeses and the Amish butter!

Fantastic little place to support more of the local companies. They have a wide range of spices in bulk, pie fillings and crusts, local vegetables, and okay butcher with a large selection of meats, and some classic staples. It was a little darker and dirty, but made up for it with some competitive pricing. Some things were cheap while others more expensive; shop around and compare, but this place was a nice change of pace than Costco or Walmart.

I love the natural quirkiness of this place. It's the only place on the peninsula where I can find Blue Bell ice cream. There are also bulk spices for those who don't want to drop a mortgage payment for more than an ounce of sage.

I wouldn't call this a Farmers' Market, but this store does have a lot of items from candy, spices, meats, alcohol, etc. The produce seems to be like most grocery stores. However, I did buy some tomatoes and peaches I can't wait to try later. I also love that they have a lot of items from Pennsylvania/NJ like Taylor Pork Roll! Can't wait to have my pork roll, egg, and cheese sandwich tomorrow morning! The store is congested, but I found the customers to be very pleasant and understanding. The cashier wasn't very pleasant at all, but maybe he was just having a bad day. Who knows? Prices seemed a little high but I think that is expected at smaller local stores like this one. Worth the trip to check out!

If I could give it less than 1 star I would. I'm sure it was normal but there were an awful lot of the fruits and vegetables that were rotted and or rotting. We mentioned to the young man that was tending to the vegetables that there were rotten vegetables in there. The response was that they weren't allowed to remove them - that was the sign to exit. Don't get me wrong but don't tell me you have fresh food and it's rotten to the core. I didn't look but I'm sure there's a lot of expired stuff on the shelves and in freezers. Nasty just plain nasty!
