Evans Farms

We went here to pick strawberries as the farms in punto were closed due to being over picked. I'm extremely happy we went to this farm instead. We left with two baskets full of strawberries and a little of everything else. They make their own honey and grow their own veggies. This will the only farm I will pick strawberries from moving forward.

If you are looking for the best strawberry picking experience in Hampton Roads during a pandemic - this is it! Evan's Farms is legit -- a mom and pop operation with a small roadside stand. They sell all kinds of fresh produce as well as some meat and eggs. The strawberry fields are PACKED with berries -- beautiful and delicious. Plus, on both occasions we visited we were basically the only people there so it was easy to socially distance. This place doesn't have the bells and whistles of the larger farms with activities for kids and what not, but it's perfect if you're not looking for a crowded environment. Plus, it's reasonably priced. The strawberries are $2 per pound and a bucket holds about 5 pounds when completely full. They are CASH ONLY so do make sure you have some on hand when you go. I highly recommend Evan's Farms!

I was excited to drive 40 minutes to Suffolk to get some of the delicious watermelon that I heard about. So, I bought five big watermelon ($50). I was very disappointed that the watermelon were not very sweet even though, they had the perfect consistency. I called and spoke to someone at the Evans Farm and explained to him that I just purchased the watermelon from them and both of the watermelon that I cut were not sweet. I was told that there is nothing that the person could do about it. I think that this is very bad customer service. I will not be going back to this place and I will let everyone who I recommended to go know, not to waste their time. Very disappointed. However, the lady working there was very nice and friendly.
