Raw Oysters
Corn and Crab Chowder. I wish that I had gone with a bowl instead of a cup of this delicious chowder.

As we arrived at Fish and Slips, there was plenty of parking. We did have a bit of a walk to the restaurant as it is located on a pier over the water. As we entered, we were greeted by the staff. We were seated and served immediately! We were impressed with the service. We placed our order, the food was fresh as if the chef just caught our seafood! This is unlike any other restaurant!caI wish I could give Fish and Slips more than five stars! Definitely recommend!!

Visiting Norfolk, I was invited to happy hour at Fish & Slips, so I crossed the river for some grub. The place was busy, but not crowded. And the happy hour menu gave me fresh raw oysters - slightly briny and very sloppy - and a blackened tuna sandwich to fill me up. Perfectly cooked, the tuna sandwich wasn't too spicy, but had a lot of flavor, balanced with the buttery bun and crisp lettuce and juicy tomato. The Old Bay fries may have been the best part of the meal, I ate every single one. If you're looking for a fun venue made for a group outing, Fish & Slips is the place for good seafood and a vibrant atmosphere.

I great location to sit and relax. We sat outside and had a beautiful evening. The servers were all very nice and helpful. We had some happy hour cocktails that were ok. I would recommend going with wine or beer because the drinks seemed really weak. The food we had was all delicious. I would definitely go back again!

Cool restaurant over the water looking towards Waterside/Elizabeth River. A short walk over from Renaissance hotel. Great happy hour specials and an excellent view. Servers were all very friendly and attentive. I got the special which was stuffed flounder and it was loaded with crab meat! I couldn't finish all of mine. Definitely will return.

Tried Fish & Slips for lunch with a friend. Restaurant sits on the water at the marina so there is plenty of parking. You park in the marina lot and walk down to the restaurant. There's really no signs to tell you which way to walk so look UP because the name is on the top then you'll see there's only one way to get there. It's a little confusing! It was a nice day so we sat outside and had great service. Wait staff was very attentive. I didn't go inside, but the outside ambiance was great for lunch. It was nice to look over at Waterside and look at all of the beautiful boats. We ordered the Lump Crab Dip for an appetizer. That was really good. Not a lot of filler, lots of crab meat and that portion is big. It's definitely shareable and could be a meal for one. Buffalo Shrimp Tacos as the lunch meal....meh. Just ok, nothing special. I would try the restaurant again, just wouldn't order the Buffalo shrimp tacos. Highlight of the place is the location. Highly recommend going on a nice day and sitting outside.

So this rating is mainly due to the service and somewhat the food that I am only giving three stars. I loved the location/ambiance and for the 757 area it definitely is hard to find a nice by the waterfront seafood restaurant so it was really great to find this place.I definitely would recommend going once on a nice sunny day to hang out by the waterfront with a gorgeous view of the marina and just sit outside and order some good seafood and appetizers! We went for a work lunch and we got a calamari for the table which was good but nothing extraordinary in my opinion and then we all ordered different sandwiches with fries. Again the fries were just average and a little bit soggy for my taste and the sandwich was nothing special either. Out of everything I would definitely get the calamari again as it was not too oily or too breaded. Service wise our waiter was definitely not on top of our orders and we had to remind him multiple times about certain dishes and he did not even give us dip for the fries that he kept saying he would bring out. He would also randomly come into our conversations which I do not mind once or twice, but he kept on trying to talk to us and ask too many questions about our personal lives. If it were not for this would maybe have given it a four star but even then the food was not anything crazy to rave about especially because the portion size for the pricing was also not ideal.Would recommend for someone who wants seafood once or a nice view but besides that might not go again myself.

*THE BEST HAPPY HOUR*Shrimp for 9.99, select wine and beer, and an oyster special! I couldn't ask for anything more from this place. The view is to die for and the staff was wonderful, our server was Hannah and she was awesome! The food came out in great timing. We ordered SO much, I don't all remember but it was extremely tasty. The seafood was extremely fresh and seasoned very well. Let's say, I'll be back. This place is tucked so I would consider this place a hidden gem but nevertheless I was satisfied for sure. 1000000/10

Okay so first of all look no further for an amazing dinner for cheap with a fantastic view. My bf & I were in town and wanted to dine on the water and were craving some good seafood. I found this gem on Yelp & off we went ! It's literally on a dock so we were surrounded on all sides by water. We got drinks at the bar while we waited (not long) for a table. We dined inside since it was a bit chilly, but I was able to see the gorgeous sunset right from my seat. Our server Lauren was a sweetheart !We got there just in time for happy hour & we took full advantage. 99¢ oysters & wings, 79¢ clams, $3 beers. The raw oysters were freaking amazing and so fresh and bigger than I'm used to from up north. The wings were great, as were the steamed clams. I ordered the salmon special which came with rainbow chard & fingerling potatoes and the bf got the 1/2 pound tuna and he chose veggies as his 2 sides. We were both blown away at the portions, quality and the incredible bang for your buck! You will absolutely not regret dining here !! We will be back next time we are in town for sure.

The restaurant is on a pier that you have to reach by crossing a few footbridges. One rocked back and forth a bit which I didn't mind but my friend found it to be unsettling, so keep this in mind if anyone in your party is adverse to things like that. The views from the restaurant are pretty nice due to the location. The vibe of the restaurant is pretty chill. We sat at a high table in the front bar area with a nice window view. I ordered a single crab cake and the lump crab dip which both were fresh and delicious. The crab cake had minimal filler. The dip was a bit on the sharp side, but I love sharp cheddar so I didn't mind. The accompanying chips were hot and fresh. Unfortunately the raw oysters were strangely warm while the plate itself was cold. It was off-putting so we sent them back and the oysters were comped. The service left much to be desired, but there's an automatic 18% gratuity (which the waitress forgot to charge and had to re-run the receipt), so I suppose there is no incentive to improve. We had two different servers which was confusing at times, but at least we always had someone to assist us when needed. One of the servers seemed high and repeatedly asked us the same questions as if she didn't ask before. This is a great place for some quick bites and fresh seafood if you want something lowkey and casual. I do wish the entrance was more easily accessible for those who don't like walking across water, though.

Comparatively speaking the food is pretty pricey, but I get it...you're eating out in 2025 so is what it is I guess. That being said I ordered a medium-cooked tuna sandwich and the tuna was served spoiled. The meat which was left medium-cooked was grey and smelled/tasted spoiled. I get it mistakes happen, but frankly Helen Keller could have known this was spoiled fish being served. I notified the waitress to let her know the food was bad, and she was kind enough...but she let me know the wait staff aren't allowed to determine if something being sent back is legit and that a manager has to make that decision. That tells me the leadership doesn't trust their wait staff to act remotely autonomous...seems kind of suspect and micromanaged. The manager did come over and she was very kind and took the food back and removed it from my bill. So is what it is there. Then the bill came. We were taxed on the amount for the bill with the rancid fish meal included. Moreover we were given an automatic gratuity tax...cleverly disguised as a "service charge." Then when you actually pay the bill they ask for another tip on top of what you've already paid in automatically charged tips...very sneaky and underhanded way to milk money out of un suspecting customers. The icing on top was that our restaurant tax was calculated with the bill including the rancid tuna dish.A kids cheese quesadilla, lunch portion flounder tacos, and 4 beers equates to $85.00 kind of a bummer considering I did used to like the ambiance at this place and enjoyed the beers.
