CHKD Thrift Store

Tumi, Kate Spade, Coach and more!We were looking for a throw away suitcase to head back home. We were at Walmart and thought we might as well stop by here. It looks small. I wasn't expecting much to be honest. We found a decent one for $7 I was about to settle for, then my husband found a check in luggage - Tumi for $15!I looked around and found a Kate Spade tote and leather gloves. You can still smell the leather on that bad boy! I also found a small coach purse, looks authentic, but pretty old and scratched up. Wasn't my style, but for less than $15, still good deal if it's your style IMO. I did find a bunch of other totes in great shape and a ridiculous LV knock off for $15.Overall, one of the best places for totes and bags! At least for me. It was a good day!Granted, I've only been here once.

This store was smaller than expected.The selection is not the greatest and it's a little pricey in my opinion. I unfortunately didn't find anything I liked today and I can't find myself going back.

Not the best selection here.... It is a rather small thrift store located in the First Colonial area of Virginia Beach. Lots of neighborhoods nearby which is why I'm surprised they don't have more of a selection. I'm sure there are still treasures and good deals to be found within this store I just haven't found much the couple of times I've gone. I mainly go to look for clothes, shoes, and accessories so I didn't really browse the hard goods, furniture, or electronic sections. If you do check them out, go on Tuesday when everything is 25% off!

It's always the same, same when it comes to CHKD chain thrift stores. This one is located in the shopping center by Walmart, right off the highway. Not super busy, but there were quite a few patrons that I had to say excuse here & there. Slim selection of many items (furniture, purses, jewelry), so I would only really come here with a focus on clothes. Wouldn't go out of my way to visit here again.

Typical thrift shop. WellOrganized and neat. Items are well priced. Save more on military days and Tuesdays everyone saves 25%.

My son loves coming to this exact location and an employee acted as if he was in the way as she moved a cart from the front to the back . I was appalled at her eye rolling and head shaking I told a manager and all she said was "okay" Just a bit of constructive criticism- customer service keeps us coming . I'm giving this location two stars for the lack of that .

I love thrifting. I go several times a week. Big fan of Goodwill, but they don't open until 11:00 (ridiculous) Anyway, in the area, so went to this location. Was there 2 hours, waiting on my husband, who dropped me off. Lots of merchandise. Mon 25% discount for military, Tues 25% of entire purchase & Thur 25% off seniors. Excellent! The bad things about CHKD...no restrooms or dressing rooms. About 5 shopping carts. Used bags for merchandise. Hangers looked like they're 25 yrs old. Employees are not friendly & frankly rude. One went flying by reeking of cigarettes. They all dress like vagabonds. No uniforms. It was very busy & the cashier held her own. If she called for help, they screamed at her "I'm coming" for all the patrons to endure. Prices were stupid high $1,000 on a chair...yep, you heard me right. I asked if they'd watch my basket to go to the bathroom at Walmart..."We're not babysitting your basket" I was between a rock & a hard place. Then my hub walked in the door. My knight! Ran to WM, came back, paid & hit the road. Won't be going back. A brand new Goodwill is being built right around the corner...

I donated items here (this location) for about 8 years. I've been glad to donate items I no longer needed to a worth cause.Shopping here though has not been much of a successful venture for me. I think because I was looking for something very specific and was unable to locate it. When you just have time to peruse and walk the aisles aimlessly I'm sure you can find plenty. They even have formal wear at a super low price.The staff here are friendly and helpful.

Leaving on behalf of my wife.We have been shopping here since they opened and have never had a bad experience until the past couple of years but tonight was the last straw.Yes, they closed as 6 and she had gone in with 5 minutes left but she only wanted to grab one shirt for our daughter and maybe several more if they were easy to get.She was immediately greeted with a "you have 4 minutes" not a hi or welcome to chkd or anything just "you have 4 minutes."Whatever, She managed to grab one shirt within 40 seconds and had another 7 by the 2 minute mark when She heard "2 minutes left, get it and go!"Are you serious?!? Can someone working thrift retail be this rude?!? After decades of shopping there and thousands of dollars worth purchased and the same donated as well, We will absolutely NEVER go to this location for any reason what so ever!Goodwill is a mile up the road and you just pull right up and don't have to make sense of a crazy parking lot.I have never been so offended at how She was treated by that young girl. (No name tag but young white girl with brown hair 5:58 pm 10/15)I'll take my purchases to other chkd because we support them but the hilltop store will never get another item or Penny from us, our friends or our family members.I recommend they overhaul their store and reevaluate their associates. This was inconceivable!

The store was clean and well kept but my sisters and I would not recommend store #823. My sisters and I enjoy shopping at thrift stores anywhere we travel, especially those that support charities and causes. During a sister vacation to Va. Beach we enjoyed some shopping at the CHKD store mentioned above. Between the three of us we spent a several hundred dollars on items and clothing. With no fitting rooms available we took our haul back our hotel room to try on. Several items were not true to size. We contacted the store manager to ask if they would allow exchanges. The manager said all sales are final, sorry about your luck. Next time you should wear tight clothes so you can try clothes on overtop. We were flabbergasted! That is NOT good customer service for a business that is trying to gain patrons so this business can support local causes. Such a shame.
