I visited this center for a private event last weekend.I heard about this center before and wanted to check it out, but never got around to it. I still really didn't check it out last Saturday. I only walked in the front door - to the right - and the event was in the banquet rooms to the right. If I had to guess about two rooms were used to accompany about 100 people.Overall, I was please with the center.I did see young boys enjoying the facility.I did notice this center is only open from 12p-4p on Saturdays.Unlike most recreation centers in the area, this one looks to be the the largest or in close competition with others in the city.Plenty of parking!Check them out when time permits.Have fun and enjoy life :)

This center is huge and so amazing. I came here because of tge google reviews and they were so on point.Greeted with kindness, everything is spotless, seniors are working out, I mean really pumping iton. I am motivated. The parking lot is wonderful too. Spaces are wider than usual to accommodate newer vehicles. The mixture of ages is very nice. I am jazzed by the positive attitudes and smiles. Loving it.

The Dr. Clarence V. Cuffee Community Center is located in the Plymouth Park section of SoNo in Chesapeake. It opened in 2007 amid much fanfare. This underserved area of the city desperately needed a place for kids to get off the street and engage in more positive endeavors. Over the years the center has been well maintained has proven a valuable asset to the community. The spacious parking lot provides easy access in and out with multiple points of ingress and egress. Like the community center, the parking lot is well maintained and kept clean. The community center includes a gymnasium, a club room with a kitchen, meeting rooms, fitness and weight rooms, locker rooms and a game room with computers and gaming stations. The second-floor library is on the small side but is stocked with books and features over 20 public computers with internet access. The Cuffee center has much to offer and I appreciate the way the city has maintained the facility. It is now 13 years old but remains clean and in good repair. It has become a community focal point and serves as the precinct polling place at election times. Operating hours have been reduced during the current COVID-19 pandemic and the center is closed on weekends at this time. Current operating hours are Monday - Thursday 9 AM - 8 PM, and 9 AM - 5 PM on Friday. Hopefully we will be able to soon put this pandemic behind us and the center can return to their normal operating schedule.Adjoining the community center is Campostella Square Park which enhances what the facility has to offer with outdoor basketball courts, pavilions, a playground, walking path, etc... Though the park has been allowed to deteriorate a bit over the years the Cuffee Center itself has been kept up. I appreciate the role this recreation center plays in the community.
