Wish Chesapeake parks and rec would look at VA beach parks and rec and take some notes. Put more money into the community centers and build them up the way VA beach does. They offer summer camp at 3 locations and it doesn't even start until 9am when most people have to already be at work. They offer aftercare at limited locations and have about 25 spots available, you have to line up on registration day and hour before they open to get a spot. Make the facilities better and raise the price a bit and actually give something the community needs.

Chesapeake Parks & Recreation holds outstanding and well organized events. I've attended several kayaking events. Today, I completed their Paddle To The Border event! It is a 7 mile kayak/canoe/paddle board event through the Dismal Swamp Canal! Every volunteer and attendant is extremely friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. They had the best food before and after! Definitely signing up next year! http://www.cityofchesapeake.net/page3022.aspx

This is a good stop when biking or motorcycling down to North Carolina. They have bathrooms that are locked even though the park is open. I'm not even thinking about trying to pee in the brush cuz you know how Chesapeake cops are. To nice park and I'm sure it's a nice place to come in the summer, Right now it sucks and it's not very welcoming or inviting right now it pretty quiet and peaceful and somebody has left kumquats or tangerines which I guess is pretty welcoming-

Kids have had a blast at the North West River Park Camp. Its rustic, outdoors, active, engaging and a "device free zone" for kids. PERFICT!! My kids have enjoyed going to this camp for many years. It's not fussy, it's not pretensious, it's just simple outdoor fun. If you want to "get back to basics", THIS is the place to do it. Wide open spaces for play, trails, kayacking, paddle boats, fishing, and real live wildlife is abounds.

Thoroughly disappointed with this business and their service this year. The last time I signed my kid up for soccer it was a disaster! I know the coaches are volunteers but they really need to do better vetting before allowing someone to semi commit to performing this task. The coach was supposed to get the jerseys for the team and took my money and I never received my kids jersey with his name on it nor did I receive my money back. There was also sporadic practice, never scheduled and many cancellations that were never made up. We also had two coaches because the first one Shanelle Sigh quit mid season and the replacement Alex always cancelled. The children were always losing games. because they rarely had practice and they were always vocally disappointed with these occurrences. Today I went to sign up for flag football and was notified that after age ten kids MUST play tackle. I informed the receptionist that no where on the website does it say that or in the brochure. In fact it says the age requirements are 5-15 and all she stated was she doesn't know why it says that. So I wasted my time and gas and they were no help. I will definitely take my business to another city.
