Escape Newport News

This is by far the best escape room ever. We live outside the Orlando area and have done numerous escape rooms in our area and on vacations in other areas as well and this one blows them all away. Very intense and keeps you on edge throughout the entire experience. Well worth the money. Extremely intense experience. Definitely recommended. 5 star plus.

My boyfriend and I have done over 20 rooms and sadly this was our worst.We booked a room at 7pm, and drove from Richmond to do the room for my boyfriends birthday. I called ahead as I saw no one had booked the time before us (5pm). I asked if we could possibly come at 6pm since the booking before us was open. The person on the phone wouldn't even let me get out the fact that we were traveling over an hour to do this room. Very short..:"You can come at 5 or 7, that's it". Okay fine, my boyfriend is a game master so we figured there may not be a game master available at 6pm.When we arrived the guy at the desk barely said two words to us. Put a tablet in our hands with no direction. Again it was a good thing we had done so many rooms so we knew to complete the waiver.After that the only communication we got "first door on the left, good luck". Okay again....direction? Locks? Did you ask us if we had done a room before?Once in the room we had to wait over 2 minutes to get clues that were sub-par, and the game master failed to even mention that one lock was not necessary since we were not playing in competition mode.When we "escaped" the room we didn't even realize we had escaped. No enthusiasm from the game master what so ever.Sadly this is our first and last experience. Disappointing since we traveled over an hour for this one.

This place is a little gem! They offer virtual escape rooms as well as physical escape rooms. This was our first one ever at any location so we had no clue what to expect or what was the norm in relation to other businesses. Noah helped us out and was pleasant and patient on the phone and was just the same in person when we arrived. We decided to do the Battleship room and aside from being confused as heck on where to start, and in my own opinion frustrating since I'm usually good at solving things, but we ended up solving everything with two hints and down to the wire in time. It was challenging and fun, would definitely go again!

Love this place! The owners are so creative on their rooms. We have so much fun every time we go! If you've never done this, it's best with 4 people from a variety of backgrounds. The last time we had an eclectic crew, we were able to solve it in time. It was cool to see how we all approached the problems differently. You won't be disappointed!

(Full disclosure: a friend of ours is friends with the owner, so we were invited to check out the Battleship room for free and before it is open to the public)Had a really nice time doing the Battleship room! We brought a group of 8 with us and fit comfortably in the space. I've done about a dozen or so escape rooms, and I thought the puzzles here were clear, well thought out, and fun. Everyone had something to work on and could feel involved. And there were some technical aspects to the room that were really fun and seamless; we were surprised several times by clues that popped out of unexpected places. And without giving much away, the story line of the room was different from other rooms I have done, in a really fun and interesting way.Two of the puzzles were not working when we did the room. One of them, the staff knew about it beforehand and just told us the answer when we completed the puzzle, and that was fine. One of them was not known beforehand and threw our victory into question a bit. But the room isn't open yet, so I believe the kinks will be worked out by the time it opens publicly. And it really was a fun little room.... The owner is very passionate about puzzles and escape rooms.

ESCAPE Newport News is a treat. We had a blast doing their Fugitive room, but more recent was our experience participating in their Game Night - hosted monthly. The Fugitive Room was innovative and fun. It was challenging and the atmosphere was immersive. Even their employees involved themselves in the charade by acting as cops helping you catch the bad guy. What I love about this escape company is the unique approach to private rooms. When you book a room, you're booking it for your party only, no matter the amount of people in your group. Great so you don't have to play head to head with strangers.Their game night was a blast too. Free, included snacks and water, and was a bunch of board games set up around their office space. A great way for them to network, get a community of customers involved, and we got to play a bunch of different games and meet some new faces. Fabulous way to spend an evening.

This place is a fun and fantastic! This made for a great date night. My amazing girlfriend and I became substandard FBI cryptologists for the night. We were welcomed by a very friendly front desk analyst. Then we were briefed by a helpful, albeit snarky special agent who lacked confidence in our abilities. It was motivating, but she was right in the end. Being our first escape room, we didn't know what to expect. Upon entering the room, we were immediately immersed in the scenario. The puzzles were challenging, but not impossible. It was very fun and really gets your brain thinking. Even though we didn't solve it in time, we were close and it was great to see how all of the puzzles fit together in the end. It was very well masterminded and had a good flow. I think the only improvement would be air conditioning or fans. I couldn't imagine more than 2 people in that hot, little room. I think some of the decor may block vents or something. Despite that, we will definitely be back for the Lottery room... And whatever room is in the works.

So much fun! We've never done an escape room before and weren't sure what to expect. We did the "Clue" room and it did not let us down!! Some complex and some easier puzzles to work through, but fun for all ages. The staff (Noah) was kind and helpful. We will be returning again!!

I came here and did the lottery room with some friends - it was fun, challenging, and a different way to spend a Saturday night! If you haven't been to an escape room yet, you've gotta check it out - they are very cool

Full disclosure, I know the owner of this place, and I got to test out some of the puzzles and help him set the place up prior to opening. From the moment you walk in, you're immersed in a fun, engaging environment of puzzles. A trip here with your friends or family would be a great bonding experience and is also stimulating to the mind! Cooperate with your buds to solve puzzles and achieve a common goal. This would also be a great idea for a team-building exercise with your co-workers.This location has gone beyond the basic escape room mantra of "You're stuck in a room. Find a way out." This is exemplified in my favorite puzzle, which is a campsite-themed room in which you're tasked with catching a fugitive. Decor, sound effects, and dim lighting all give you the immersive feeling that you are on a night raid on a fugitive's campsite. Hurry up and reveal his identity before he skips town!The place is newly remodeled, so everything is nice and brand new. The owner is a really friendly and enthusiastic guy, and he's in love with the idea of running puzzles for a job. He'll do his very best to make sure your experience is positive.
