We stopped by the Chesapeake Farmers Market today at Chesapeake City Park. The selection was a little sparse but the quality of the produce offered was excellent. It pays to shop early here. All of the vendors are very friendly and helpful if you have questions about what is offered.

SUPPORT LOCAL FARMERS!I liked visiting this small farmers market at the City park on Greenbrier Rd on Saturday morning. It is only open Wednesday's and Saturday's. Not too many farmers/vendors come but they have decent deals. The one that I shopped from had big eggplants for $1, squash and zucchini 2/$1, spaghetti squash for $2. They also had potatoes, tomatoes, and some fruit. I would definitely recommend visiting if you are in the area on one of these days! Lots of parking and friendly people to talk to! Can't wait to come back. Bring cash! Makes it easier on the farmers, I'm not even sure if they take card..

Love, love, love this market. It isn't massive with approx 8-10 vendors. However, the breadth and depth of the products are remarkable. They have fresh flowers, yummy fresh muffins and baked goods, organic dog treats, beef, chicken, eggs, lamb. All meat products come form a grass fed, antibiotic free, cage free farm. Prices for everything is so much cheaper than the local grocery stores. The owners are friendly and the vibe is clearly communal. This gem is located within the Chesapeake city park at the front left. The city has a hard pavilion set up for them and there is plenty of parking. What a great way to start you Saturday!

During the Summer months this place is great and unlike other cities this farmers market goes right until Thanksgiving (cause you know vegetables are still growing in the fall months). I wish there were more vendors. Farm Chicks Produce is in the first spot and I appreciate the variety of produce and fruit they offer, and that they take cards, but their customer service could be better. There have been times where I have been standing right in front of them ready to check out and they proceed with helping someone else. During the 2016 season they also had the neighborhood harvest and a meat vendor there. The other vendors are hit or miss. I wont name names but 2 of them have sold fruit with grocery store stickers on it....very strange if you're growing it..but maybe there is a reason behind it.I will continue to support this market, and hope that they have more growth in the future.

Poor selection, the produce which was advertised as locally grown, was ANYTHING BUT! This produce came straight from an auction. Also, so much for "Virginia Grown", the bulk of what was actually grown came from North Carolina....much was being sold by the organizers family who lives in NC. Had a big truck there with AUCTION on the side, at least they aren't hiding the lie.
