It's been some time that I have visited what used to be a little shop of clothing, jewelry, accessories for women. Now it's the home of Eleanor's Norfolk. Store still has quite a selection , but now of self-professed "radical" things - from books to soaps to beverages. I like it when there are plenty of things that peak your interest and there's plenty of space for you to walk around and explore. Didn't quite understand the "radical" theme or the connection of that word to the merchandise; except for when the store signage explicitly indicates "feminist". Anyway....

Didn't realize this place was here until a few weeks ago! Took myself on a walk hoping to grab a glass of wine and buy a book. Eleanor's has an excellent selection of bottles to purchase, but tastings are only at selected times (I was a bit bummed - I was under the impression they'd be available whenever they were open! Though I guess in retrospect, I can see there being issues with wandering around a bookshop with a glass of wine in hand...) I definitely hope there is a regular weekly tasting at the shop, perhaps every Saturday or so once they're open longer. The shop is clean and very open, and even has a sweet reading book for kiddos. There's some great titles in the shop too, though I was hoping for more shelves of books as I like my bookstores more "stuffed" like Flourish and Blotts. Very nice space for a tasting though! I also appreciate the reasonable prices, and I got a book that's been on my TBR list and was also tempted to buy a bottle of wine that had lots of crazy witches on it. I only refrained because I had to walk over a mile home (and I was struggling to choose just one anyways), but I may come back for the witchy wine.In any case, I'm excited about this space! I would love for more neighborhood bookstores pop up around Ghent. It feels like a small piece of Ghent was lost when Naro Video closed, and this feels like that vibe is coming back. I'm keeping an eye out for their next wine tasting, as I definitely plan to come!
