I admit I wasn't expecting much. The menu for breakfast is very small but it wasn't crowded and the service was good and the food was excellent. Now - to set expectations properly, this is not a bougie brunch spot with inventive lattes and instagrammable açaí bowls and other cute items. They have a simple, basic menu with breakfast fare. But the food was fresh and tasted good. And prices are unbelievably cheap for such a posh place selling $200 Peter Millar golf shirts across the hall. The ambiance and location is gorgeous. It's in the exclusive golf community of Bay Creek right beside historic Cape Charles and is nestled back past a 24/7 manned gated entry. The building is very pretty and harkens back to huge old wooden and brick barns of the 1890s. Reminds me of something you'd see at the Biltmore Estate in Asheville, N.C. This spot has gorgeous windows all around and overlooks the driving range. Vibes are laid-back and restrooms and the Pro shop are located just outside the restaurant. Our server was a very sweet college gal who took excellent care of us and kept the coffee refills coming. The menu isn't large but it has all the basics to take care of business: eggs, omelettes, pancakes, oatmeal, build your own breakfast sandwiches, Benedicts and tons and tons of sides at very fair prices. My husband built his own breakfast sandwich which was ham, bacon, cheese and eggs on a soft warm brioche bun. He added a side of breakfast potatoes and fruit to his order. I chose the more adventurous route and did the oatmeal bar. This is a small bar off to the side of the real bar - a table with a warmed tray of oatmeal and some bowls with almond slivers, brown sugar, dried cranberries and fresh blueberries you can fix and top as you'd like. The oatmeal looked like no one had touched it since they opened, but I went ahead and tried it and it was steel-cut, perfectly cooked, and very fresh. I added a generous portion of blueberries and almonds with a small sprinkling of brown sugar and some honey and it was delicious! I chose to add sides of biscuits, fruit and sausage and all my sides were huge! I got two biscuits and two pieces of sausage for about $2 each as well as a huge bowl of mixed fruit.Very pleasantly surprised by the quality and prices and food here. Would absolutely dine again.Coffee was a bit weak - but that's not a huge issue. Everything else was great!

We were staying at the resort and were told we had until 6pm to order carryout. At 5:05 we called to order, only to find out the first 3 items - and two others - were no longer on the menu. We were basing our order on the Bay Creek website. The staffer who took the call was nice enough to text me the new menu; we tried to order 20 minutes later and were told they were no longer taking carryout for the night. The person who took the call seemed annoyed and stressed, but not apologetic. And with a group of 7, getting into a restaurant at this time of night on a Friday would be impossible.Just not a great experience.

I was really hopeful about this place given it sits on the beautiful golf course and has a cool decor! Unfortunately it was not a hole in one for us and we left unsatisfied with our meal and experience! The meal did start off fine as we ordered the wedge salad and nachos to split! Both were tasty though they did forget the fried goat cheese medallion we ordered as an add-on! Service was very slow and the first chance we had to tell them about forgetting this was long after our entrees had arrived! As for entrees, "A" ordered the flounder tacos and liked them and I ordered the buffalo shrimp wrap which was the entree we were most disappointed in! I guess because I asked for no hot sauce on the shrimp, that meant that the shrimp had no sauce on it at all which was unexpected! The shrimp tasted very fishy and unlike any shrimp I've ever had-seems like it must have been frozen and undercooked! My fries were also served undercooked and were not edible though "A's" were just fine! I even had him taste test everything to be sure I wasn't just being picky and he found everything just as bad! For the record, this is the first I've ever not been able to eat a meal served at a restaurant so I think that shows how much I really dislike not being able to at least eat some of a meal served!Thankfully, they took the entree off the bill and our server was very apologetic about it! Overall, service was extremely limited, the food was underwhelming and the experience was mediocre at best! I am hoping we were just there at a bad time and that this isn't their normal experience-giving them the benefit of the doubt!

We have been going to this restaurant for 3 years. Solid breakfast, and service is good. Nothing spectacular, but not bad either.

