Colonial NHP is spread out over Jamestown, Yorktown and a road connecting them. We went to the visitor center in Yorktown and thought it was great. It did a great job of explaining what led up to the British surrender and how it happened. I especially liked the part of a ship that was built into the visitors center. Walking through it really was like walking through an 18th century ship - very cool. The visitors center did a great job of explaining the surrounding area and helping us decide where to go. I enjoyed it and would definitely recommend checking it out when visiting Yorktown.

Very important to visit for outstanding informationColonial Williamsburg is a 50 -year experience for our family. We recommend a week in this area, and we always trade into a Five Star Timeshare to enjoy Destination Williamsburg.I have escorted educators and university students for years. A Colonial Williamsburg ticket is essential. The Colonial area requires several days of intense history. And presently Colonial Williamsburg is offering ticket a full season of Williamsburg for the price of one day. There are several excellent restaurants in or near Merchant's Square, which borders Colonial Williamsburg, and there is parking at Merchant's Square.Be aware that like most of the Tide Water area, that Colonial Williamsburg is very hot and humid in the summer. Fall and spring are delightful; however, we love to visit during the Christmas season with Colonial Williamsburg in full Colonial Christmas decorations and the street bond fires.Dining in the 18th Century setting id provided at the following:* Christiana Campbell's Tavern®* Chowning's Tavern®* King's Arms Tavern®* Shields Tavern®Christiana Campbell's Tavern is our favorite colonial inn. A Colonial Williamsburg ticket is not required for colonial dining; however, we strongly recommend reservations. The Williamsburg Inn may provide a special dinner for a couple.Yes, one can "muddle" through Williamsburg without a Colonial Williamsburg ticket, but Colonial Williamsburg ticket is essential to the experience.Nearby Yorktown and Jamestown (two locations) require tickets and are well worth the price.Do read restaurant reviews, and take a digital restaurant list on your laptop. Some of the best Williamsburg restaurants are located outside Colonial Williamsburg. One must research to locate the best seafood establishments.Colonial Williamsburg is not a "bucket list" experience. Colonial Williamsburg is a reasonable drive for the east coast and the Midwest tourist. Colonial Williamsburg is a short flight from everywhere east of the Mississippi. Expect to return many times to this wonderful history!

Great National Park in which to experience one of the most important battles in American history. Easy to walk around and a well prepared visitors center make this site a must. I would visit again. Plan on spending 4 or more hours here to savor the experience.

Stopped in for a little bit. I am a firm believer that there is something good to find in every visitor center out there.

One of the greatest places in our country to see remnants of, and learn the truth behind our nations birth and formative early years, from Settlement to Society.Have felt for most of my life, that ALLAmericans should be required to visit America's Colonial Triangle and The District of Columbia, and all of our national greatest treasures located in the Smithsonian Institution and museums, and all are found in Va., um er, Washington D.C.If you want to instill in your children or family a love and respect for how we became the greatest nation on Earth, a trip to the birthplace of what we know of as America, The 1st Successful English Settlement in The New World- Jamestown, The Victory Center at Yorktown, and the jewel of Southeastern Virginia, Colonial Williamsburg; are all indispensable.Visiting will take you from American to Patriot, and from Patriot to Super Patriot!!
