Everything about this festival is amazing!!! This was my 2nd year attending and I wasn't disappointed. All the Virginia wines, food, and vendors were amazing. They have something for everyone I got to try Meeds for the first time and I loved it. Check in was fast and efficient and we got some swag which is always a plus.Everyone was friendly.

What a fun festival. This was the first year my girls and I made a girls day out of this event, and we had such a great time. Parking was different as it's like on your own, in neighborhoods or wherever you find, and a few lots that were charging to park. There were so many vendors for both food and wine, as well as vendors selling local and handmade goods. Lines were decently long all day, so just prepare to be waiting. Definitely helps to have folks with you in line to talk to and just pass the time by for the different booths. I didn't know what to expect considering location, but this was a diverse festival with all kinds of people in attendance, so it felt comfortable and welcoming throughout. I'm looking forward to making this part of my annual list of festivals to attend.

Held annually at the Powhatan Courthouse, the Festival of the Grape is an excellent crush, with an accent on crush. Always crowded, the venue actually purported to have sold out tickets to the 2014 event [to great distress all round] and even on the cool October afternoon this year was impressively busy. With thirty wineries, mostly Virginian, there is a lot of tasting to do though it requires some patience to get through the packed bodies around all of the tasting tables to get your glass close enough for pouring. The wineries are outnumbered by the craft vendors and supported by several really solid food vendors who will happily sell you sammiches, kettle corn, and all sorts of other things. All in all, it's an excellent way to spend a few hours if you're fond of wine, though the DD tickets aren't priced at a discount, so I suggest just bringing friends for good conversation while you sober up enough to drive home.
