Fat Ducks Seafood & Soul Food Express

We arrived when they opened on a Saturday cause we happened to be in the neighborhood looking for brunch and saw this was soul food place. We had no problem with the food being sold in the back of a convenient store. But the convenient store is absolutely gross though... So they should probably move to another spot. The food was.. well....the sides were old looking and reheated. The fish was fried on the spot and the wings had a weird coating on them. I wouldn't go back.

Let me start by saying, this was not my first visit to Fat Duck's. I've come before and had the pork chop dinner & it was sooooooo darn good! I've also had the shrimp basket and ribs. One time I had mashed potatoes, unfortunately they were instant mashed potatoes so I didn't enjoy those. I've also had the the cabbage, macaroni & cheese and yams and they did not disappoint. They also have GOOD rice pudding, when it's available.. desserts vary. Today I called for ribs (because they're so good I had been thinking about them all day at work) and found out they were out. So I ended up getting BBQ chicken wingettes with fries & a drink. These fries were soggy when I got home and I'm only about 5 minutes away my chicken was okay. Luckily I had potato salad as a backup side... And it is good! Really wish the fries weren't soggy though, I love a french fry.. I mean, who doesn't?! The ladies up front are very nice and personable & make the wait go by nicely.

Went last Sunday. Couldn't wait to try it. I got the whiting fish dinner with Mac & Cheese and string beans. My sister got the same accept with Collard greens. And and order of onion rings. I must say we were pleased. Quite tasty. We sampled the crab salad . It's a good stop by for some good food at a great price. If you buy over $10. There's points to work towards a discount dinner. That's a plus. No one thought of that. A+!!! See you soon

I found this spot ion yelp. I have to admit when we pulled up I was not impressed with the exterior. It is a bit small and could use some sprucing up but boy oh boy the food was yummy. I had fish and shrimp with yams and green beans. The fish was fried just right and so were the shrimp. The portions are also more than enough. The customer service was superb.

Decided to give this place a try while visiting Richmond for the weekend. The reviews of how amazing the food was made me want to try it out. I was torn between the salmon philly, baked Turkey wing or crad the crab plate. I opted to go with the salmon philly with a side of cabbage and my cousin got the crab cake plate with cabbage and yams. The salmon philly and crab cakes were delicious. The salmon & crab cakes were seasoned really well. The cabbage was seasoned well but it was overcooked. It was mushy to the point we couldn't eat it. My cousin said her yams were tasty but the was an overpowering flavor of nutmeg. Overall it wasn't bad and I would try this place again while visiting the area.

This spot has been open 1 year next month. You can actually overlook this place if you are driving too fast. This is a small establishment with POWERFUL SOUL FOOD!! Go to their Facebook page for specials. The food IS AMAZING. The homemade pound cake is one of a kind! The fish, chicken wings, string beans, Mac n cheese, potato salad, pound cake, apple cobbler is the TRUTH! They are very very busy on the weekend so please pack your patience. They cook your food, made to order. I had a hiccup with my order and was very pleased that the owner took care of the problem ASAP. I staff to include Miss Jay was/are friendly. This is a kept secret in Richmond. It's hard to find a good soul food place and this is it!! Highly recommend coming to this place for some good SOUL FOOD!!!

Very great place to eat at! Sort of hole in the wall but the atmosphere is terrific. Service was prompt and friendly. They made me feel like I was at home. Once the food arrive I could tell it was made with care and best of all; it was homemade! I ordered the red kool-aid to aid me in devouring my food. A big variety of appetizers and excellent entrées at a price that you really can't beat. The portions were huge as well. I've never eaten a crab cake as big as the one at fat ducks. I am definitely waddling out of here with satisfaction.

Today my grandparents came down to see my home for the first time. After hearing about this place from a friend who raved, it was a top pick. Ordered a pepsi and coke. Grandma had a giant peice of decadent chocolate cake at the table asap. I ordered the perfectly fried shrimp that my Oma enjoyed throughly as well. The wings were perfectly done.. fall off the bone. Collard greens are too tasty alongside their famous potato salad. Their fries were even bomb! Gpa had the philly cheesesteak with the topping works and was pleased. Macaroni looked amazing, the cabbage smelled great. As for dessert, their banana pudding will always be my favorite. Everyone was so warm and kind and we were even treated to a free taste of a beautifully creamy in texture seafood salad that really popped with hot sauce. But i also put hot sauce on everything. Until we eat again, thank you for lunch!

They're okay . Three stars for service ! They were super pleasant folks and made sure my order was correct . I ordered tomato meat loaf but the meatloaf had gravy on it . No prob, but it was tough and overlooked and my boyfriend told me to give it to the dog. their Mac and cheese LOOKED BOMB BUT when we tasted it we were sadly mistaken: they make their Mac and cheese with sugar. SUGAR. It was sweet which is so gross . Works for spaghetti but come on , not the Mac tho . The ribs were ok. The cake was good . But I was overall disappointed at the amount of money I spent here

Now mind you... Some of the best food comes from lil hole in the walls.... But when you come through the door... They greet you very warmly... I called my order in to go... I had crab cake dinner with cabbage and macaroni and cheese... Daughter had the 3 of wing... Lawd lawd lawd... Very good... I can not write any more because this food right here done stuck to my ribs and I have '' itis".. lol.. sistah have to go nite nite...
