Duck Thru Shell

A small sized gas station and convenience store, but their restrooms need some work. One was out of service, and the other one that was working needs to be overhauled big time. Staff was decent.

Nice spot to grab some cheap gas. Normally the diesel prices a little higher probably due to the fact that you couldn't get a big rig in there for more frequent uses of diesel. Aside from that, they have boiled peanuts, could use a freshen up on the coffee a little more and see the basic items you would expect in a mom and pop gas station. Nothing too special here but great prices on gas.

Alright, I love me some fried chicken, there is no doubt. So, when I was out with one of my salesguys in Franklin, and he asked if I wanted to try the Best Fried Chicken around, I had no choice, right? So, it is a gas station. I am not against that, I have had a lot of small places inside stations with surprisingly good food, and this is no exception. The decor is what you'd expect, cheap bench style booths, laminate tops, and food served from the glass case, cafeteria style. That said, YUM!! Crispy skin, not oily but the meat is super juicy, they had the chicken formula down pat. The spiced apples, and mashed potatoes were great accompaniments too. Being so far out, it won't make the regular rotation, but maybe if I behave, my salesguy will snag me a too-go when he heads that way.... ha!! Probably not. In any event, if you;re traveling down that area, don't let the outside fool you, get in there and snag some good, stick-to-your- ribs Fried Chicken.

I have this saved in my GPS as "Cheap Shell" because their gas prices are always lower than other stations. Convenience store staff are always friendly, products are pretty standard and the bathrooms are typical for a small gas station. (Cold water only, lock in doorknob is broken, sliding bolt screwed onto door.
