The staff very friendly. The rooms need new bureaus and tables, as they are very nicked up. Walls need to be painted and 1970's carpet throughout-replaced. The breakfast was average yet, with only one toaster ...... you needed to wait a long time for your turn! Recommend another toaster, or two!!!!

This is a satisfying hotel for a decent price. The rooms were clean and decent sized. The key was a little tricky to get in, but need to master a key insert, 2 second pause, then touch the door handle. There are timed uses of the pool and gym, so it's a great way to distance and still enjoy the amenities. The staff leads you down to each to let you in. The pool is large, but the hot tub wasn't currently in use. The gym had weights, a few treadmills, a bike, and an elliptical - small but efficient. Only issue was the heat was on to the max, so we had to keep going to the hall to get some cool air.The staff was friendly. The morning to go breakfasts had a few options (yogurt, hard boiled egg, breakfast sandwiches, pastries, milk) which is better than other grab and go options I've seen (or eliminating breakfast options altogether.) Overall, the stay was well worth it.

Really surprised by the negative reviews! I booked a last minute Queen room for a little under $90. Front desk staff was super friendly! I loved the mod/1960's decor of the lobby. They also sell candy, chips, nuts, instant ramen, frozen meals, soda, Gatorade, batteries, medication, sanitary pads, and beer. The room was nice and clean with a comfortable bed. Microwave, mini fridge, ice bucket, and outlets conveniently placed at the base of all the night stand lamps. Large bathroom with big vanity, and tons of extra towels.

I enjoyed my stay here. The rooms were clean, coffee was great, breakfast was good with a variety of options from cereal, hot food, to oatmeal and fruit. Most staff here were friendly and said hi. Their room prices are decent and the hotel is in a great location close to Busch gardens and Colonial Williamsburg. Not sure why there are negative reviews. Will return next time I am around the area!

We stayed here a couple nights and had a solid experience. The staff were amazingly friendly - I can't say enough about that. Our room was nice and clean. The family loved the pool. The fitness room is small, but I made due - just a note to the hotel that they could benefit from getting a better weight bench and some more dumbbells. The complimentary breakfast was really good. All in all, we had a great time and would definitely stay here again.

We arrived in the shoulder season which is before the hordes show up at Colonial Williamsburg and at a time not all the exhibits are open are up and running yet. It made the hotel rates reasonable and the battle to claim a room a winning proposition. The Fairfield Inn is conveniently located on Richmond Road and within two miles of the Visitor Center ticket and parking lot off Colonial Parkway - which is not easy to locate unless you fly a drone to spot it first. It's also not an easy walk. This motel is across the street from Whitney's Peanut Factory (really just a storefront) and Chipotle Grill. There is also a bakery attached to pizzeria and IHOP adjacent to them. The location is central to a bounty of other motels as well as more restaurants and pancake houses than there is buttermilk. Thee Premium outlets are about 2 miles north on Richmond Rd. What I'm saying is Richmond Road is the place to be.The Motel is wheelchair accessible, except I'm still puzzled why there are wheelchair accessible rooms on the upper level? If a fire breaks out or elevators stop for any other reason they'll need a few strong staff to get the handicap to end of the hall where the stairs are and carry them down. I'm sure there may be handicap rooms on the first floor as well but I didn't look. The breakfast room is ADA compliant as well. When you pull up and enter into the lobby there are two double electronic sliding doors. Between the two are brochures. I was thinking how annoying it must be for guests in lobby or workers at reception for someone standing in front of display deciding which pamphlets to take because the doors just keep opening and closing as you stand there. The seating area is to left as you enter with two-faced fireplace (gas), convenience snack shop on the right, more seating on another side of the fireplace.. reception is on right opposite of the seating area (narrow). Typically we only saw only one person working counter so it could get backed up. It saves time at check out by not requiring you to stop by the counter (just call them to let them know you're leaving). We asked what time check out was, and I must be hallucinating but they replied there wasn't any??? huh? Works for me. I'm guessing sometime in the morning is fine with them lolThe staff from counter to service staff in the kitchen are uber nice and all greet you when they see you. It's nice to know the people you have working somewhere know you exist and happy enough to greet you with a 'good morning' or 'hello'.Two elevators past reception gets you to every upper room, the staircase is at end of the hall. Parking for handicap is to the right of the entrance (three handicap spaces). The kitchen, pool and exercise room are all down the end of the hall after making a left beyond reception. There are also restrooms near this turn. There is also another entrance (room key needed) at end of the hall to the right of reception where the handicap spaces are, but I there were steps there so if you have a wheelchair you'll have to enter through the main entrance to left.Hot breakfast included scrambled eggs, cheese omelet, turkey sausage round, and pork sausage round. Didn't like the sausage, and the cheese omelet was a bit tough. Waffles were best hot item. There were two choices of Chobani yogurt and one other diet brand, Mellon and cantaloupe, two waffle makers, oatmeal, bananas, clementines, one type of bagel (and bagel cutter), various bread, and cereal (three types).Utensils were plastic, plates were hard recycled cardboard. There was also agave syrup (by cereal and bread), chocolate chips, strawberry compote, powdered sugar, whip cream, and fake maple syrup.Juice machine dispenses Orange, Apple, Cranberry, and Water. This puzzles me.. there were four (?) coffee urns. Two were labeled 'hot water' and two 'bold coffee' - I must have missed the decaf and regular (I don't drink coffee anyway). There are two TV's in eating areas (and a remote if you can't stand watching what's on), and a gas fireplace beneath on TV.The three women working there are very friendly and accommodating. If something is out or you have a special diet just ask for it.There is a pay laundry room inside the motel. There is a parking lot shared with a pizzeria and what appears to be an apartment complex. We had a regular suite. You get a bedroom with tv, another separate small living room adjacent to the sleeping area, Closet is in the sleeping area with end tables, armoire for tv and some sort of cushioned bench seat. The hair drier and ironing board are inside closet along with extra pillow (there is also an extra pillow and blanket inside the drawer of the tv armoire. The living room area has a work desk, coffee table, sofa, bookended by the desk and an end table on the other side. The room had its own tv on wall opposite sofa (seemed far and small, may need binoculars). Mini fridge, microwave & coffee maker near the door.Enjoy!Carson

