We took two expensive specialty shirts in to Dan Ryan's to be tailored and they tailored the sleeves too short. We have been promised reimbursement several times by Dan Sr. but have never received it. We were even told the check would be put into the mail, it never was. We have followed up with them multiple times over multiple months, and each time we call they act like they have no idea what we're talking about. It's been extremely frustrating, especially as these shirts were a birthday gift for my husband and they are now unwearable.When they do a good job, Dan Ryan's is great. But if they mess up, especially on a product not purchased in their store, the service is sub-standard. We moved out of the area and feel they don't care about the damage they did to our items because we are no longer local, even though we had been repeat customers for over a year prior to our move.There are other good men's stores in Virginia Beach, I would recommend looking at those before Dan Ryan's. If you do go to Dan Ryan's do not have them tailor anything you didn't purchase from them. They will not reimburse you the cost of the tailoring OR the cost of the item they ruined, for something purchased elsewhere.

When people typically think "Style" they tend to go to the big box brand or the outlets. However, we're fortunate to have this resource locally.I wanted to get a pair of premium denim jeans and thought I'd give this spot a try. I went in and joked around with the sales guy, basically saying I don't have a style when it comes to jeans, here's where I'm going, here's why I want them, whats best. After some explanations, I ended up with a pair that I tried on and worked perfectly. My only complaint was their prices were a little high compared to the interwebs, but that's always the case. In this particular case though they were about 30% higher. I was willing to pay it for the consultation though and of course to actually try the thing on, plus supporting locally owned and operated.They also have style events, with vendors that come in, tastings, etc... very interesting.

I have know the family for more than 40 years and I greatly appreciate the attention to Detail than both Dan (s) have brought to their customers! If you are looking for top drawer clothing and quality,,,look no further!You can even find some really great offerings on some of the "deals" . Come to Dan Ryans, You will be greatly pleased and the results always look good on you!

I went by the store on a Tuesday after reading about their tailoring services on their website. I had a tailored suit that had developed a tear in the pants, and I was looking for reweaving services. The associate with whom I spoke that Tuesday was friendly and professional. He advised me that they could not do the repair in-house, but that they sent that sort of tailoring job to an outside provider. He acknowledged that I had purchased the pants from a different location, quoted a reasonable estimated price, and asked that I bring the pants in and they would take care of everything. So far, exactly what I'd expect.I came in the following Thursday with the suit pants and find a different associate in the show room. I fill him in on the Tuesday conversation only to have him abruptly ask if I had bought the suit from Dan Ryan's. As a recent transplant to the area, I told him that I had purchased it while living elsewhere. He then told me they didn't do repairs for suits purchased elsewhere and referred me to a tailor in downtown Norfolk. Although I appreciated the referral, it is not at all what I was told earlier. It's unfortunate an otherwise nice shop would give a potential new customer inconsistent narratives and force me to waste a trip. I fail to understand the business sense of devoting an entire portion of the website to "master tailoring" services, but refusing to tailor anything but items purchased there in a town filled with transient residents (military, etc.). Either the associate I spoke with Thursday misunderstood the store's services or the Tuesday associate misled me. Either way, I am unimpressed and likely will not return.

Dan has been a fixture in Virginia Beach for over 30 years. His clothing choices remain up to date with top notch brands at fair prices. Highly recommended.
