Famous Uncle Al's Hotdogs and Grill

Please take me back to Chicago with that delicious Chicago Dog they have. So this "Mom and Pops' joint is everything of the word. Locally and Black-owned in Norfolk, this lunch counter style gem is nothing short of classics you don't see that much anymore. So, on arrival, you can have a seat, and a hostess or cashier will come out and take your order. The chef will take your order if you sit at the lunch counter. Either way, your food will be cooked to order right when you order so that it will be fresh! The main star, hotdogs, is on the menu, but you can also get burgers. Crinkle fries come with the meal or chips. Now, these hotdogs come in all ways, so review the menu carefully of the options. The ingredients are made fresh all day to ensure you get your food that way. Did I mention they serve breakfast? Yes, they have a breakfast menu as well. Seating at the counter is a treat because there is TV to watch, and you can see the Chef prepare your food. The price is excellent, too; two hotdogs, fires, and a drink were about twelve dollars. This place is GREAT for lunch and breakfast; I will be back. Happy Yelping.

Nestled in downtown Norfolk is this little gem. I walked in and ordered at the front of the building. However, you can sit down and someone will come and take your order as well. There's plenty of things to choose from especially sides. Fountain drinks as well as bottle drinks are available. After ordering I found a small table to wait for my order, there is plenty of seating as the building extends to the back. It didn't take long until the meal came out which was great. I personally didn't like the ratio of bun to weenie. However, the hot sausage was delicious. I would definitely order it again. Great places for the price and would come back to try something new.

I'm definitely impressed with the hotdogs at this place. I didn't like that the chili was cold, but the hotdog is really warm, so that made up for it.Been in search of a good hotdog location, and being at this place has several different locations, this one particularly was good. The gentleman that took our order was pretty knowledgeable about the menu, and helped us make some decisions.I love that the hotdogs were well done and a little crispy, that's just how I like it. We also got fried pickles delicious. The atmosphere was like an older type of vibe, it was a little hot, but we were okay under the fan. You can definitely tell that there are a lot of regulars that come through here.The bathrooms are clean, and the food came out in a pretty good timely manner. Check out one of their locations and see how you like it!!

Worked out for an hour...just so I could get my fat butt up in here! Lol, actually that's not what really happened...What had happened was, ummm...So I really did work out for an hour. But then I remembered I had to go to the pet store for my poor doggie! Then, out of the corner of my tired eyes, flashed a sign of life sustaining greediness. Because who doesn't love a good dog?!It's not super busy, but busy enough. I'm just excited for a hot dog. The counter is wide open and clean, so I have plenty of room to get nice and pig out! Oink! The cook is friendly and cute, so that's another bonus! It's good in the hood! Can't come back too soon, otherwise my pants will be back up in the double digits. Gotta love this little hot dog joint!

So let me start by saying I had a bad experience at another hot dog restaurant but my husband was like let's go try this place I'm like okay yeah. So when you first walk in this establishment you're automatically greeted which I love the service was a automatic yes for me lol you feel welcomed ! I RECOMMEND COMING TO THIS ONE !!!! You will not be disappointed! They are kid friendly !! Definitely recommend getting the fried pickles !! The prices are very reasonable!! But overall everything was amazing !! We will definitely be back!!

Simple , quick & never misses . Food is always hot & fresh . Casual setting & easy pick me up when craving a chili cheese dog ! Love them . Sweet potato fries are a must.

I visited my yelp Elite sister in Norfolk, VA and she suggested this joint for some snap dogs. I couldn't decide so we ordered a few and shared a bite each. We got the San Antonio, New Jersey Ripper, Chicago, Reuben & chili cheese fries.The snap in the dogs are nice. The buns are so soft...maybe too soft because they fell apart when I picked up my dogs to eat them. The flavor was good though.

The beef hot dog was really good. The onion rings great! Service was great!Would go back to try other things.

Popped in for lunch today and the family that runs this place made me feel welcome from the start everything tasted fresh and was made to order I found my new lunch spot for the rest of my trip! Wish I could pack this restaurant up and take it home with me!
