Called ahead to order a couple of tacos and a tamale. They were ready when we arrived, we ate them on the picnic table, and kept on going. It was a good quick stop, not terribly expensive, and the salsa was very good.

Great food made fresh. What more can you ask for. I have had a lot of Mexican food, and this place is good enough for me to leave a review. This is basically a small grocery store. You can order hot food for take out at the counter. Nothing fancy, but it is all made fresh. Spices and seasonings were perfect. Food came with a side of hot sauce that was HOT. The beans on the side were perfect, no canned frijoles here! I will be honest, the place is a little worn and it might be a little intimidating for folks used to a more polished facility. The gentleman at the counter was nice, and very patient with our rambling incoherent order. If you are in the area, skip the soulless fast food, and support this small business. He deserves the opportunity to win your take-out business. Happy eating!!

A random find on my way home from the Eastern Shore but glad I stumbled across it!It's a small market/corner store that sells a lot of Hispanic goods. At the counter, you can order food (which is what I came for)! They make it fresh to order. I had an al pastor taco and a tamale. Along with a bottle of water, my total was around $3.75. Can't beat it! Everything tasted great; I ate in my car before continuing on my way.I used to live in LA and was used to super authentic Mexican food. Hard to find in the Hampton Roads/Eastern Shore area. That being said, this was one of the better places that I've tried; tasted like authentic street fare. The taco even had radishes, which was an authentic touch you just don't see around here; made me super happy. Def will stop again if passing through the area.

A gem of a find on our way down to camping in Virginia! We pulled over to a small little shop to grab some Mexican food with the family, and glad we did! It's a small store in what looks like an old church, easy to miss. You can order at the counter and they cook it fresh to order: hot, fresh and delicious! I got a steak burrito and it was so good, with crispy veggies and spices inside. We ate outside at the picnic tables under the covered awning. And grabbed a couple drinks from the coolers inside. If you want an authentic experience and taste - stop here!

Oh I love this little Mexican store. They have amazing tortas and some of the best gorditas I've ever had. The house salsa is nice and spicy just how I like it. The prices are very reasonable and I love to stop in every-time I headed that way for work. If you can stop in to this little hole in the wall. The owners are very friendly and speak good English. The bread on the torta was toasted just nice and everything tasted fresh. I will definitely be back!! I love Mexican food and this place will not let you down. Oh yea and while your there get some horchata!!

Just stopped in on a road trip to VA Beach. You walk into a Mexico market which has a bunch of food. We ordered 6 tacos and some rice and it was $14.50. They were very good. We had the Pollo, Al Pastor, Asada and a Lengua. All very good. It's worth stopping in. We will be back

--- Short Synopsis --- Wow! This is a hole in the wall Mexican store that sells simple, delicious, authentic Mexican food!! --- Detailed Review --- I was definitely not expecting to come across an authentic Mexican place in this area. Thanks to yelp; I was able to find it. For parking, they have a parking lot next to the red building that houses El Cucero Tienda Y Taqueria. I got five tacos (steak, carne, pollo (chicken), barbacoa, alpastor), and a carne asada burrito. The tacos are the smaller kind being only $1.50. Good value. The burrito is also not too large. There is a $10 credit card minimum (currently). While waiting for my food, a few patrons came in and they all spoke fluent Spanish with the employees, who also responded in fluent Spanish. This is a good sign of authenticity. I enjoyed all the items I got! They all tasted great, simple, and authentic. I enjoyed the lime and salsa verde they provided with my order as well. My favorite item is probably the barbacoa taco! The meat was juicy, and delicious! I will definitely get this meat again when I come back. The store portion of the establishment looks a little run down and barren, but don't let that deter you from trying their food. I also walked around the store and they sold a variety of drinks, produce, pastries, Mexican goods, and other items.Growing up in San Diego and going to college in the SoCal area, I have had my fair share of Mexican food and this is definitely one of the better places I have had. It might not be the nicest looking place, but the food is delicious and that is what really matters.I recommend coming here for Mexican food if you are passing by or are just nearby in general!!

Authentic Mexican food, great prices but no beans!!!We decided to check this place out based on the other reviews. We too are from Southern CA and know what good Mexican food should taste like. We both got the tacos. We tried chicken, steak, el Pastor and the asada. All were excellent and served like street tacos with just meat, onion and cilantro. The one star short of five is for two reasons: no beans available and the meat could use a bit more spices. If you serve Mexican food, beans should be available!

I love Mexican food and avoid chain restaurants. I was excited to check this place out when I read the reviews online, My husband and I were traveling through the area and decided to stop. At first glance my husband just wanted to keep on driving. Myself I am always open for an adventure and have found some of the best Mexican food in other hole in the wall places like this. There is no indoor seating, there is a small outdoor eating area or takeout only. You wouldn't know they served food from driving by or upon entering the facility. Inside is a store where they sell many Mexican foods, beverages and produce. The inside was not very clean and a bit run down, the outside eating area was littered with cigarette butts and soda cap lids, no trash receptacle other than a thin garbage bag tied to a post that was over flowing. On a good note, the cashier was very pleasant. Our food came out timely , I was disappointed with the food, very bland, the rice was chopped up and my carnitas dry. My husband only ate 1/2 of his Burrito. Wish the food was better and the place was cleaner as we travel down that way often....

Stopped in to see what everyone has been posting about. Tried the beans, rice and taco combo. This little market/taco pallor is still everything that's been said about it over the years. I live nearby and feel guilty if I don't stop by every time I pass. Nice to know that I'm not alone with my Compulsion. This little gem proves that you can not judge a book by its cover. I once toured Copper Canyon, Mexico for 10 days a few years back. We ate the same authentic food there. Mexico right here on the Eastern Shore.
