My family and I went to the Chesapeake Jubilee for the first time last weekend and we had an enjoyable time. Since I hadn't been to a carnival in a while, I was surprised to see that the tickets were stored digitally on a card that they give to you. I actually loved the convenience of not having tickets all over the place lol. We rode about two rides which were a lot of fun. The ride operator simply scanned the card for our tickets and that was it! Gone are the days of having to count out the tickets for the rides lol. We then decided to grab something to eat. I remember carnival food being delicious and worth every penny but we ordered a cheese burger, cheesesteak, sausage and peppers and fries and the burger was extremely small, the cheesesteak was finished in 3 bites and the sausage was the size of a hot dog. The food was disappointing for how much we paid. The funnel cake and fried Oreos were great though. The best part of the carnival was definitely the delicious Turkey leg that we all enjoyed. Since my daughter isn't a big fan of fireworks, we decided to leave before they started but overall, it was a fun family outing. Side note: To avoid paying the $10 parking fee, we parked at a nearby school but we walked close to a mile to get to the carnival so definitely where comfortable shoes if you plan on taking that route next year. :)

The year is now 2016 and a lot has changed over the past years here at the Chesapeake Jubilee. Parking is available, but it's usually better to donate $5.00 to the church and park a lot closer across the street. Did I mention the church shuttles you to the front entrance and give you free complimentary bottles of water for your drive home. The entrance fee is now $3.00 and you can ride the rides all day for $25.00. Which really isn't bad for all the teenagers and adults if your into rides ???As you walk around you will have plenty of food choices such as lobster, shrimp, ribs, Carolina BBQ, Maryland Crab cakes, jerk chicken, gyros, Philly subs, turkey legs, sausages, burgers, hot dogs, Chick-fill-a, wraps, fries, homemade chips, funnel cakes, fried (twinkies,Oreos, snickers), shakes, lemonade, ice cream, Italian ice cream, root beer, beer and lots of beer !!!With two stages available for your music entertainment and plenty of vendors set up in tents and outside with all kinds of souvenirs but also items for your home, personal use and gifts so you just can't go wrong. You must take the small tour in the U.S Army 18 Wheeler and pick up the free Army gifts. Also available is corn hole, beer pong, bubble soccer, and a bronco riding challenge where you can win $200.00. Oh and do take a pic with the LOVE sign !!!And of course the rides so enjoy everything !!!!

Chesapeake Jubilee is the city's birthday festival. It happens annually for a weekend in the May. It is my favorite place to attend for the best funnel cakes, the tiny awesome rides, the amazing fireworks (I could see the fireworks from the front porch at my home!), the place to play with the friends and the family, the grilled foods, and the boozes. The only downhill is the prices. The tickets for the rides are always way too much, but the event is only a weekend once a year, I am not going to complain and have fun. The funnel cakes and the cotton candy are the champ at this mini carnival.

It was an amazing experience, and has rides for all ages. The only thing that I didn't like about it was how long the rides were. We would have to wait in 30 minutes to an hour just to get on a single ride.
