Dominic's of New York

This gem been outside of Lowe's for as long as I can remember. If you ever been to Lowe's you know the iconic smell as you walk in and out of the building. However even though I've grew up in this area, I've never tried it before. This day I've decided to stop by and grab whatever produced that smell that was drawing me in. The kind worker mentioned it was a Philly cheese steak that he cooked previously, so of course I went ahead and grabbed one for myself. When I tell you that sandwich was so bomb! Well seasoned, stuffed with meat and cheese! And loads of veggies to match. I must say even though I couldn't find what I was looking for in Lowe's, I still left out a happy girl that day!

The Hotdogs were ok ... The service was not friendly at all..This was my second time there.. Both young men were not friendly at all.. I won't be going back..

My mom works here she makes the best food would recommend the cheesesteak, buffalo chicken Sandwich with jalapeños, and sausage.

This used to be the best place around for philly steak sandwiches. They were full of meat and cheese and the seasoning was the best! A guy worked there for years who knew how to hustle and make a dozen sandwiches at 1 time! I don't know what happened but it is pathetic now. The worker was extremely slow, could only make 2 sandwiches before taking anymore orders. It is only half the meat it used to be meaning now you get more bread than ingredients. The guy forgot the cheese, I'm not sure there was seasoning on it, if so very little. It's very unfortunate the way it has gone downhill, won't be ordering from them again.

The guy was super rude when we came up to order. He wouldn't let us order food because they were closed but the sign said 7:00 but we got there at 6. He had a terrible attitude when we questioned why the sign said something else. And told us the manager would be there the next day. We wanted a number to complain about his behavior and he said they don't have a number...

This place is slept on- for a quick bite head on over and grab a philly or even a hot dog! You can't go wrong ..It's located right outside of Lowe's in Newport News of bland and Jefferson.

Sitting in a little shack/stand right in front of Lowes is Dominic's of New York. It trumpets its presence by pumping the aroma of grilling beef, sausage and chicken with a load of garlic directly into the home improvement emporium, and driving all the guys crazy. We are overcome with the urge to devour something very greasy, and begin to wander out of the store, leaving our goods for purchase behind, like zombies catching the scent of humans. It didn't help that I was hungry, and this threw me over the edge. I abandoned my sister and brother in law and went out to see what was creating this intense buzzing in my head. I was caught in the web. People were standing in front of Dominic's, some ordering, and others just appearing dazed. I stepped up and asked for a small Chicken Cheesesteak. I had enough of my mental faculties to wonder about the pedigree of this place, as it was not a Philly bloodline, and New York steaks can be hit or miss. A few minutes later I had my answer. The smell was the best part of the deal. The sandwich was mediocre. The bread was all wrong (right shape, wrong texture), and the innards sort of plain tasting with the pile of Onions, Mushroom and Pepper carrying most of the weight. The proportions weren't right. Still, it was adequate for lessening my hunger, and had no lasting after effects. Most strikingly, it renewed my appreciation for my favorite places around Philly where a cheesesteak can induce entry to a kingdom of gluttonous pleasure. As soon as I return home, I will stop for a local greasy treat.

This place has gone way down hill, I used to love this place, but I also have bought my last sub from here today. The smell and the taste just arnt the same anymore, for the price it's nowhere near worth it. I would rather eat a cheeseburger from McDonald's.

I ordered the steak sub sandwich and the chicken sub sandwich with everything on it like shown on the pic and I gotta say I haven't a sub sandwich so dang delicious in such a long a$$ time. Their subs and DELICIOUS!! It's not your typical sub sandwich, subway has nothing on this place for real. I'm definitely going back for more!!!

Here it is 2:00 on Monday, I use to enjoy there Italian sausages and Philly cheesesteaks. The help they hire is below par. I waited 10 minutes in line just to find out it would be another 15 to 20 minutes before he had the onions and susauges cooked. It only takes a few minutes to put onions/sasuages on the grill when you see your running low. Owner may want to re-train the workers. I have run into this several times when Thaddus is working.
