Love love love!!We enjoyed this place so much we ate it two dinners in a row. It's not a super duper clean place inside, but there was plenty of room for my family of 11, which is all we cared about upon arrival! (There are a few outside picnic tables)My absolute favorites were the hot crab dip and the blue crab bisque. The texture and flavor of both of those were.. chefs kiss. (I will say I did not enjoy the blue shell crab cakes, but not enough to take a star off) I also liked that they had a pbj choice for my little!Service was way better than expected based on other reviews I read we would definitely come back!

The shop is local to OBX Corolla, it was about a 10 minute drive from our house rental. If you're lucky, sometimes you can find a coupon online for Fat Crabs. Our first day in OBX, we were too lazy to cook so decided to head out for a quick lunch. ****SKIP TO END FOR SPECIAL TIPS****(Food: 3 out of 5) --Brisket Cheesesteak: 2.5 out of 5 - My fiancé and his brother both ordered their Brisket Cheesesteak, neither of them had the greatest review for this sandwich. The menu reads "served on fresh baked lightly toasted bun" - wonder when the bun was baked.. or toasted.--Fish of the day Sandwich: My brother in law's girlfriend ordered this, I don't remember what the fish of the day was but.. I remember her review being something sort of like "...it's okay" --Soft Shell Crab Special Platter 2.5 out of 5 - I love love love Soft Shell Crab, and I always love going down to Dickies.. Dicks Crabs? (something like that). Unfortunately, it was too far from where we were staying at so I settled to have it here. I was looking forward to eating their soft shell crab as I wait almost all year round to have this fresh fried during the Summer in OBX.Oh it was a let down, the crab was super soggy and oily. It felt like they had been sitting under the heat lamp for awhile, before someone even remembered or realized it was sitting there, waiting to be sent to a table.It was bland with no seasoning, just.. fried and that was that.--Tartar Sauce: we all tried the tartar sauce, why was it just sitting on the table at room temp? I thought this sauce had to be kept refrigerated? Ah well, I wouldn't recommend dipping your food in this.(Food continuation- 4 out of 5) On a good note, I did enjoy their:--BLUE CRAB CHOWDAH (5/5) The soup was hot and the chowder had actually great flavor. It didn't need additional salt, but a hint of black pepper did make this more enjoyable.--HUSHPUPPIES (5/5) I loved loved loved their hush puppies, it was fresh and hot and not too oily. I dipped mine with butter and it honestly was one of the best hush puppies, I have ever tried.--DOZEN BLUE CRAB STEAMED POT (4/5) It was exactly just that, a tray of steamed blue crabs. The crabs weren't light but also not heavy, it had average weight. I'm only giving this a 4 out of 5 because they COVERED it with a vinegar old bay mix and it was EVERYWHERE. They added way too much of it and made some bits extremely salty. I didn't realize it wasn't going to be plain, I would have definitely asked for it to be put on the side instead.--Veggie Set : 1 out of 5 - I ordered this additionally to the blue crabs and it came with corn, potato and sliced onions. The corn that was used was a mushy corn, and had no bite to it. The potato was okay, and the onion was just sliced; it was all seasoned with their vinegar old bay and was overall salty. Not sure why this set costs $6...(Service: 2 out of 5)When we arrived to the store, there was a group checking out- this group wanted to do split checks for each of them.. there was a girl helping them check out and 2 other workers. One guy was prepping the corn and the other guy, who I believe is the manager just kept walking back and forth, he looked at us, smiled and just continued on his day. They had us stand there the entire time while this group was checking out; finally on the last person, the 'manager' said "Hey, how can I help you?" - We said we wanted to dine in for 4, and he said "oh, she'll finish with them and be right with you." ...oh.. okay sure... Once we were finally seated, it took about 10 minutes for anyone to come and greet us, the drink order came out after awhile and the food took a long time as well. After 20 or so minutes of sitting there (after ordering), another server comes over and asks "what can I get for you guys?" ..um well we had already ordered but imagine if we didn't and it took 20 minutes for us to get some service.. Summary : Special Tips :Order delivery and keep the tip to yourself,ask for your seafood pots plain,get the hushpuppies and blue crab chowder.

Long wait , poor service and food . Very disappointing . We still tipped our server 20 percent but the owner after we approached him concerning what had been a one hour wait w no food was rude and not accommodating . We were told the food will be worth the wait . Hmm it wasn't . Bland and poorly prepared .

I'll call this take advantage of tourists restaurant. Look at the "lobster" role. It's actually fake crab. Soup tasted out of can. Clam's excellent. Fish special ok (flounder). Fries limp. Avoid at all cost

Food was excellent! Service was great! Crab dip is OMG GOOD! Party of 11 at 2 tables which was fine. Everyone in the group enjoyed their food.

Absolutely abysmal table and wait management. Told us 30 mins for a table - we checked in at the hour and 90 minute mark, no information. At 105 minutes, we asked again and was told our table was being held up by a group that had paid but won't leave. As we discussed as a family what we should do, they sat a group of 5, lower than us on the waiting list, without explanation. We absolutely understand how hectic this area can be with beach tourists, especially on weekends. But simple communication and orderly wait lists are a must at any establishment.We left without being served. That being said - bartenders were very attentive and pleasant as we waited!

Somebody call the Hague because the food here is a war crime. If you think mayonnaise spicy then this place is right up your alley. Fat Crabs is where flavor goes to die. My wife had the bland Alaskan steam pot and ate it out of sheer spite. When she asked for something to season her food with the server went blank with confusion. I had the BBQ sampler and I have never had food so inedible. Balut is a better culinary experience. Don't know what it is look it up. Gordon Ramsey couldn't fix the food here.They did give me a 10 dollar discount when I told them how bad their food was. Still happy to pay a hundred dollars to get away from that place.

Our first time staying in Corolla Light. We did take out boils and they were amazing! They were busy and the worker still took time to show a Blue Crab to a little girl who asked! Extremely classy!! Will 100% go back again!!

Great barbecue place. The guys were really friendly and helpful and the food was excellent. Some of the best Carolina barbecue I've had!

The food was very good, but a little pricey.And the Amount of time that I had to wait for my table was a little too long.I was about to leave but then I was watching to see if there was a table available and then they sat my group and will waiting for my food I noticed that there were only 2 waiters even though the place was very packed.the restaurant overall wad a nice looking place that looked like a nice seafood place
