I chose the pickup option & they picked out the best pumpkins!!! $10 for a fairytale pumpkin that weighted probably 15 lbs. They are so great there. They carried it to my car & I was in my way back to a beautiful drive. Please support our community & visit them!!!

Autumn is my favorite time of year; the temperature drops; the leaves change; and most of all--it's pumpkin time! I love everything about pumpkin, so when I read about College Run Farm (CRF) serving homemade pumpkin ice cream, I was sold. My boys and I decided to take advantage of a gorgeous fall day and drove to CRF in Surry. If you've been to Chippokes State Park, you know how rural that road is and narrow. CRF is right up the road past Chippokes' entrance. We figured we might be the only customers there; we were shocked to see a full parking lot and many people.CRF has pumpkins available already picked, but what's the fun of that? We went to the pumpkin patch with our sheet in hand -I posted a picture- and cutters in order to cut the pumpkin off the vine. My boys decided they wanted Aladdins, and they were in Section 1, easy to find. My youngest picked a small pumpkin ($6) and my two older boys wanted bigger ones (regular $7). CRF does not weigh pumpkins and you use the honor system. You put down which pumpkins and how much on the sheet; put your pumpkins in your vehicle; and then you take the sheet to inside to pay. While inside, you can also purchase admission for the corn maze ($3 per person--free for 5 and under), which we didn't do, and homemade pumpkin ice cream, which we DID do--FTW! I thought their ice cream was a pretty good value: big waffle cones with two scoops for $3.50--especially being homemade. They also serve homemade strawberry ice cream in the spring during their strawberry season. We enjoyed CRF; it had a relaxed feeling, and we loved being able to pick our own pumpkins off the vine. They don't have lots of fall festival stuff such as a bouncy house or hayride, but that was fine with me. Surry is a bit of a drive from Suffolk, but combining a visit with Chippokes State Park, it could be an awesome day.

The site on Yelp does not say they are closed on Thursday but they are. There was a lady in the cute little business, it had pumpkins and all sorts of fall decor, just the type of place we were looking for as first time visitors. The lady was so rude (I'm guessing because they were closed) she did not want to give any ideas for the local area and stated, "I don't keep up with all the places in this area!" She was unloading her car so I walked up to greet her with a warm and friendly smile. I was just hoping she could give an idea of where to head next but she is for sure not from my friendly state of TEXAS. I can't imagine being treated this rudely in my state. I won't get into the rest but just know they are closed on Thursday.

The surry ride was fun as always and the farm was easy to locate. The place had a decent number of people when I visited but wasn't overly crowded. Berry picking was fun and the prices were reasonable too. The ice cream was pretty good and did provide a nice break from the warm weather. Two stars docked because the strawberries were certainly not the best quality compared to other farms in the surrounding area. I noticed that they're seeds seemed to have gathered on the bottom and I had to cut a good chunk off before eating as they were very hard to chew.

Awesome little pick-your-own spot -- it's a haul from Newport News, but worth the day trip because the prices are so much more reasonable than places closer to home. We went recently to pick strawberries - $2.50 per quart and $9.50 per gallon. We filled up our baskets quick and then enjoyed some of their homemade ice cream. Berry quality is fantastic - we ate a bunch and ended up making a large batch of homemade strawberry jam. We're planning to head back for blueberries ($2 per pint) next month. Important to note - it's CASH ONLY, so bring your bills.

CASH ONLY!Fun place to go with friends and other to go strawberry picking during strawberry season (April/May) and definitely something out of the ordinary for a date (by city dweller standards). Strawberry picking only costs $2.25 per quart (small) or $8.50 per gallon (large) and they allow you to fill up your basket till it is overflowing. Personally, I found the small to be a better deal as the large really is just two small boxes side by side and also I found that I could really pile up high on the strawberries. Aside from a larger strawberry picking field, this place also has ample tables (about 8 tables that fit at least 6 a table) under the shade and will apparently even reserve tables for you if you have a large enough group. Moreover, there is a place to wash your newly picked strawberries for you to eat on the spot. In the shop, they also sell vanilla and strawberry ice cream (under $3 for two scoops) as well as jam and pre-picked strawberries - I would recommend getting some vanilla to go with the strawberries, yum!I would recommend checking this place out on a nice day. Moreover, on the other seasons, there is other pickings available like blueberries and pumpkins. Only drawback of this place is that if you live on the "other" side you need to take a ferry over (or cross near Norfolk) which can be a long wait during peak hours as the ferry on runs on the half and full hour.PS: If you are coming by ferry, bring some old bread or other small items to feed the birds that will follow the ferry waiting for people to throw them food.

Best ice cream in southern Virginia! We come here often with the family. We always enjoy the friendly service, fresh berries, and the ice cream (of course). Great value too! Try the seasonal ice creams and be sure to bring cash as these folks are last holdouts in Universe for accepting cards.

Great place! Terrific blueberry patch. We got lots of great blueberries in a short time. They also have very good ice cream. It is located only a few miles from the Jamestown-Scotland Ferry, so convenient from the Jamestown/Williamsburg area.

If you're looking for a great selection of pumpkins this place is it. It's a far drive for me but worth it every year. Good pricing and good ice cream too.
