View from the pier of the Jordan bridge. No fish today.
The only thing we caught was the cold shoulder from the fish

Great park and fishing pier at the base of the South Norfolk Jordan Bridge. Two sets of public restrooms a dog park fishing pier and boat launch. Also have a snack and bait shop.Really enjoy running and walking the bridge. Nice pedestrian walkway goes all the way across. Great views!Sunrise always nice from the top of the bridge.Worth noting the fishing pier is free no need for license

I found Elizabeth River Park during my run today. I was quite excited to find a nice little refuge in a quiet neighborhood in the Virginia Beach area. Parts of the trails are paved, but the real gems are the dirt areas where it's quiet and peaceful. I saw quite a bit of wildlife during my brief run through some of the trails. There are numbered sign posts throughout the trails that explain what you are seeing. I didn't stop to look at them as I was more focused on my run. There are a few lakes on the side of the river which are beautiful. You can access the river with your boat if you'd like. I didn't get to explore the whole park but I'd like to next time I'm nearby.

Elizabeth River Park (ERP) is a 12.6-acre park and located along Scuffletown Creek, a tributary to Southern Branch of Elizabeth River. The city spent $4.3M renovating, and the project finished May of 2015. The big pull of ERP is boaters because it is one of only four locations in the city for public water access, and the hottest fishing spot around (or so I've heard). Here is the long list of amenities: *Dog park*Playground*Restrooms (two separate buildings--one attached to the Snack Shack and the other next to the playground)*Boat launch (including kayaks/canoes but no ADA accessible Kayak launch) is open 24 hours*1/2 mile+ paved trail throughout the park*Fitness area with exercise equipment*Fishing/Crabbing Pier*42 Picnic Tables and 34 Trash cans*2 Shelters with grills*5 Pavilions and 5 benches throughout the park*The Snack Shack and Ship Shop is 2,500 sq ft and has a 2,000 sq ft attached pavilion with seating. They sell bait and boat supplies in addition to snacks, drinks--and ice!*Large gazebo with stage with a waterfront view*79 Paved parking spaces including 8 handicapped, and 10 pull-through boat and trailer spacesERP is a wonderful place for those who enjoy boating or fishing; I was excited to see that I could kayak here. The Snack Shack/Ship Shop is definitely unique compared to any other park I've been to. The view of that "engineering marvel"--Jordan Bridge--is a sight to behold while you walk around the park (http://www.cityofchesapeake.net/government/City-Departments/Departments/parks-recreation-tourism/parks/elizabethriverpark.htm). It's not a place to go hiking, but it is a quaint little park next to the water, and a sweet spot for a picnic.

Wow this place has gone downhill...waaaaay down hill since the new bridge was built. Don't get me wrong I love the new bridge, but this park is now a mere shell of what it once was. You used to be able to fish and crab off of the piers but now there are signs telling you that you cant do either. The grounds needed to be mowed (but I get that there are budget constraints)But worst of all if you didn't know the park already existed you would have no hopes of finding it because there are no signs on Poindexter St. telling you how to get there.:-( Much sadness.

It's super small, there's a bunch of ant piles and spear grass and stickers. It has nice views but it was very underwhelming.

The city did an outstanding job with this park! It's clean, wide open, new bathrooms, large picnic area, new play area, boat landing, and a really nice pier! The view of the South Norfolk Jordan Bridge adds a lovely, scenic touch! Such a beautiful location!

Nice view of the bridge up ahead but the park is not so nice for kids. There's lots of trash all over the ground that flies off the bridge. Terrible spot and location for a park. You'll be lucky if you see anybody else there walking the grounds. There is also police that patrol the area so I'm not sure what that says about the park.
