First Landing Charters

We booked the sunset cruise and every part of the experience exceeded our expectations. Captain Jay was extremely knowledgeable, courteous, and friendly. We were able to bring our own food and drinks onboard, and had the option to play whatever music we wanted. We told Jay that we wanted to see dolphins, and he knew exactly where to go for that. We did end up seeing lots of dolphins, and Jay also gave us a lot of fun facts about dolphins as well. I would 100% recommend taking a ride with Jay, for any of the available tours, and I already can't wait to come back to VA beach to take a ride with him again!

Had an excellent sunset cruise with friends. Captain Jay was so friendly and informative too. Very relaxing and fun. and I highly recommend. We saw so many dolphins, they were so playful and jumping around the boat. Please note, because you are in nature every experience will be unique, so make it your own and stay open to what unfolds for you. We will be booking another adventure soon. Many thanks!

As a traveling consultant, my down time is very limited and it is often difficult to take in much of what each location offers. My experience on First Landing Charters is definitely one to remember. Captain Jay tailored my excursion to exactly what I needed as I built memories of Virginia Beach.

Captain Jay was an amazing captain, it was safety first and boat was spotless! We explored the beautiful Chesapeake Bay dolphin watching and enjoying the sun!

I'm an airline pilot so I go lots of places and see lots of stuff. Had my son join me and we decided to fish. I had used First Landing once before with a co-pilot and had a great time (even saw some whales!) Captain Jay grew up on and around these waters - he knows everyone and everything. His boat is clean, roomy, and smooth in choppy water. He put us right on the fish and we had an amazing time. In addition to fishing, First Landing also does dolphin trips, sunset trips, bachelorette parties and other fun stuff. He also talked about some kind of adventure trip with a special operations theme. Next time we are here, I'm in!

Captain Jay runs his First Landing Charters business so smoothly and professional. The boat is squeaky clean and spotless, it's beautiful! He is very attentive to your questions and concerns. You can tell he has great boating experience and cares deeply about all his passengers safety. I had a lovely experience and would highly recommend First Landing Charters! SO WORTH IT!

Capt. Jay and Wendell brought so much warmth to our chilly trip! Hanging out with them (and the sweetest Labrador, Libby) felt like a boat day with a couple of old friends. Easy conversation, good fishing holes, and a solid overall trip. 10/10 recommended booking with this company "You can't drink all day if you don't start in the morning!"

Bought a fishing trip for my husband who is an experienced fisherman. Not once did he touch a fishing pole. It became a five hour cruise instead of a fishing trip and watching the staff fish. We were not offered any drinks (thank God I brought my own and it was a hot day). He and my six year old grandson were both looking forward to the fishing trip. My grandson was able to get his hands onto a fishing pole, my husband did not. He was very angry over the whole experience (again, a cruise and not a fishing trip). I wanted this to be an enjoyable experience for my husband and it was not. He has PTSD and I wanted an enjoyable experience for him. This was not, he was upset, and was a waste of valuable money and time. Let your customers fish. That's what they are paying you for, not to watch you and your staff fish. Plus, if the fish aren't biting, fine, just let the customer throw out his/her line to fish. I can't give this company a good review.

Our excursion was with Captain Dominic. First half of our trip was five star. During the second half the speed was such that I had to ask him to please slow down as we were being thrown about (while seated) We slowed for a few minutes only. Two days later we're all nursing sore backs. Three stars because we created good memories and dined on fresh fish for dinner.

I went out for cobia, was told the fish are here. But Captain Jay & mate Jake couldn't find them. We spent 4 hours and $650., including tip, for a boat ride that went about 5 miles from Lynnhaven. There was not one hookup, nor a bump, nor a knockdown. Yet we saw at least 4 other boats land cobia. We are experienced fishermen. I live on the water and fish nearly every day, and have been on many charters in many states. This ranks as one of the most disappointing trips ever.There was no apology or reduction in fee, despite the subpar experience. We just felt our captain didn't care. I can't recommend First Landing at all.
