There are always suspicious men walking around. I did not feel safe at all. I had to contact a park ranger because a man was being inappropriate. I dont recommend this park for women to explore solo.

I love this jewel in the middle of the city. It's such a sanctuary. It's small enough to not get lost, the views everywhere are gorgeous, and it is seldom crowded. It's a clean park too. Whenever I feel stressed, I make a beeline for this little slice of heaven. When I have out of town visitors, I always take them here. I have some of the prettiest pictures that were taken during different seasons from this park. I love it here.

My son and I came to Virginia for vacation and we had a couple of hours to kill. This park was a nice place to stop so he could burn off some of that toddler energy. My main concern was the amount of trees that surrounded the park because this is a bad season for ticks. I was assured by some of the local parents that they spray often. I loved this park!

So many fond memories here from when I was little! It's lost some of its charm because I now pay attention to all the cheating wives/husbands who come here to meet up (and yes it's that obvious) not to mention sketchy figures who could be looking to distribute drugs. But the area has been kept pretty tidy and the playground looks new as well! And you can't legally feed the ducks anymore, but it's still fun to see them :)

I've lived in the area for most of my life, but only just now got around to checking out this park. I did NOT feel safe there. There were a lot of cars with grown men just sitting in them the various parking lots, and they were there when I arrived and when I left an hour later. I walked part of the nature trail (which was very overgrown and not laid out very well in the first place) and ended up by the fence separating the park from the railroad. There was a big hole in the fence and a group of men hanging out on the tracks, and when they noticed me they turned and started moving toward the hole. It might have been nothing, but I still turned a corner and ran back to the entrance of the trail. I was there during the middle of a weekday and it may be different when school is out and there are lots of families there. The playground looked like it was in good condition. But after today I don't think I'd ever feel comfortable going back, let alone bringing a child there.

This is a great park for little kids in Newport News. I like that it is fairly closed in and open, so you can tell if your child is trying to be an escape artist. It has ample parking.

When I get my granddaughter, she requests this park! She loves it! There's different things to play on that you don't see at typical playgrounds!

This park is so cute! It's peaceful, quiet, intimate and overall in a good, safe location. There are joggers ( lots of joggers) but the park is large enough that there's room for everyone. I recommend this park if you're in the area. It overlooks the water and has a gorgeous view of the sunset.