Talk about your hidden gems. This is in every sense of the words hidden for non locals. It is listed on the yelp system, but most reading even the reviews would not know the best thing about this find is it's open to the public, that's right! This is a swanky gated golf course neighborhood and you can gain access to the club restaurant. The Coach House Tavern is the club restaurant for Bay Creek Golf on the Eastern Shore which is home to not one, but two signature 18 hole courses. Both Palmer & Nicklaus each came in on the ground level to design the first ever joint venture in the USA. It is magnificent and nothing was spared at making these premier courses. However, there was something that had to be spared for the club. The huge fancy club house with fine dining would prove too costly in a downturn economy around 2005. So the Coach House was elevated to a combination of both casual and fine dining. Non members can access the restaurant during their hours. The location is not far outside of downtown Cape Charles and close to the old Marina. GPS works very efficiently and will take you to the gate. Once at the gate you will need to stop and let them know you are a visitor and plan on dining at the Coach House Tavern. A hang tag will be provided for limited time to be in the club. The drive up to the club is not difficult and there is great signage that you direct you to around a mile to your left turn into a parking lot and the clubhouse. I was blown away when arriving just before sunset at how beautiful the club and grounds were. Everything was clean appeared almost brand new. There was plenty of parking and many of the spaces oddly enough for me were taken by high end fancy golf carts. Custom golf carts are a trademark in Cape Charles, they are every where. It was surreal to be here and not members, it seemed that special. The exterior has a cottage look and is adorable with warm beige wood plank and brick. The sidewalks were spotless and we entered at the sign for the restaurant. The lobby was again a shocker and had beautiful slate flooring with the cottage theme continuing. Lots of cool vintage pics of Arnie and Jack. The restrooms are up front. I utilized them and was floored by how clean and cool they were. The decor continues with a cottage feel and is winning! My wife even commented when exiting how much she liked it and she usually never says anything about a restroom facilities. The check-in was just through the door and a hostess was on duty. The place was probably over half full, but they did say reservations are recommended. It appears that they did not have enough staff and was attempting to limit access to make sure service was up to par. After a little discussion they agreed to seat us on the patio which was what we were hoping for. There are around six table right off the greens and it was an incredible view. Our server took longer that what I hoped for to get drinks started, but then never missed a beat. The menu was looked over and it was shockingly reasonable for they type of atmosphere. Average meal price was probably around $15 which I'm including there sandwich side that is available for dinner as well. I got the mango fish tacos with rock fish, my wife the halibut and my daughter and kids chicken fingers. It did not take long for an older couple who were members of the club to strike up a conversation with us and provide a little background that I have used for this review. Based on their experience every Friday night the food is consistently good and the service is friendly and welcoming to members and non members alike. They said the Sunday brunch is legendary with lots of offerings and a great deal too!Our meals came out at a respectable 20-25 min and was correct. My wife enjoyed her meal the most, the Halibut was huge and sides good. I also enjoyed by tacos, but thought the rock fish was a little bland. But I did enjoy and thought the mango gave a nice balance of flavor. The side of onion rings were yum! My daughter enjoyed her meal too! A check-in of how everything was by our waitress was done, but could have been done earlier in my opinion. Overall we really enjoyed her, she smiled and was friendly the entire service. Our bill was delivered in a timely fashion when it was obvious we were done. A to go box was given for our daughter's meal. The total was shocking awesome for three meals. Keep in mind no drinks, appetizers, or desert...but it was $45 with tip. I call that a bargain for the food quality and high end surroundings.I did not touch on the indoor dining room and bar since we did not eat inside. It had a casual table and chair tavern feel with several taps on hand. It was cozy and the crowd was enjoying themselves. This visit was just what we were hoping for. It offered great food, quiet atmosphere and beautiful grounds. To boot if also offered wonderful company that was not expected. I will plan on making a trip back

I'm not sure I've ever been to a restaurant at a golf course/club (been to a few) that makes it so difficult to get basic food and drink service in anything that resembles an acceptable amount of time. The wait staff is always disorganized and generally clueless. Simple requests at other restaurants become huge challenges at this restaurant. You'll wait at least 15 minutes to pay your check on top of the long wait. A few burgers and three orders of chicken fingers for lunch took nearly two hours. Thank goodness the older members have nowhere to go or be - they've become accustomed to a lackluster experience. If you need something before your round of golf, best to build in another 15 mins of wait time for your Arnold Palmer and hot dog.

Looking for a decent place to eat in CC I figured we couldn't go wrong eating here in this beautiful country club. Wow was I wrong. One of us had a sandwich which was just ok The two of us with entrees were asked if we needed a box for our uneaten meals. Service was just fine. Menu was missing key items, crab dip was bland, fish tacos were awful, sweet potato fries were loaded with cinnamon which I've never heard of and should have been warned of. Lack luster dining room in what otherwise was a lovely building. It was clear it wasn't just an off night. Especially being one of only 2 tables in a large empty room.

Unacceptable behaviour from the owner, not only did they mess up in their service but they failed to recognize so, they instead got upset and said very disheartening words. Imagine telling people to go back to their country in our current day and time, embarrassing, ignorant and shameful behaviour
