Really enjoyed this event and it was our first time here. The weather was great for today as it wasn't too hot or too cold.I kind of wish the competitors had been in order of what was on the ticket for sides because it almost mapped out to have all of one side in the same lane to keep track. Also would have wished more cider had been involved as a lot of our party doesn't drink beer. Also would have enjoyed some wine options. Maybe next year there will be some more variety as there was a cidery present and their cider was great. The burger portions were perfect and the lines, while long, didn't have long waits. Vendors super personable and I enjoyed this being a 21+ event. Next time we will bring chairs, but kind of wish there had been more shade that wasn't for VIP.

I absolutely love CoVA events They do such a great job. This is my 2nd time at Burger Battle. 1st was pre covid. I love the location! This particular event was a bit unorganized but that's because it had been cancelled due to Covid. Some people had E tickets, paper tickets or name on a list. I fortunately had zero problems. But the line got long quick. The line for tickets for beer was also very long. Once again I believe they didn't have the manpower as years before. It was a beautiful day but I am bringing a tent next year for some shade. And maybe a few chairs. So many delicious sliders. I tried my best to eat them all. Definitely check out this event next year.....it's a great one.

What an amazing event! It was the perfect day to sample some delicious burgers and refreshing drinks. Parking was easy but I wish I had known there were spots closer to the actual grounds - However, glad to have walked farther, as we definitely needed to walk off some of the calories we ate! Each and every vendor was welcoming! The setup was well organized with both restaurants and breweries settled together - in fact, many burgers had pairings with the beers/stouts/ciders and it made for a nice combination. The docents at the Military Aviation Museum, where the event was held, were super nice and told us all about the aircraft (which were all still functional!) in the hangar. Will bring the kiddos back to explore. Went home with a full belly and a tan. Can't wait for next year's event!

The actual event was excellent. Tasty and inventive combinations of burgers. Vendors were all friendly and excited to be participating. Enjoyed the ample space and the live music. Wish I had thought to bring camp chairs. Will do that next year. I have to take off a star for the disorganized line at entry. We arrived a few minutes after 12 for the 12-5 event. The line was several hundred people long with no indication as to whether this was the line to purchase tickets, advance tickets or will call. Speaking to others in line it appeared to be a mix of all and everyone was confused. My wife and others walked ahead to ask the event officials. At first there wasn't any clarity provided. Eventually some came out to split the lines into 3 separate lines - QR codes on phone, printed tickets with QR codes and will call. Not sure why the printed tickets weren't QR scanned for legitimacy just like the ones on the phone. In all it took 25-30 mins in line before we entered. One in the event area lines were reasonable - at most 25-30 people deep but most were shorter and all moved well.

Great event, lots of food and beer. Obviously some burgers were better than others. Some places (sweetwater and 1608 ) ran out of burgers which is odd since it was a burger competition. Bay local was tasty and cooked perfectly juicy while others were over cooked and dry.

This was my first time experiencing something of this magnitude with food. Burger after Burger after burger. I felt like I had become Pac-Man and the burgers should've gave me special powers. But my stomach was a never ending pit and those powers never came. Eventually I obtained the feeling of ingesting a ton of concrete straight to my stomach. They should have a nap area due to this "Itis" kicking so hard! The voting system was pretty interesting. Well, other than the fact that some of the reps walked around trying to sweet talk people and bribe them with burgers to get their vote. These Silver and Gold tokens made them wander around begging like an addict for just one more coin!Don't get me wrong, I did enjoy it. I wasn't even mad that the walk from/to the lot was long, because people definitely need to walk that stuff off before they hit the twists and turns of Pungo! Beware: Dangerous stomach cramps ahead! The huge selection of burgers were delicious. I feel like a couple of the spots did it just to get their name out and didn't really prep to knock the competition out. But some rocked my socks! Burgers with random meats, cheeses, jams, fried things and seasonings took flight into the pit in my face. Then my buddies and I washed them down with beers. Heavy burgers and bubbly brews = alot of burps. The setup was good. The fact the burgers were spaced out with the beers made a nice way to put up a barrier for establiments not to talk smack to each other. But those coins though. I still haven't heard of any winners announced. The crowd didn't stick around long there. The weather was perfect, bellies were full, and people were just handing their restaurant tickets out along with their beer tickets. Tastes were half pours so people couldn't hang. But I didn't spot anyone out of their mind drunk so that's a plus. Two things I would've changed:The music level: You could hardly hold a conversation at the tables so people ventured away from it. The voting system: The fact that the reps can swoon people and hassle them for their votes shouldn't happen. Their food should make that simple mark on your soul, then you remember the fantastic burger you had, and you vote somewhere away from their tents. I do appreciate the effort that went into this and the tasty food that made me drool on the walk to the main event! I hope I get to experience it again next year with an even bigger group of friends!

I made it through all 17 burgers! Near the end I had to leave most of the buns behind in fear of the Keto Gods coming down on me and going into a diabetic spiral. The craft beers were great to help wash it all down. Mingled with some great people and the restaurants kicked ass with producing quality burgers. I will be back next year with a bigger appetite!

This was the best day of my life! 17 amazing restaurants in the Coastal Virginia area battling for the best burger...and we get to taste them all and judge? A dream come true! Especially when you didn't purchase the tickets you won them! The location this year was at the Military Aviation Museum in the Pungo area. There was a wait for bag check then I was able to go directly to the tent marked contest winners. Hubby and I got our tickets, got our tasting glass and voting coin, and went at it! 1608 Crafthouse219 BistroBay LocalBlack PelicanBlue Pete'sBoardroomEgg BistroJ&KLionheadsThe LandingOld Beach TavernRepealSage KitchenSweetwaterWarriorsUnionAle HouseThe burgers were delicious! Each restaurant had their own burger showcased and we were to drop a coin in the one we thought was the best! In addition to all this, there were vendors there such as Pure Romance, Mary Kay, Spoon Dessert Cafe, and many more. They had live music and the band was great! I had an awesome time and can't wait for next year's!!

We went to the the Battle of the Burgers a few years ago, I think it was postponed a couple of years because of Covid. It wasn't what I expected and now they charge $35 just to enter (in the heat), BTW, it isn't free inside. I'd get lunch elsewhere and visit the Military Aviation Museum on another day.
