Far Eastern Food Store

When Sophia and I shopped at E-Mart, their bean sprouts appeared to have brown spots in each available bag. So we did a search for other Asian food markets and happened to find this one which is tucked away off Warwick Blvd. Would we find any available items to use for cooking on our day off?We were the only customers inside. It's smaller than E-Mart but if you're looking for items to use for Asian foods, you definitely found the right place. Asian music was playing throughout the market and the vibe was so quiet. It's cool when you're only one of two customers with no foot traffic in sight. And we were able to find bean sprouts which were fresh. And to my surprise, they even had Cafe Du Monde coffee up front. Being from Louisiana, one tradition was to head to a Cafe Du Monde spot and chow down on beignets and frozen cafe au lait and sometimes I had hot coffee. I didn't buy any, but it warmed my heart to see it here in Virginia. I know stores carry it nationwide, but maybe I was a bit naive.....ha!! Anyway, we were able to go in and out of the store with our bean sprouts just like that.When in doubt, look for some backup stores. And that's what we did. A small market, but one where you'll find whatever you're looking for. Till next time :)

Korean store with a lot of options! Helpful staff if you need service. If you're ever in the area, definitely stop by!

This is a nice Asian market tucked in the corner of the same shopping plaza as Honey Q (check out my review for that place). Everything is displayed neatly throughout the store. They have an assortment of Asian foods, not just Korean products. They also sell a variety of cooking utensils and bowls/plates, etc. I noticed the prices of some of the fruit was cheaper than their larger competitor, E Mart (I had gone there about an hour prior). The owner mentioned that they have a small VHS collection of Asian movies to rent mainly for their older customers. If I lived near this area of Newport News, I'd be a frequent customer of Far Eastern Food Store.

A little bit off a challenge to find the first time but it was worth it. Good selection for a small store and the man working was helpful and very kind. I will be back soon!

Very impressive selection of Asian foods. Really clean and organised. Locally owned, which is a perk for me. Owner was very friendly and knowledgeable about all the foods, not just one region. Will definitely make this a regular when I am in town!!

All of their products are cheap and the man at the register has very good knowledge about Korean food and their products. If anyone wants to cook some Asian food but don't know how, Far eastern food is right place to go. The store is not too big from outside; when you go inside the store they have largest selections of Asian food.

Ahhhhh, I love this store. The owners and family are super friendly and very helpful. My parents have been shopping here for years!! When I was a kid coming into this store, I would look forward to a rice cake, or some other delicious snack while my parents shopped. They have an assortment of holy goodness and decent prices. Lots or sauces, marinades, rices, noodles, rice flour, snacks, tofu, dumplings, Chinese sausages, gingers,garlic and more. The kim chee is by far the best! I have never had any problems at this store. They are good hardworking people who are constantly working because I've yet to see an empty shelf. New items are constantly up. I like that fact that I can walk in, grab a cart and go down the aisles without knocking something over, prices are marked clearly and get everything I need in a jiffy. Clean, quiet, fully stocked, reasonable prices, fresh kim Chee, fruit,fresh bake breads and snacks,rice cookers, kitchen gadgets and more...:)

I just called this store to find out if they had something that the store I normally go to was out of. A guy answered and told me they were out, but next delivery will be on Tuesday. He was apologetic and very polite. Although I don't visit this store, I give them 5 star for being friendly even over the phone.
