El Ranchero Mexican Grill And Bar

The restaurant is located in a shopping mall in little Franklin, VA. We were told it is the best Mexican restaurant in Virginia. We are visiting from Tx and feel that Mexican restaurants in Tx are the best.The ambiance was very nice, clean, tables were laid out in an orderly fashion with room to walk and move around. The service was quick and consistent. I was most impressed with the waitstaff. They were on the ball, attentive and didn't skip a beat with service, refills or napkins. The food was fresh and good tasting. Different from the Mexican food and flavors of Texas, but pretty good for VA. We got the fajitas and taco platter. The meat was paned fried (Tx grills) with all the fixings. The tortillas were really good and fresh, beans were a bit bland for my taste, the tortilla chips were thick and not to my liking but the salsa was ok. The white sauce is not good at all. They told me is was a sauce made from milk , sugar and flour and served with chips- not sure. I have never seen this before in Tx, so idk. I will say that their Tx margaritas were the bomb! Very very good. A 21oz margarita for 7.99 happy hour! Excellent! They are strong too! Totally recommend the Tx margaritas

One of my favorite places to eat, I love everything about it, food is great and long with the service, we always get fast and friendly service and the ambiance is amazing too

Just 'okay' food.Service was great...friendly, fast.Mostly stopped here bc of the 4 star rating. Wouldn't recommend that choice. But it would be fine if the only Mexican food around.

Delicioso!! Seriously the nicest amigos. The best Mexican food along the 58 corridor between Suffolk and Emporia, in all of Tidewater and Hampton Roads. The food is served really fast and smoking hot, even when they are scrambling busy, the wait staff is always happy to see you! The food portions are filling enough to feed even the hungriest teenaged boy!! Recommend this family owned business even if it's not Taco Tuesday. Their signature homemade sangria is the very best around! Buen Provecho, from The Foodie & The Chicken Nugget.

So, I can see it's due time for a update on my 5Star Reviews?! I am so sorry for the delay! But what I can add is you will get friendliness to no end here, amazing food at a great price, guaranteed leftovers for another nibble later on ;). And well, just overall amazing experience each and every time I come here (which is way too much). Oh how I love my El Ranchero though!!!!

We are new in town, we decided to try this place. I'm going to get to the point. I ordered a water with ice. Looked at my ice I had a baby dead roach in the ice. I didn't make a scene, I went up to the bar area where my waiter was but another worker came over asked was what wrong I showed him the ice, he grabbed the tissue out my hand real quick, closed it up and said sorry.I should have left due to that but I didn't. Our food came, the rice and beans was HORRIBLE!! All 3 of us left the rice and beans.After that I went over to our waiter so he can explain a charger that was on the bill and as I was standing there talking to him, a roach is just walking on the floor like nothing. I told him LOOK that's disgusting, he said oh and just stepped on it!!!I don't know how restaurants are ran around here but where I am from places get shut down for this!!!

Would do 0 stars if possible. The staff at this location are some of the most disrespectful people I have ever interacted with. They think they are smart, speaking in spanish while talking about you right in front of your face, but I know exactly what they are saying. If you want to be insulted for how you physically look, then this is the perfect place for dinner! Other than that, make sure to avoid this place.

Love eating at this restaurant in Franklin. Prompt service, good food, good atmosphere and great prices. Great

Overcharged... 2 fish taco dinners @$10.50 each and 1 tea @1.99 Charged me $40.09 Should have been $26.96 with the 15% tip I would have left and then language barrier all of the sudden. I just walked out. never again
