Famous Uncle Al's Hotdogs & Fries

Had read about this place and decided to try. Nice setting with tables and bar seating. Staff is terrific. The hotdogs are good. I prefer mine simple with mustard and relish. There are quite a few 'sides' to choose but I go for the fries, the sweet potato fries are fair. Prices are reasonable. Totally recommend.

Tried their Buffalo chicken wrap and fries. It was delicious, reasonably priced and the staff was friendly!

Nostalgic pictures on the walls. This place feels like the 70's. Yes, Some of us were alive in the 70's. LOL. Great great service. The staff at this location are sooooo nice. Plenty of parking. My best friend also grew up here and has probably been coming since they were first opened. She calls this comfort foodI'm not a big fan of their burgers just because they are plain. But my best friend LOVES the burgers. The dogs are like you would expect. Long with a snap and good. They bring them immediately to your table when your food is HOT. I love this. You can also ask for items on the side. I get my dogs with chili, mustard and sauerkraut on the side. YUMM. They have some really good sides. My friend get the house cut fries. Not my favorite but she loves them and she says that's why she loves coming here because we can all get what we like. I like the crinkle fries. YUMM. We both agree that the cheddar tots are the best.I would give them a 3 1/2 to a 4 for food.5 for service.4 for decor. It looks dingy to me but some people like that nostalgic look.5 for parking and easy in and out.So over all a solid 4

Famous Uncle Al's was semi-busy when we walked in and a little loud at first because of a particular pack of kids, but they left soon after we arrived.We both got a hotdog, mine plain ketchup (yes, I will be 5 forever) and my friends with ketchup, mustard, onion and relish. All of those toppings were free, though they have a couple like cheese, that have a small upcharge. Our hot dogs were yummy, I'm picky and it had a pleasant bite but not too much. I do not like 'snappy' hot dogs. I will warn you that food is run as it comes up, so you'll probably get your hotdogs first and then sides. This does mean they will very very hot and fresh. We got a potato knish (think mashed potato in a small pillow form, battered and fried) along with chili cheese fries, sweet potato fries and cheese munchers. The chili cheese fries were soggy from the chili, but they give you a very generous portion of chili, fries and cheese (seriously even splitting these sides we couldn't finish it all). The chili is meat based and we both agreed was ok. The potato knish was served with stone ground mustard on the side, I don't like mustard and even my friend who likes it didn't think it went well (for his tastes). I tried pieces of mine with ketchup, plain and with some of the chili cheese from the fries. I thought that chili cheese was the best option. The sweet potato fries were nicely crispy and tasted good, though they don't quite beat out the ones at Rick's Cafe, they put a seasoning on theirs that is out of this world and ruins me for others - though these definitely win on the crispy front (which I also very much like in my fries.)The cheese munchers were small semi-crispy, but mostly fluffy potato rounds (chunky ones) stuffed with a small amount of cheese. Neither of us was a huge fan. Once the place settled down, it became a very quiet, pleasant place to have lunch. Definitely family friendly with its Ms. Pacman, quarter pusher and capsule/gumball machines. The staff did check in on us several times and were quick to get us refills. Overall the service bumps the place to a four from a three. Beware if you sit in the section without carpet, the kids wandering back will scuff their feet and cause ear-twitching, nails on a chalkboard kind of scuffing on the tile.

Our server was very nice and provided us very quick service. The food was delivered right away, and our drinks were never empty. We do not eat hotdogs very often, but enjoy their hotdogs as our favorite. We tried the bratwurst with sauerkraut, which was delicious. As well as the sweet potato waffle fries which were amazing.we will be back when we can! Thank you for such great service and delicious food.

Best burger on Va Beach Blvd loaded burger with grilled onions. Restraunt is always clean everyone that works there are very friendly.

Friendly little neighborhood hot dog joint with other options too. Can't beat natural casing hot dogs.

Food always great and the customer service is always amazing. They treat you like family.
