It's a little hidden but it's gem. I have no complaints. Everything was so fresh and quit frankly one of the few spots I give 5 stars. The vibe was so chill with R&B classics. The teas and coffees were freshly pressed to perfection. The food was top tier and was honestly surprised by textures and rich flavors. Amazing

The vibe of the place is a very cute brunch place. I liked their seasonal drinks and their coffee flights. The fried rice bowl was kind of bland, I wish there was some sauce with it. The parking is pretty limited, so you can park at a parking lot a few blocks away or do street parking, but the street parking is narrow spot.

The vibe in here is great - industrial feel with lots of plants and an earthy feel.Service was wonderful - very quick, attentive, and had a lot of passion for the food.Food - I think it's good! Personally I think we didn't pick the best entrees for our preference. The oyster mushrooms are battered and fried like chicken and are great if you like them but kind of overtook my Benedict, the biscuits needed a tad bit more salt but otherwise were good. The drinks - incredible! I LOVED the burnt honey latte. The Bloody Mary with house made pickles was very lovely as well. Overall, definitely worth checking out. Plenty of vegetarian options and carnivore options alike.

This was our first time stopping for brunch in several years! We arrived around 11:30am and were seated promptly. The space is welcoming, clean, modern and relatively quiet when you consider how open the floor plan is. The attention to detail and overall aesthetic is chic and modern. The food was exceptional. My friend got the pancake stack with sausage and scrambled eggs. I snuck a bite of the pancake and it was... divine! My husband got the cornmeal chicken & waffles. I was surprised by the waffle, I thought they'd be dry but they were perfectly done. Lastly I got the biscuits and gravy, which were good but a little too much pepper for me. Overall, the food was excellent and we're looking forward to coming back soon!

I was on a work trip and was staying right near Commune. Walking by I was immediately drawn into the "fresh food" sign and knew I had to try. I went two days in a row!The space is large yet warm and inviting. I appreciated all the plants strategically placed all around the restaurant. I chose to sit in an area with a high top table next to a cozy area with couches. I was immediately greeted by staff and offered menus and beverages. The drink selection was very nice. I tried a mimosa flight on day one and then a yummy pink drink the second day that I can't remember the name of. It was an amazing cocktail. For food I did the avocado toast and the fried rice bowl. Although I was not a huge fan of the bread, the avocado toast was good. The fried rice dish was a very large portion and I loved it. The ingredients were so fresh. This was a lovely lunch time dining experience!

Tried Commune in Norfolk for the first time. We chose this restaurant because of its supposed freshness. The restaurant is located in the Neon district that is known for its art; it has a rustic, artsy feel. All of the staff are dressed very comfortably to match the vibes. I love that the staff seemingly all work together. No one person is the hostess, and any one available might wait on you. Our first server explained 90% of their menu items are farm to table with the exception of their citrus and coffee items. They are sourced by local farms! I ordered a la carte and had scrambled eggs with cheese, bacon, and their seasonal roasted vegetables. I also had the fungi latte. We ordered the hash tots as an appetizer, and I did taste my sisters pulled pork hash bowl. My meal was delicious. However, I will say the waitress said the roasted veggies was a mix of cabbage and carrots which was totally wrong. It was carrots, sweet potato, beets, green beans, and I believe radishes. Again, all very good but not what the waitress said it would be. Our hash tots came out burnt, and the middle was entirely too salt to me. The pulled pork hash bowl was just OK. It wasn't the most flavorful. I think had it been better seasoned, it could've been a hit. I did really enjoy the fungi latte that came with lions lane mushroom. Everything tasted vert fresh and clean. You could tell it wasnt the overly processed stuff you get at most places. Will definitely come back to try other dishes.

Came here with my bestie for brunch. I've been meaning to try this farm to table restaurant out. I have many memories in this building thinking back to the times of Work Release and found myself pointing out how the set up used to be.This restaurant is open with loads of natural lighting which makes a relaxed but beautiful atmosphere to enjoy a meal. Our server was also super sweet and helpful. My friend ordered a breakfast biscuit which he thought was okay and I ordered the pulled pork hash that had pulled pork, poached egg, and an Alabama white sauce over white and sweet potatoes. The meat was tender, juicy and flavorful. My potatoes were a bit undercooked but overall I enjoyed my meal. I also got the mocktail with watermelon and basil which was super refreshing. I would definitely come here again and checkout lunch offerings.

We stopped by this morning for a quick coffee and sandwich. Both were great. The service was excellent. We are greeted by a chipper and happy person who was having a Super-Fine Day! That was a great start. This building was originally an old Texaco station, and the architectural touches are really cool to look at.There is street parking available for this eatery and a little paved parking lot to the left that we parked in.

Cute cozy rustic restaurant. Feels like farm to table already..seating area open to the kitchen counter . Large sofas are in the corner with a TV streaming fireplace for great ambiance. I was seated right away. Took about 7 minutes for waitress to come over , she apologized for the wait which was cool and sign of awareness. I ordered the fried rice bowl since I wanted great combination of greens, protein and yes, carbs! Asked the waitress if it's good and she commented how delicious it is - cross fingers, of which I got complimented for my nice nail color lol!!There seems to be a good mix of locals and tourists. Great for large group or intimate or romantic (however romantic you can get over brunch and cocktail selections! It's taken 15 minutes for my order but at least my water was being refilled. I hear the chef ring the bell, hope that's my order! And sure it was! This was the most flavorful fried rice bowl I've tasted in Hampton roads area! Even better than the place that rhymes with Locktrot! Too bad the tips are shared amongst all waiters staff, I had wanted to give my waitress 100% tip , I even asked if she would entertain pocketing it, what an honest one! 10 stars for character.
