El Azteca Restaurant

Upon entry we noticed the lighting was dimmed and somewhat dark. There was no wait as we were seated immediately. Menus and water were served, and our waitress was kind. The hubs ordered a beef enchilada and taco entree. I'm a sucker for fajitas so that's usually my go to order. The food was quick not much of a wait from when our orders were taken.Presentation wise it wasn't winning any awards. This was a first where both entrees did not include rice. It only included beans and some lettuce. The taco shell was stale and the beef enchilada was standard. As for my fajitas, pictures can be deceiving. The lunch portion is very small so keep that in mind. It was mixed with steak and chicken, and placed on a silver platter instead of a cast iron skillet. The disappointing part was the steak was tough, and hard to chew with some fatty parts. Overall it was okay.

El Azteca is my favorite Mexican Restaurant in the peninsula! The food is always fresh and fast I can get in and out for lunch on time. I had the lunch speedy Gonzales it comes with a taco, enchilada and a side of beans or rice. Delicious and filling. Great atmosphere and staff!

My son & I love coming here. Such a welcoming environment. Friendly & on point staff to the delicious foods . The staff generally will overlap one another to keep the flow of service going. I really appreciate their efforts. The cooks are quick with getting your meal finished & served. Service sometimes feels like fast food style service which is great!! Keep up the amazing customer service!

What a great choice to cater lunch today! I called to place a to-go order for a taco bar at lunch. The manager was very friendly and had my order ready in less than 10 minutes. Everything was packaged nicely and the food was delicious. I forgot to ask for sour cream but everything else was there. 5 STARS! I definitely plan to do this again!

After two tries my meal was a soggy mess. I left with a sore belly from grease. The margaritas was good

El Azteca is a favorite of mine because the food is delicious and the staff are very friendly and welcoming. We have visited for both lunch and dinner and both service and food have been consistently great. The lunch service is quick so if you're short on time it's a good place for a quick lunch. They also offer to-go orders. It is located in the shopping center with Boston Market on Coliseum Drive in Hampton across from Peninsula Town Center. This visit I ordered the #3 lunch special which is the enchilada (your choice of meat) with rice and beans. My friend ordered the #15 lunch chimichanga special. Both dishes came out quickly and were tasty. They provide the usual complimentary chips and salsa with white sauce upon request which were both good. The salsa has a little kick to it so if you're sensitive to spicy food I'll taste it first ;) Overall El Azteca is a great choice for an affordable, delicious meal!

Love their food usually, a little pissed about the possible toenail in my sauce. Service was fast and great.

I've been here once before and while it is a good place, it's not a great place. I do like the spicy salsa, but not everyone likes a spicy salsa like I do. The food is good, but it's nothing to die for. The flautas are more like small chimichangas instead of rolled tacos. Not bad, but not great either. The chicken and rice with mushrooms and queso was the same as the chicken and rice, just with mushrooms. The white sauce is still unknown to me. I don't understand what it is besides some sort of ranch or the like. I don't have a need for it. We came with a large party and our waiter didn't seem to be able to keep up with it all. There is a greater language barrier here than at other places too, so be patient and know they can't understand you fully. I think unless we have a group that chooses this again, I'd probably try a different place for the next visit.

Bad food. Stuffy interior. Poor service. Gross chips. Worse salsa. I scraped all the meat out of my taquitos it was so bad.Skip. Skip. Skip. Skip. Skip. Notice the people eating there. They do not know about good Mexican food.
