Been here twice. First time was just fair but locals told me to try again. So I did, hush puppy was so hard I banged it on the table and my plate shook. Fish was extremely over cooked and I couldn't finished. Green beans tasted strait out of a can with NO seasoning, who in the south can't fix a decent green bean??? The sign outside advertised boiled fish I thought they misspelled and meant broiled, and the waitress said boiled was right. then I asked if potatoes or carrots or something was in the water with the Boiled fish? I just didn't know?The waitresses response was ,'the locals know'. Well, my cash is federal, not local, and we won't be back. When the sweet young lady at cash register asked, how was your meal, and I responded, very disappointing. Her response was 'oh'. She was so cute I didn't take it further.

Great quality food at a family restaurant! This is the first time we've stayed on Manteo side, and stopped to try Darrell's. The inside has more of a family-style feel to it and was very clean. The service was 5 stars, she was on it and very friendly!My husband ordered the Surf & Turf that came with a Ribeye and your choice of seafood, he opted for fried oysters. I ordered the choose two, shrimp & clam strips which were also good! My husband had the seasonal tomatoes in a vinaigrette, which i'll admit was a little different, but he enjoyed them. We would definitely stop back if we were in the area again. Thanks for a great dinner!

"Good seafood at a family restaurant in Manteo"We stopped by here on a Wednesday just after noon. The setting felt like an old-school family restaurant, and definitely lots of "fish"/ "beach" themed art around, which makes sense for the location. Service was very friendly-- we were greeted warmly, sat promptly, and checked on regularly. The restaurant was clean and relatively quiet.I ordered the seafood "bowl" option, which had mango salsa, avocado, tomatoes etc., over a bed of rice and your choice of tuna, mahi mahi, or shrimp. I ordered mine with tuna, well-done (rare was also a choice). My daughter got hers with the mahi mahi. We did see that, with a Yelp check-in, there was an option for a free popcorn shrimp appetizer if one orders two entrees and two drinks, but we didn't get a second drink, so I didn't try.Food came in maybe 10-15 minutes or so. It was DELICIOUS. The combination of flavors was amazing. Both fish were great but different-- the tuna was much denser than the mahi mahi, which made it more filling but also a little more chewy (though delicious). The mahi mahi was lighter in both senses.The dishes weren't super-cheap (I think they were about $17 each before tax and tip), but for the high quality, and in a touristy area, I think this was very fair.I'd happily come back, and I'd happily get the same dish again.

I decided to eat here on my second night in Manteo and it was a good decision. It is good value for your money and they're all you can eat Fried shrimp is definitely worth it. I had eaten somewhere more expensive the night before, and was very disappointed so this was a nice and pleasant surprise. The ambience is more relaxed, and it's obviously beach food. It's not five star cuisine but it's tasty and the service is wonderful. My server was more or less handling the whole floor and aside from being just a little bit slow, he did a great job at covering all the tables.I would definitely come back here to eat when I'm in Manteo again !

Darrell's is my favorite place for breakfast in the Outer Banks! If you do visit this adorable restaurant you have to try their sausage. You can get it in either links or patties, which I personally chose patties just because the links appeared to be a little thick for my liking. Their stewed apples were very yummy, with just the right amount of sweetness and cinnamon. Another thing i'd like to note is how sweet our waitress Skylar was! She seemed so kind and genuine that I felt like a true local here at Darrell's. Anytime I am back in the Outer Banks I will be stopping in once again, and I might even try to venture out and try some of their lunch or dinner options!

Food is really good. Prices are good. Service is pretty good. We did wait awhile for our check. Feels like home here.

Buffalo shrimp is to die for. Fish of the day was Mahi Mahi, and the filet was very thin, kinda stuck to the pan, but it tasted good.Wings were really good. The hot sauce is preeetttty hot. I was sweatin.The caesar salad was also very good.Hush puppies were not super. They were a little too dry for me.Our waitress forgot to bring us extra napkins when we asked, we asked again, she brought them, no big deal.There was another very friendly waitress who was very jovial and funny, she engaged with our table a few times. The vibes were nice. Found ourselves kinda whispering though so maybe some music would improve the atmosphere.

Great service and a great breakfast. Had the fishcake special with eggs and hash browns. Fishcakes were delicious!

I always like going to Darrell's. Today we tookFamily visiting the OBX from Pennsylvania. Everyone enjoyed their meals! Thank you.

Super friendly. Nice ambiance inside, a lot of beautiful art, and very clean. Limited parking outside but it's paved and handicapped accessible. Soups are house made and very good. It is open year round. We had scallops they were great cooked perfectly! Had a hamburger steak with mash potatoes and gravey! They have home made mash potatoes here; it was so good! Highly recommend this place!! I would drive just to come here!!
