El Azteca Mexican Restaurant

We finally found an authentic tasting Mexican restaurant! My husband stopped in to pick up our takeout order and came home reporting that this will be a good date night spot because of its liveliness and cleanliness. I was not able to eat all of my food because the portions were so big, placing it in the fridge for lunch a couple of days later. After warming it up in the toaster oven it was almost better than it was the night we picked it up. this is definitely our number two favorite in the area.

From the moment I stepped in, I was warmly greeted by the staff, who were both friendly and attentive. I was promptly seated, and they immediately offered me a high chair or booster seat for my child, which I appreciated for the convenience. The dining area had plenty of available tables, and the atmosphere felt lively, with other diners clearly enjoying themselves.The cart menu was extensive, which was a bit overwhelming at first, but everything was well organized. As a starter, we were served complimentary chips with cheese dip and salsa, a nice touch. The customer service truly stood out, especially with how much they engaged with my son, which made our experience all the more enjoyable.As for the food, it was good, though not particularly memorable. The house salsa was mild and somewhat watered down, lacking a bit in flavor. The plates came out very hot, so a word of caution for families with little ones.Would I return? Yes, it's a solid choice for a family meal. I recommend checking out this spot for its friendly service and decent fare.

This is my favorite Mexican spot to visit! I've been coming here for 17 years, and the staff are always friendly and great to talk to. Their salsa is hands down the best in the 757.

This has become our favorite Sunday spot for lunch. The service is impecable! Always so consistent and kind. They always seem adequately staffed and the restaurant is well run. Most customers seem like regulars because locals know this is the best Mexican restaurant in Norfolk! I always get veggie fajitas and this is exactly what you want- a hot, steaming plate of a variety of veggies with beans and accompaniments (I get the sour cream on the side for my partner). My partner got the chicken chimichangas which he describes as a 10 out of 10. He said the chicken was tender and cooked perfectly. In addition, you always get free chips and salsa immediately upon sitting down. The decor is fun and festive! Love this place. Exactly what you want in a Mexican restaurant.

I love Azteca usually but for some reason this is the mole they keep giving . I don't like cheese and I DO like mole sauce which this just seems to be cheese . I specifically said I do not want cheese or the mole Blanco. Very disappointed I can't seem to ever get mole here and will not be coming back.

Still our family go to for Tex Mex food. Made to order, served hot and fresh with a smile. Chips, salsa, and white salsa are our 757 fave. Did I mention the people who know us and take exceptional care to serve food they're proud of. We mostly go for lunch but recently went for my wife's birthday. Out of anywhere, she wanted Azteca. That says a lot. Our family faves still are Chicken Fajita quesadilla and beef taco salad.

GREAT SERVICE AND GOOD FOOD!Ambiance was really nice, and clean.The servers customer service is impeccable! All servers treat each customer as if they are theirs. So, your needs and concerns will be addressed even before you asked. We came back after the first time and it still feels like our first time. Great food and great service!

Always a homie experience, staff is prompt and attentive. Ambience is well put together and always highly recommended.

Beef corn tacos are the BOMB. Salsa and Queso both were spectacular. If you are in the area do yourself a favor and check it out. Service was excellent with several different servers asking if we wanted or needed anything. My understanding is that they are all family. If so they work together well

This restaurant is wonderful. The atmosphere is nice and clean. Sonja and Oscar are my favorite waitresses and waiter. The rest of the folks working in the restaurant are just the best. The owner is the nicest person you ever want to meet but he runs a tight ship. The food is superb and you get big portions! The prices are good, you must remember things have gone up everywhere.
