Great stay. This is a unique house that sits on the sound of the outer banks and is surrounded by a natural and woodsy landscape. Feels very cozy. You have a view of the bay from the porch and there's a dock that leads out over the water. The owners were very sweet and accomodating but not at all overbearing. You also have full access to bikes and kayaks at no extra cost. We rode bikes to the beach. Would stay again!

We stayed in August of 2011. Its located just a short drive from the beaches. There are plently of places nearby to get anything you could need for your vacation including great restaurants and local food. It was a beautiful and extremely comfortable room. The porch was just beautiful with double seat swings at each room upstairs. There are 2 houses actually and we stayed at the newer one. The rooms all face the sound and sunset it amazing on those balconies. This place is so clean and well kept and very eclectic and funky. I have to say that the reason I chose this inn was because they had new king size tempurpedic mattresses. I am very picky about beds and this one was the most comfortable bed Ive ever slept in, the pillows too. Especially away from home. The other reason is that it said on their website that there was free wifi. I will say at the time we stayed there there was only wifi in the main house so we didnt really have that available. They said we could go over and use the main house parlor there for wifi but it was kind of weird for my husband because he woke up early and didnt want to wake the other guests up. Also walking between houses at night for wifi was not something I wanted to do. They said they may have more broad wifi access some time in the future so maybe that will change who knows. It would not stop me from coming back I can assure you. The surroundings more than makeup for the lack of wifi. The hosts were such a sweet pair which we looked forward to chatting with every day. They serve homemade breakfast out on your porch every day with very strong coffee first then they comeback with interesting, fresh high quality ingredient egg concoctions. Something different every day. They were extremely helpful and enjoyed giving us great suggestions and easy directions to wherever we wanted to go. We literally walked into a mama deer and her 2 babies while we were walking under the main house to go out to the sound. I couldnt believe it. We also saw a fox and rabbits in that secluded area they are in located at just off the main road. We also saw a beaver in the sound and little crabs at the edge of the sound. There is a cool walkway out from each of the houses that walks out to the sound and cool benches. Its very sceneic so amazing with boats floating by and the sunset.I recomend this place for adults only. There are so many eclectic funky things all about the house that Id be afraid they might be ruined by kids. Also the whole house's wood floors are rather noisy even from within your room but if its just adult traffic it isnt a problem. But I could imagine running feet and loud voices would echo through the whole place.I wish there was a lock on each of the room doors but they did have a closet that you could lock valuables up but the rooms remain unlocked. This didnt pose a problem and we werent worried about our stuff truthfuly but Id have liked to lock it just the same.We spent a whole week and we would love to stay again. I hope we do get to comeback someday. We loved it!

Was there in May. Location is a bit difficult to find (you won't believe you're still on the right road, but persevere!), and the house is huge. Nice views of bay, nice balconies, nicely appointed rooms (ours a little small), but there was a small refer (we kept wine and fruit there), and a DVD player. Breakfasts were imaginative if not particularly filling, and served when you wanted them (within limits). Nice common area, but the other guests stayed to themselves. Prices OK for area. I'd return, but not with a sense that it was going to be great -- but certainly OK.

I truly enjoyed my stay at The Cypress Moon Inn. The Inn has a great view over the sound in Kitty Hawk They have kayaks and bikes for no extra charge. The sound is only two feet deep so the open top kayaks are easy. They also have a pier into the sound with seating, We also liked the porch which is right outside the room, The breakfast is really good and they give you two options cooked or continental if you don't want to get up early. I like to sleep a bit late but I did try the hot breakfast and then opted for it for my entire stay. This place is quiet because it is not in a commercial zone at the end of a lane in the woods on the sound, the sunsets were great. The Beach in Kitty Hawk is 5 min away with no crowd and clean clear water while we were there. I would return, Greg and Linda were very helpful and nice. they built the house themselves and it is beautiful The house looks old but is a newer home with modern AC and plumbing. We stayed in September 2014.

Really dirty! The bathroom sinks were splashed with coffee, the mirrors were spotted, surfaces and floors were dusty on all edges, and if you like the lovely common room photo in their photos, it is layered with dust an inch thick. It all just felt yucky!! The breakfast muffins were standard grocery store and the coffee you make yourself was weak and lacked flavor. They have age old hand scribbled sticky notes everywhere telling you what not to do including a large envelope asking for housekeeping tips. Even the sunset pier had broken furniture. For $175.00 per night I would not stay here again. In fact, I would not stay here at any price. I would have been happier in a chain motel!!

My boyfriend and I stayed here for the weekend and loved it! The room we stayed in was large and beautiful. We had a king bed, office desk and chair (which was perfect for him to do some work in the evenings), small dining area for breakfast (although we ate outside on the porch every morning), private restroom, fridge, coffee maker, and TV in the room. We could exit our room directly onto the large shared porch at the back of the house (which would only have been shared with one other room, although I don't think anyone was staying there this weekend). The view was gorgeous - we felt like we had our own spot of paradise. Even though it was cloudy all weekend, it was gorgeous. We walked down the pier and sat out there, which was so calm and lovely. Linda and Greg were wonderful to chat with and gave us some great recommendations for places to eat and things to do. The location was ideal to us because we felt like we were away from civilization in the wildlife while still being so close to all the beaches (an especially short drive to Kitty Hawk Beach). This place is such a nice alternative to the mainstream hotels and the overpriced places right on the beach. In terms of our experience and the value of this place, we were both very happy here. I would definitely recommend this gem, and would absolutely stay here again!

My son and I visited Cypress Moon Inn in July, 2014 and thoroughly enjoyed it! It was our first vacation to the Outer Banks, a place we had always wanted to visit.Greg and Linda were very cordial hosts. They made our stay very comfortable. We enjoyed the views from the porch and also from the dock on the sound. The room was everything we needed. I won't stay in another hotel! B&B is the way to go. The cost was a little bit more than we wanted to pay, but it was worth it! The location, the quietness, the environment...all made it a trip worth remembering! Maybe we can go again one day! :)

Really great place. Very secluded and private. Like a rustic B&B you would find in the mountains only right on the Sound. I really liked the breakfast concept that allowed you to eat when you wished and not be the regimented sit down group gathering. Rooms were great and the owners made us feel very welcome and were extremely knowledgeable about the island. We took their recommendations on places to eat and see and found them all excellent suggestions. We will definitely return.

Our stay at the Cypress Moon in was absolutely perfect! We stayed in early April, for two nights. The location was perfect, very easy to find, and close to everything you could need. The views from our room were absolutely breath taking -- we spend both of our evenings relaxing at the table outside of our room on the balcony -- also where we ate breakfast both mornings. Also on the balcony are lovely hammock chair swings, and a small couch - both were cozy. The room was beautiful -- and the bed was so comfortable! One of our favorite aspects of the Inn was how they do breakfast; each night, they bring up a tray of pastries, fruit, yogurt, coffee, teas, etc. We loved this because it allowed us to wake up and eat at our leisure, as opposed to being woken up and needing to get presentable to eat with others. We are hoping to return soon, and look forward to doing so!
