Dirty Dick's Crab House - Nags Head

so maybe 4 stars is too much. i don't really know. we'd drive by and see a sign "get pounded for $16.16". classy right? but the idea got us in the door. a pound of protein (fish, shrimp or chicken) and, i think, a pound of fries (or maybe it was a pound total). either way, the plate had a huge helping of fries and fish.sometimes a place lives in your thoughts because it's so bad. other times, because it's so good. rarely is it for both reasons. first, our server was incredibly nice but service was slow and often we were looking around to see if we could find him to request a drink refill or even to get our check. on the other hand, he did save me some money...i was going to order a side of hushpuppies but he let us know we would receive complimentary puppies and i could order additional if i wanted more. thanks to him, i was able to try them and didn't order more. they were overcooked, tough, greasy and overall kinda bad.the fries were find but way too many. the fish, however, was incredible. i don't know what type of fish it was but it was light and flaky. mild in flavor and perfectly "breaded". i wish i knew what it was because i can't stop thinking of how good it was. even the tartar sauce was delicious, though completely different than i'm used to.anyway, i'd be willing to go back for that fish.

Had a great lunch here when visiting OBX. Prices were fair, plenty of food for what we ordered. Our server was very friendly and perfectly attentive. The kids especially loved their shark drinks. We'd gladly come back again

OH BOY! Where do I even begin. Let's start with our first request.. She Crab Soup. He brought out clam chowder but the waiter was happy to replace it with the correct soup once we reminded him. Throughout the entire time here the waiter was confused about what food goes to what table. The food itself was par although the flounder is not stuffed as advertised. At this point, Me and my date are ready leave but the nonsense wasn't ready to end. He delivered our check with out the check because it fell on the walk over and he picked it up after we pointed it out. He gave us tartar sauce that the other table requested and I had to hand him the sauce and remind him that the other table requested it. Again, food and ambiance is alright but service was basically a comedy skit.

Crab dip sandwich was the best thing here! Their salmon was also a solid dish. The hostess was very nice and came outside to grab us when our table was ready. The waitress was trying her best but she was managing multiple tables which made service a little slow. But not her fault. Multiple things we ordered came out wrong and our waitress was scared to tell the kitchen manager so I'm not really sure what that was about. It seemed like they didn't want to correct our order even though they had got it wrong. The oysters were also very small for the price but still tasted good. I don't know if I would go back but the crab dip sandwich is something you should try!

Nice place- plenty of seating in side.The food is good- I had the tacos with no cheese they were tasty.The service was good until I asked for no cheese on my taco! She said the cook doesn't like to change his food. He did because I can't have the dairy (she said he was not happy) what was worse one of our party is gluten free- I think that is also why they were not happy.Also the manager came by to tell us not to forget to tip extra for the bartenders.

Fun atmosphere and great specials. Scotty our server was great. We got the shrimp and crab pounders.

What an absolutely horrid experience... as someone who is a bartender/waitress I would be fired immediately for delivering the service that I was shown tonight. It took us 30 minutes for our waitress to come over, after I had ordered drinks at the bar. Then I ordered the king crab which was a whopping $126 per order, and received two crab legs which were bendy and contained no meat. Ordered it "boil" style which was a disgrace of an inedible sausage and two potatoes. And the oysters? Improperly kept as I was sick to my stomach for hours for the warm, rotten flesh they tried to serve me. Do not come here. Bar was closing down with 40+ people left simply because she could and the manager was "too busy" tending to the other (3) tables to come over and apologize for the meal. Terrible. Absolutely horrific. Do not risk it. Ambiance was appalling.

5 stars for DDX?! Yep Service Fast, friendly service and with a smile! Our waiter was helpful with menu questions accommodating to our requests and kept drinks refilled. Food Okay, I am even surprised by this one. I ordered the catch of the day, salmon and sides that came with that - zucchini and squash along with jambalaya rice. The meal I received was grilled to perfection, veggies were nicely seasoned and not layered in butter, and the rice was savory. The portion for the price was awesome! It's been a while since we needed a to-go box. My husband ordered the seafood boil - again, seafood cooked to perfection. Ambiance Clean, casual and fun! We arrived around 7:30om for dinner on a Saturday night, peak season. No wait and fast service. We will be back, absolutely loved it!

Dirty Dicks - wow, oh, wow! Our male server, who we've had a few times, was very attentive, as always. Our food - WOW is all we can say! The Mariners Platter was big enough for 2 grown men to share, and they still left food on the plate. It was a GIGANTIC portion size and oh so delicious! Another meal we had was the shrimp tacos, another WOW!! These were big tacos full of shrimp, not just 3 or 4 shrimp per taco. No, there was probably close to a dozen shrimp per taco, and wow, the sauce they were in, WOW! We will definitely be returning, very very soon, for another delicious meal!!

Fun atmosphere, friendly staff and great food and drinks.I recommend the bloody Marys.