The mirror was mounted crooked, the floor lamp was crooked, the tv stand was on its last breath and was crooked (which was all I could see every time I looked at the TV. There was a digital thermostat on the wall that controlled nothing, I had to figure out the analog controls on the ac unit, which I kept having to fiddle with all night (and the widow shades blocked the vent, which is simply ridiculous, anyone who has even serviced the room could have seen that). The refrigerator door was crooked (yes, a theme at the Fairfield Williamsburg) and had to be closed "just right" or nothing stayed cold, just "less than warm."The bathroom fixtures look like they were in place for the 400th anniversary of Jamestown in 2007 and haven't been updated since then.On a positive note, the bed was good. We've got two more days here, great.

I will begin by saying we always stay at Marriotts and are always happy. This Fairfield, however, was nothing comparable. The room we were issued looked like it had not been renovated since 1982. It was dreadful and then I smelled an intense burning which alarmed me. I found that our room was adjacent to an electrical closet and something was burning inside! OMG. I immediately requested a new room with the front desk, but was told there were no vacancies...so we were issued a full refund. We still needed a room so I called Marriott for help....here is how the next month went...7/26- We requested another room at the Fairfield, Williamsburg VA due to a burning smell in the electrical room next to ours. Another room was not available so we were given a full refund for our stay. 7/26-We called Marriot Customer Service immediately for help with another room in Williamsburg, Virginia. The representative found us a room at the Williamsburg Lodge and as a courtesy issued a $50 refund to match the rate we were originally paying at the Fairfield.8/1 - I called Marriot when the refund was not issued and was told that this case was not "processed correctly" and it would be "reopened" and would just take another 7-10 days to post to my credit card.8/12- I called Marriot again when the refund was still not issued and was told again that our case was not processed correctly, but to please check back in another 7-10 days if I do not see the credit. 8/22 - I called and spoke to "Hector" when the credit was still not posted and he told me all he could see was that it was "in progress" but that he was instructed to issue my rewards account with 2000 points for the inconvenience. 8/23 - I called again and was told the credit was taking the full 10 days and that it would absolutely be issued on Monday 8/26. I was also instructed to call on Monday if I did not see it. 8/26 - When I did not see the credit on Monday 8/26, I called again and was told it should be there and they are unsure why it's still in progress. 8/27 - Today after spending time on hold twice, I was placed on the phone with supervisor "Charlie" who proceeded to tell me she was looking into things but that ultimately the hotel needed to issue the refund, and they have not. This completely contradicts what I was told in previous phone conversations indicating the refund was processing. I was put on hold one more time...and the phone call disconnected. My call was not returned, despite the fact that Marriott has my contact information. It's apparent I am getting a run around from Marriott, which I find disturbing. I will need to take further action.

I unfortunately need to update my review. While the staff were some of the most friendly I have ever met, it didn't at all make up for the extreme lack of cleanliness in the room. I didn't report it because we were tired and when I requested even non-feather pillows, it took the staff over an hour despite them immediately saying "I'll have him bring them now" when the request was made. This was not just nicked up and old, it was not cleaned outside of changing the sheets and putting fresh towels... Additionally, we stayed for 1 night (Saturday) yet when I got the emailed receipt, it showed 2 nights (Sunday and Monday) despite me checking out.

Come on Marriott we expect better! why do your bed sheets not stay on the corner of the beds, maybe invest in deep pocket sheets? and why do I feel the need to wear my flip flops in your shower stall? cracked tiles and just an overall dirty feel, very disappointed and will think twice now when option to stay at a Marriott. Paid wayyy too much for this room, feeling robbed. Please do better!
