This was a neat experience. This company requests an arrival 30 minutes before your reservation which I see now the necessity for. Reservations are necessary as even in November I could not believe how many people were taking this tour. The tour starts at there office approx. 15 minutes away from where horses roam. The hummer vehicles are operated with diesel engines which are loud making conversation a little trying. The driver uses a mick and two speakers located at front of vehicle. People in back rows had a very difficult time hearing driver.Tour begins with a drive on beach to arrive in dunes where horses are most likely found. This company has many vehicles running at same time and drivers communicate with each other when horses are located. Very interesting to see that these animals live amongst private home properties in the sand dune area. The drive can be a little bumpy at times as paths are all natural, no paved roads. After taking this tour I am so glad we did not attempt this on our own. These horses roam a large area and are hidden by dunes, brush and buildings. Besides the fact you need a vehicle to traverse loose sand.If your interested seeing wild horses in a natural environment this tour is worth your time and money. I do say that a better sound system in vehicles would enhance experience.

My family and I had a wonderful time at Corolla Wild Horse Tours! There were about 8-10 horses visible on our We had the 1:00pm slot and so we thought it would be too hot but it was wonderful because the roof is a solid blue that fully protects from the sun on top. No need to be overly concerned about sunscreen unless sitting on the end! The tour guide was very informed about the horses and the history of the area. It was a fun real estate tour as well! The vehicle was in excellent condition and would do it again in a heartbeat!

We had so much fun! Our guide was very friendly and knowledgeable. We saw 8 horses total, and learned not only about them, but also about the history of the island.Definitely keep your seat belt buckled, and don't wear a hat unless you can secure it under your chin. If you're prone to motion sickness you may want to take a Dramamine prior to the tour.

Great tour! Our guide was really knowledgeable and fun. He stopped the truck occasionally to get out and tell us about the horses and their history. It was fun driving on the beach. He also knew all of the horses names, and knew where to find them. When he found them, he'd also turn the truck around, so that each side of people could see the horses. That was really nice because sometimes it was hard to see over peoples heads and cameras. The whole tour was two hours long.

Wow! I absolutely loved my tour. The tour guide was informative and did her best to find the horses. My favorite was the drive along the beach and watching the horses frolicking along the beach. A once in a lifetime experience definitely worth paying for and experiencing. Just book it!

Karen gave us an amazing tour of the area where these amazing Spanish mustangs live. She was very informative and helpful, answering questions and allowing amazing photo opportunities at each of the horse sightings. On our way back along the beach, we got to see 5 horses with a week old colt! What a thrill! Karen knew the names and ages of many of the horses we "met." We have seen the horses in the past, but always did a self guided tour by jeep. This tour was even better because we learned so much and could ask questions, too. We highly recommend this company and Karen!

All other factors being equal, if you're trying to decide between tours and respect the values most small businesses uphold, I'd put this tour company at the bottom of the list.We made a reservation for 12:30 pm then called back ten minutes later to move it to 10:00 am because my husband had a client call. Woman on the phone reassured my husband that would be moved to the 10am tour.Upon arrival we discovered that someone had dropped the ball. The person at the counter (Julia- doing the best she could given that she wasn't responsible for the screw up) acknowledged that another employee- a new hire- had failed to take the steps to confirm the change. The only concession was a full refund. We were two families with four kids (ages 2-5) in tow and now had to choose between crestfallen kids or hours in limbo. Then I asked to speak to the owner- Wendy White- who was on the phone with her employee. Not only was this woman unapologetic, she was hostile. I started by recognizing mistakes happen but saddled with four toddlers, the 2.5 hours was more than an inconvenience. It also meant my husband, who had a work call that afternoon, wouldn't be able to make the tour. Her response was to blame us. "It was on you to call back when we didn't email you." I was incredulous and then she said, "You can go on this tour or you can take the refund. Either way, I WILL fill those seats." Not wanting to disappoint the kids, we waited it out and went on the 12:30 tour. The majority of it is through rows of beach houses with a wild horse few and far between- we spotted two in front yards and one along the beachfront. On a sunny day, the open air ride is nice. But the owner is not.
