Office Experience Called this morning to get updated doctor note for my senior being out sick, I was told by the staff at 8:15 this morning I could come and pick up note. Get here on my lunch break and they said no one from this office spoke to me. Really so I wasted my lunch break coming cross town for nothing? Gas is high and my time is precious. They all lied Always get names of who you spoke too do you can call out the liar!I'm very disappointed in the office!

My son has been coming here since he was born. He will be 11 years old in Jan. Dr. Scott Eichelberger is his pediatrician and he is wonderful. When he was a baby I would come here for his shots. Growing up we would usually go to the other location off Hanbury but seems like Dr. Scott is more at this location now.I have found them to always be so efficient. From getting appointments, to talking with nurses, to getting the care we need from doctors. This last appointment took a long time, I'm thinking because my son was not actively sick. I wouldn't go anywhere else!

My son woke up screaming in pain and with a fever of 102. I typed in CHKD and Oakbrook pediatrics was the closest medical facility to our house. When we arrived the waiting room was packed and at first I was a little discouraged because I thought there was going to be a long wait. Instead we were seen within 20 minutes, everyone was super friendly and positive and moving as fast as they could to take care of all the sick little ones. I highly recommend this facility, and we plan on taking our son here for future care.

Awful service!! I held the CHKD brand in high regard and thought they must be good based on that. Wrong assumption. My son is 13 months and has gone there since he was born and the service has deteriorated continuously. He rarely gets to see a doctor, they always set him up with a nurse. We have had multiple negative experiences there and after today, will not go back. The last straw - the appointment setter told me the incorrect time for our appointment over the phone, then claimed no responsibility. After having us wait to try to "fit us in" they then said the doctor was only available for urgent care visits and we did not qualify for that (even though no one was waiting). Now I'm guessing it was really because they didn't want us to see a dr, only a nurse. The care of your children should not be left in their hands. Their only interest seems to be in their profit margins.

My son-in-law took my granddaughter in on Monday, 3/27th and saw Melanie Petchel, the nurse practitioner, because the baby had been throwing up for several days. Melanie could find nothing wrong with her and thought perhaps it was a UTI. The only way to test on a baby is to insert a catheter to get a urine specimen. My daughter and son-in-law agreed to the test, so they catheterized her...although they missed on the first pass, so had to do it again. The test came back negative. At this point, my granddaughter was hungry, had not had a nap and probably felt like she had been violated (I know I would have) and was crying very loudly. Melanie Petchel with Chesapeake Pediatrics came back into the room and told my son-in-law that she had never seen a baby so fussy (really?) and that she felt there was something wrong with her leg because she wasn't putting weight on it and that she needed to have an xray of her leg. My sil told Melanie that the baby puts weight on both legs all the time at home. After all, she pulls herself up and has started cruising around the house. My SIL and daughter did not feel the need for her to have the xray based on this 3 minute observation by a nurse practitioner. This woman called my daughter at home later that night from her home phone and spoke to my daughter for 40 minutes and had her do some "tests" while she was on the phone. Everything Melanie asked my daughter to do with her was fine and she showed no sign of discomfort in her legs at all. At this point, Melanie told my daughter that my granddaughter could have a bone infection. After all, she said, I have 13 years of experience...I know what I'm talking about. My daughter told her if they noticed anything that they would contact their normal pediatrician. The next day, my daughter spoke to their day care provider and asked her if she noticed anything wrong with the baby when she walked or pulled up and she told them no. She then told them that another child in the daycare had a stomach virus and it seemed to be going around..hence my granddaughter being sick. Melanie Petchel felt the need to call my daughter at work on four different occasions and insist that she take the baby for an xray even though my daughter told her that there was a confirmed stomach virus at the daycare and that she did not have any issues in putting weight on her legs and standing up or cruising. My daughter called the pediatrician's office and tried repeatedly to get an appointment with their regular pediatrician to discuss with her, but she did not have an openings. After the last phone call my daughter received from Melanie Petchel this past Friday, my son-in-law called Chesapeake Pediatrics and spoke to a triage nurse who agreed that the nurse practitioner was over reacting. While my daughter and SIL were out on Saturday, my daughter received a call from Child Protective Services stating that someone had reported she and my SIL for medical neglect for my granddaughter and stated that she needed to meet with them immediately. Of course, my daughter called me and I rushed to the public place where they met. After hearing their side of the story (which has been recorded), the social worker agreed that Melanie Petchel with Chesapeake Pediatrics should be reported and had crossed a line. She did suggest that they go ahead and have the xrays done so that nothing else could be said against them. We took her to CHKD urgent care and had the xrays performed. I stood in the hallway and listened to my grandbaby screaming because they basically strapped her down to a table so that she couldn't move while they took multiple (unneeded) xrays of both legs. They said that Melanie Petchel called them in as urgent and she would receive the results that night and should call them THAT DAY. We waited....crickets...NOTHING. My SIL called CHKD and they confirmed that absolutely NOTHIING is wrong with my granddaughter and that they didn't understand why the xrays were ordered. So , in other words, this so called medical professional decided to drag my daughter and son-on-law's name through the mud because she felt like she knew the baby better (with a very short examination) than they did. I am appalled and highly encourage ALL parents who use this practice to avoid seeing Melanie Petchel at all costs unless you are willing to risk being reported to CPS for neglecting your child because you disagree with her medical opinion. Today is Monday, 4/3 and they still have not received a call, an apology, or any communication from this practice.
